USF4 | Tier List Thread (updated October 2015)

I believe you can still make it plus anyway. Dunno if +5. But if you end the motion in uf you get the + on block version.

Read a tweet that it also goes plus if you do it out of a dash.

So Sagat, Rolento, and some others got over-nerfed. Big fucking surprise. I know sometimes it makes sense to wait a game out and see if tech is discovered, but I think we all knew this would happen just after looking at the last balance changelog. You don’t need to be a pro to see that adding recovery frames to every fucking move Rolento has is going to make him weaker.

Add recovery to everything and take away all his reversals.

Ah, yes, and that. Capcom has sucked at balancing for a long time.

yeah like, I don’t even want to share stuff with my character or play them on stream so Capcom doesn’t make knee jerk reactions to stuff and nerf before the game is fully developed.

I’m still expecting a balance patch when disk release drops though.

hopefuly not a full balance patch. chances are they’d mess stuff up

just tweak the obviously strong. yun

tweak the shit thats obviously weak. sagats ultras could go back to the damage they did before with the way they function now if they are leaving high tigers the same. rolento with no reversals. either bring back ex pc, or inv frames on ex back roll. DJ

and fix the copious amounts of bugs and shit that eternal found, and put the netplay back how it was

nothing huge. game isnt that bad

Fix all the collision issues. No nerfs, just buff obviously weak characters. Add edition select online.

USF4 is suddenly no longer a beta test.

I really don’t care if they don’t add edition select.

I think Daigo and the others put the Yun problem well in a sense.
I don’t think the main issue is that he’s too good, he just dominate the mid tiers and worst characters too much.

There’s a bunch of characters that are good that can’t be played before Yun cockblock them.

And I remember when people were arguing with me when I said Rolento was ass cheeks on like day 2.
It’s painfully obvious to see that the character has way too many faults to be anything higher than low-mid at the absolute best, and that would only happen if some good ass tech was found.

Half of his shit doesn’t even work properly 70% of the time, and he you can literally pressure him with absolutely no fear unless he has ultra stocked.

Just give him back his 6F active st.mp, make EX Patriot have strike invincibility at the very least, slide that can be made -3 at max range, better hitbox on cr.mk, faster walkspeed, and make EX overhead 0 on block.

Done. Now the character is at least playable. It’s sad because most of this will probably never happen, and it’s even worse considering he’s one of the most fun characters to play as thanks to all of the things you can do with him.

overhead at 0 is kinda busted. needs to have risk associated with it given that it wont be anti aired, breaks focus, and easy hit confirm into ultra

i like the idea of strike inv on ex pc tho. also the active frames back on mp would help

he’s not ass. but low mid is accurate. ass is vanilla vega, dan pre ultra, super gen etc

when i feel i can just hold upforward vs. a character ass seem pretty apt.

he has anti airs. U1, U2, and his ground air to air normals are ok

Rolento really just needs better walkspeed and a more reliable anti air imo. In exchange I would say make make st hp more whiff punishable, hurtbox is behind the stick. Now you would have a character with decent walkspeed, excellent pokes, a solid anti air game, and a solid mixup/frame trap arsenal. That would be solid enough

I haven’t seen anything from Elena Rolento and somewhat Poison that could dissuade me to jFierce at them with Mak.
It’s a 40 / 60 damage anti air against landing a potential 400 damage combo for me.

Yeah, I guess what you said about the overhead is kinda true, but I think it’s kinda stupid how it is currently honestly.

I would rather him be only +6 or +7 after EX overhead so that it’s impossible or a tight link and a risk to try to combo into heavies or ultra. However, he should be 0 or +1 on block and do an extra 20 damage and 50 stun.

I’ve already seen like triple the normal amount of Juri’s online.

Good chart, I can’t see anything I majorly disagree with, In fact it looks pretty much spot on if I were to make one, even in these early days. Usually these top player charts have all kind of whack inside.

Not 100% sold that Flong is triple A though, I think I would compress that top section down into just two levels.

I disagree with a bunch of it but what do I know.

I think that Japan tier ranks more heavily on specific matchups. E.G. “If this character beats the best characters but loses to the mids” they’d weight his points MUCH higher than “Does this character go even with the top tiers but demolishes everyone below that” even though really, that 2nd one is probably a better character.

I can’t see:
Hakan bottom tier
I can’t see Sakura, Gouken, Oni, Ryu, Decapre in the same tier as Blanka, Cody, El Fuerte. I don’t even know if I could see Cody as low as Blanka / Elf (and I think elf is much better in USF4).

But Sakura, Oni, Ryu, Decapre, Gouken are pretty clearly stronger than anyone else in that tier list. How much? I dunno. But it’s pretty noticeable. Guy probably as well but I’m not sure 100% if he is CLEARLY better than any of the others or just marginally better.

I also can’t see how Dhalsim would be ranked as high as Akuma. Screams bullshit to me.

There is A LOT on that list that stands out. I think that the general idea of spaces are correct but I think that the C+ tier where Sagat is should be expanded, and the C- tier where Honda is should be expanded. Some characters are just flat out WRONG though.

IMO:

Move Akuma up to A
Move Sakura up to AT LEAST B maybe even A
Move Ryu up to B or A
Move Oni up to B
Move Gouken up to B
Move Decapre up to B(for now)
Move Guile up to C+
Move Guy up to C+
Move Dhalsim down to C+
Move Hakan up to C+
Move Dan up to C-
Move Blanka down to C-

I could probably agree with that.

Very much agree. Comparing the first group (Sakura, Gouken, Oni, Ryu, Decapre) to the second (Blanka, Cody, El Fuerte) is basically comparing characters who at the very least have solid tools to characters who’re more…gimmicky?!? Not quit the right word to describe Cody but when you’re closer to the Rolento end of the spectrum than the Bison/Akuma end your tool box is lacking in decent wake-up options. Even with Decapre, who IMO has the biggest gap in her game among the first group (reliable anti-airs), she makes up for that by doing above average damage, having amazing mobility and among the best Ultras in the game.
