USF4 | Tier List Thread (updated October 2015)

how is lp daggers not that good? you can setup the same sort of spacing game as yun after a blocked light shoulder but daggers has much faster startup.

Also more corner carry and damage.

About Daigo’s opinion about some of Evil Ryu’s bad match ups. I think Vega and Sim are tough, I don’t think Guile is a bad match up for Evil Ryu. Even at best although I always felt Evil Ryu had a slight advantage. Those corner unblockables are gone, but he still gets fake cross ups without hard knockdowns. Daigo doesn’t even mention the two characters that I think are Evil Ryu’s worse match ups, which are Ibuki and Rose. I wonder how he feels about those two match ups?

But he’s right about Evil Ryu having plenty of tough match ups despite being top tier. When all the changes came out, I figured that in the long term he would settle somewhere near the bottom of the top 10. Which isn’t bad at all, he just isn’t quite the power house and contender for best character that some thought he would be.

i meant it in the sense that because she has it doesn’t make her top tier/top ten which is probably one of the first things people who argue she is would put forward as evidence. i agree it’s great against anyone without a 3 frame reversal…i know even then it can be spaced but i personally don’t use it once they have two bars and ultra just incase. i prefer using ex whenever possible because its 0 on block, pushes the opponent into the corner a ton further and you can follow up with an lp dagger straight after for even more corner carry as long as you are confident they won’t reversal and you’re not fighting a shoto (just off the top of my head i think shotos would be able to punish a blocked lp dagger follow up to the ex dagger - could be wrong though).

so instead of like learning how to space it, you just take away your own tools? thats an easy way to not get better. hell i do it MORE in those situations in an attempt to bait greedy dps then punish for mad damage.

It isn’t even that hard to space it correctly. Comparing it to when i played Blanka and trying to space st.jab at the max range where electricity wouldn’t whiff or where i needed to space balls to not get ultra’d on block, it’s so ridiculously easy as all you need is near max range cr.mk. It’s not some sort of character specific, hard to remember, complicated thing where you have to do like esoteric strings to set up the spacing.

Majors? Nah. Only weeklies or tournaments where the competition wasn’t high. I’ve won a few myself, where the toughest match was a Bison player not even playing Bison cause he hates mirrors.

I used to use Daggers a lot, but nobody else seems to, except Haneyama online. She’s definitely top 15 though. Top 10 maybe.

Do we have a list of characters which she simply cannot do Dagger pressure against? I think Ken’s HP SRK hits it regardless of spacing, but I could be wrong and there may be other moves out there.

here is the list in normal situations

things like ryu/chun super will punish but those situations don’t happen that much. I dodged a t.hawk u1! it’s GOOD

yes it isn’t that hard to space it correctly but by the same token its not that hard to see that it’s been badly spaced either. i was punishing for fun earlier with ken against someone who kept messing it up.

and if you want to risk using it in those situations…fine. i’m just saying if my opponent has a 3 frame dp, 2 bars and an ultra, along with the fact it’s probably going to kill me if they land it, i would personally stick to ex daggers at that point. each to his own.

Just because something CAN be done poorly and punished doesn’t mean that it’s not strong though. Why remove your option from a tool set? I didn’t see Feis only using EX Rekka back in AE2012 just because his LP Rekka could be punished at -4F if you did it at the wrong spacing.

“I’m going to stop using max range LP SPD because I may fuck it up” - Nobody ever.

I like (haha -_-) how someone disagreed with your post. They must enjoy being wrong.

yeah most of the time i get one the person doesn’t even try to argue with me, they just hit a button and are good to go.

The best part is when it’s something that isn’t opinion based, like things that actually exist in the game, and i’m like, ???. How can you disagree when my post is about how many frames a move is or something?

Is there a range that Dekappa can do lp hands on block, and Gief reversal lp SPD will whiff? If not, I’m going to learn a shitty pocket Gief just so I can counterpick like I already do to Adon.

you can do raw hands very easily, but max range cr.mk xx hands will have the cr.mk whiff unless gief is in his walk forward animation, hits some buttons, or crouch blocks.

Sagat, Chun, and Ryu could get it consistently when I tested it while characters like Dudley and Poison could get it depending on the spacing.

Guile can get 2 hits for 120 damage and whiff the rest of the hits to his death.

Haha, I meant can she space the lp hands to be safe against reversal lp spd? Or is it getting scooped even if she does is at max range?

i just explained the situations in how you can set it up to be safe vs. reversal lp spd in the post you quoted. you can space raw hands or if he crouch blocks cr.mk xx hands at max cr.mk range. at that range however neutral or back walk will cause the cr.mk to whiff.

some supers can work yeah, but like i said those situations rarely come up. I think ken should be able to kara super for instance.

I’m still confused as to how hands can be spaced to be safe. How do you space it so that the very last hit of a multi hitting move hits at max range. That’s very different from single hitting moves being spaced to hit at the tail end of their active frames.

I do however agree that if a move is -3 or -4 it can be still used at certain distances. It’s not a great habit though.

do you have the game? you can test it if you dont believe anything said about hands being safe

just saying
