I’d nominate Momochi vs. Xian for best match so far. That shit was so close.
When he performed the swag combo on Momochi at Stunfest, he became Daigo Transcendent, which unlocked his ability to use more than one facial expression during tournaments.

In truth he seemed really happy to be there for some reason. Maybe he realized just how big EVo had gotten, he was turning around in his seat and just checking out the venue and everything.

To be honest I think Daigo tries really hard to not smile and be happy at events now purely to retain that “emotionless” face he has set that intimidates the fuck out of his opponents that he’s just known for, like a persona. It’s pretty hard to contain happiness on such a big stage like that and I’m actually really glad we see more of a human side of him now, I’d call him the “face” of the community when thinking about the competition and having him as a figurehead imo is a damn good thing, he sets a really good image. There are a ton of clips where he’s blatantly trying to hide a smile, he’s trying hard to hold a straight face a lot of the time he’s on stage.

Mad props to Santarou. He called out the EVO champ, talked shit, and then backed it up when so many laughed at the idea that he actually thought he stood a chance(including many here if memory serves me right). I believed that his confidence was warranted and that he would prove to be better in this match up than Ryan or Bonchan. But I still thought he would lose in a close one. Instead he won kind of handily.
