I’m enjoying Edition Select much more than Ultra (as an upgrade). We had a grappler-only session this weekend. Hakan, Gief, Hawk and Hugo. V.Gief is monstrous, but U.Hawk can give him a run for his money.
It’s fun picking chars from different versions and seeing how they stack up. Also makes you think twice about their relative strengths and weaknesses. I lost using V.Ryu vs AE2012 Sakura because she falls out of a certain EX Tatsu combo in the corner. Still happens with S.Ryu, but she doesn’t fall out of that particular combo.
Offlines the only way to go. Online will do nothing but piss you off/make you laugh at how bad it is/the players tend to be. You can not think, you will literally spend most of your time playing lame as shit just to bait out stupidity. The matches are zzz then zzz and more zzz. If you even get near someone on wake up to meaty etc…just expect wake up stupidity, shit that would never even work offline but they don’t know any better and will just do it. So you’re ultimately wasting your time everytime you log in, unless ofcourse you enjoy not actually playing the game and just poke…bait…poke…bait. Oh gotta be on point with this anti airs too, mofo’s sure like to jump…ALOT. I can 100% blame my recent apathy towards this game on the fact I played online. Offline I love this game, because It can actually played the way it should be.
There are plenty of good players online, I generally wait until later when the servers (or whatever) have less traffic. The gameplay is smoother and the players get better the later it is.
YOLO dude. I going to Evo myself this year and competing in my first tourney. Don’t think I do well but I use what I learned here.
As to sleeper characters, I say perhaps Gouken, Vega, Gen and couple others. Game will has some surprises but most people know the basic gist of the tiers for this game. Also rolento is sleeper calling it.
Maybe I just hate her, cause it took me longer to learn the match up. There’s 7346672454573 Akuma, Cammy, other vortex characters as opposed to her. Ninja hoe.
So much this. I’ve never seen so much mashing in my life. Throw mash, dp mash…just mash. FFS I saw a guy wake up sweep with Akuma RELIGIOUSLY and he knew how to dp, which made it even dumber.
But then again I’m the type of player that picks cody and does lp CU > EX CU as a block string while shouting “double reppuken!”
Off-line is better but it is just not feasible for everyone plus I prefer to play long sets over a tournament setting with only a few matches. It also sucks to be over 30 minutes away by vehicle with no vehicle.
Great idea for some chars, terrible idea for others. You are very negative even on hit with L1 focus - backdash. Seeing as Hazanshu’s active frames are grounded you wont get an air reset ever if you absorbed the hit and if Chun is mashing EX Lightning legs (as many chun’s do online after a hazanshu) you’ll get hit during the backdash recovery. Chun can even just do far HP and hit Cody for 100 damage. I’m sure this applies to A LOT of characters with shorter backdashes. It’s fine if you got like Ibuki or Makoto or Seth backdash but not Ken or Sagat or Deejay
I think the most we can say now is that certain characters are strong. Imo, it’s still to early for solid lists to be made. Also considering this will likely be getting a patch at some point.
