USF4 | Tier List Thread (updated October 2015)

Evil Ryu has basic tools that allow him to play the whole game, Dee Jay does not.

You can “hold your own” in every matchup in the game. 4-6 with literally every character. That doesn’t mean you’re top 10.

Yeah, E.Ryu and Oni always had all of the tools to be good in the game: Insane damage, great normals, meterless 3F reversal, consistent anti airs, meterless multi-hit projectile etc.

Dee Jay has none of that, and to win him you have to completely outplay your opponent and make almost zero mistakes. It’s impossible to compare him to those charactets, because he is much worse right off the bat.

wait wait u mean xWAx Kraken? lol that guy was in the Caribbean. laggiest player i’ve ever fought

He always lost to Chun in my opinion. I dont think shotos want to be up close with chun in general. The exception WAS Akuma, but that has changed dramatically. If a shoto doesnt have a good setup to use, i think its best to turtle.

Its difficult for me to comment on Evil Ryu though, because I dont have a lot of matchup experience there.

Evil Ryu was low to low mid in AE, but like other have said he always had all the tools he needed to compete despite that. To be honest, he plays almost exactly the same as he does in the original AE. The sweep would have been a game changer, but DWU negates that. The only thing in his arsenal that you have to be wary of now that you didn’t have to in AE is hop kick > EX tatsu. Tons of damage for such a simple move that blows up stand/crouch tech and it does even more damage in the corner. Besides that he’s pretty much the same dude.

All his gradual buffs from AE 2012 to Ultra with nerfs to the guys ahead of him is what makes him supposedly top 5 right now. The potential was already there though. As for the Chun match up, I think that’s also slightly in Chun’s favor. It’s just that she has to be careful because of all the shoto’s Evil Ryu can really bring the pain up close. A low forward > fireball into combo or low forward > LK axe kick into Ultra 2 can make up for many lost exchanges in the footsie war.

Fair enough.

Seriously, DJ is bottom 3. I have a lot of experience with the character against good opponents. I’ve played many money matches and have major experience. what i can tell you is that DJ has holes that many characters can exploit. Currently, I’m ranked number 1 on xbl and I’m trying to figure things out. I don’t have anything positive to say yet. Well, he beats Hugo and T.Hawk  . Currently, Kurokiba, FreeJay, Willpower, Affi, Dialupslim, and I are trying new characters because DJ won’t cut it. He is really that bad. The new system mechanics don’t even help .

time to change pic :I

I actually like the Shin Deejay pic. It’s super ironic now

Need to give him a scarf and a latte

and I thought I was mad about Gen changes. imagine what would have happened if deejay won a major. lmao

Kurokiba played pretty well against PR Balrog’s evil ryu at a recent thing.

At least DeeJay DESTROYS T Hawk. I’d rather fight blankas than Deejays and guile with t hawk.

anyways tier things:

Bison is definitely better. I can put him in my top ten I think. I haven’t seen as much E Ryu as I thought I would. Abel is going to be pretty real. I haven’t seen much Vipers either. Dudley is tough. El Fuerte is definitely improved. I think the event hubs tier list will be changing drastically in a month or so

Viper could be twice as broken as AE Yun you would still not see many of them.
Let’s see how Latif does at Shadoloo showdown and EVO, it will give us a good idea for the character.

I can’t. We go back 20 years

So, if i choose DeeJay, I’m definitely using Low Tier?

This is kind of important to me, since last time i chose Oni because he was dead last on the tier list (far worse than Dan); and then he won Topanga A league and everyone starting crying about him. I mean he was still dead last on the SRK tier list even after Topanga (i think he had no winning matchups); but I don’t think anyone was looking at the list anymore for some reason.

I just want to make sure I am using a really low tier (other than Dan) with DeeJay. Btw, I also thought that DeeJay was a solid character in v2012.

If you pick deejay your definitely playing the lowest tiered least versatile character in the game. He literally needs to be played at a high or atleast intermediate level if you even wanna get by.

Hey DaKnut, didn’t realize you were DJStillSucks lol. I’m with you. His new mechanics are awful. I haven’t had any trouble with Hugo or T. Hawk, as expected. I’m right there behind you. I was trying to catch up to #2 or #3 but the lag on ranked has been so terrible, I can barely play. Are there any characters since the update that are giving you more trouble now? For some reason, I’ve been losing to Cody and used to win that matchup 90% of the time.

How good do you guys think Cammy is? I’m having a hard time comboing off dive kicks and getting them to crossup. Not sure if it’s just me or because of some changes. I mean she still has good normals and ex dive is still great but I feel like she’s a little worse.

Not a Cammy player personally, but having fought a couple in the new version she doesn’t seem significantly better or worse in my opinion. Still top tier.
