I think Decapre has potential for top 10, but at 10th place. Also people forgot about Sakura? She still seems dumb… Came up with a few DWU setups myself. Surprised Daigo didn’t list her.
Nobody plays Sakura anymore. I’m not sure why, but she’s just not very popular.

I guess people want full retard instead of stupid. She still gets away with a lot of dumb stuff, and them combos are still delicious.
Still probably the 2nd best frame trap character after Cammy (maybe 3rd if you count Yun as a “frame trap” character) and the best stun damage character after Makoto (in terms of real world scenarios + rest of the toolset allowing Sakura to get in and land those high stun combos. Not just “possibility if the opponent plays sloppy” but “practical application of high stun combos”)
If you don’t have a reversal that starts up in AT LEAST 4 frames, has invincibility and is fadc’able your not top tier material.

I’ll put Dudley and Viper over Sakura anyday for heavy stun ouput characters.
Hell, I see Dudley stun people quicker than Makoto these days. And yeah I’m talking practical.
Sak does more stun than Viper without the corner, and doesn’t need to start a combo with a jumpin/fierce to get that stun.

He definitely doesn’t have any 3-7s though which goes in line with Momochi’s statement of sticking with a character with the least amount of bad match ups in Ultra.
IMO that’s what most competitive players should be doing.

And that’s how I thought before Ultra. Just doesn’t make sense to try and muscle thru a bunch of 3-7s. Unless team tourneys become popular, everyone should either play Yun or have a minimum of 2 characters that compliment each other
I agree, but can’t seem to do it. I’ve tried but I keep going back to crappy Bison. Daigo’s tier list finally put that top 5-10 non sense to rest. The character is mid tier, and anyone who says bottom is a scrub Bison.
Over the months I’ve floated between; Oni, Akuma, Cammy, Sakura, Ibuki, Sagat, Juri, Seth, Guile, Honda, Balrog, Vega, Rufus, Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, T. Hawk, C. Viper, Chun Li. Character crisis much? Half of them aren’t even or was top tier… Even considering Elena and Dudley now. Probably stuck with Cammy the longest. Used against Guile, and Zangief because I knew really cheap setups against him.
Edit: How can I forget Fei? It was like playing a better Bison. Losing escapes for better options and ground game. Scissors kick pressure is nothing against high level players. Rekkas however used to be really good.

Didn’t think Guile was a bad matchup. Cammy definitely can still stun in 10 seconds, I’ve done it a few times. I don’t necessarily think she’s worse, just different.
Yeah, I still get pee’d on regularly by good Cammy’s, she just isn’t a win button anymore. She requires more thought (though she is still pretty derp), and does slightly less damage, but she is still really good.
Fei is still really good but he seems a lot less fun to me, but this is coming from someone who hasn’t mained the character since SSF4, so take that with a grain of salt.
I still feel that Yun is overrated though. Yes he is really good, Top 5 for sure, most likely top 3. Best character in the game though? I don’t know about that necessarily. I feel people overrate Yun because he is really good with minimal effort, but I still feel he has more bad matchups than the best character in the game should have. He also relies heavily on the opponent respecting him a lot, but once you show you can anti air somewhat consistently, and can punish shoulder pressure he quickly falls apart.
I Might be the only one who thinks this, but I genuinely think Ibuki is 2nd best or THE best character in the game. Her vortex was nerfed, but she’s probably the only character who’s vortex is still really good and can still work reliably against DWU. She also has godlike footsies which people underrate all the time for some reason. Most of the stuff you want to be doing with her is safe as well, and her damage is no joke especially in the corner. I might be crazy though, as I thought Juri was high tier in 2012, and Rose and Dudley were mid tier while everyone else thought they were ass.
Naw man, I can agree with Ibuki being near or at the top this time around. Only weakness she has that I can think of is her reversal needing meter, but if that’s the worst thing I can think of she’s in a pretty good spot.
This is why i always feel tier list arguments are silly in terms of placement.

Are the only question I care about. And I don’t care if a char appears in 2 categories, it just gives you the idea of them being borderline between the two groups.
Plus its not like a tier list affects game play. If a patch came out tomorrow that made cody #1 or #44 it wouldn’t change my play. only match-up discussion can do that.
But for some reason its so fun to discuss tiers. Idk why but its like that in SC2, WoW, and im sure its like that in league lol.

guile isn’t a bad matchup for e.ryu. maybe an annoying one. this is like when tokido said guile is a bad matchup for akuma.
i agree with your points about bison. has bison ever won a half decent tournament? just curious.
oh and as for the decapre is she/isn’t she top ten debate. although by no means am i a top level player, i’ve been been putting in the hours with her to point i think i can add my two cents. lp rapid daggers is not as great as people think it is, but i think the ex version is fantastic. that and her ex air charge drill thing. conserving meter for those two moves will probably end up being better option than using two bars for fadc into air throw in the long run. i think she’s probably somewhere in the top 15 characters and arguably the best of the new 5. at very best i can see her moving up to the cusp of the top 10 but thats about it imo.
