The no english commentary thing is kind of unfair since that isn’t their native language which brings me to my next point. The nico nico complaints, especially since often streams from japan are low quality is totally an issue. Also the ability to find streams from japan can be tough period. Plenty of people tune into the twitch streams japan tournaments, Yubiken weeklies usually get a couple hundred and that’s just a weeklie at like 4-5AM PST.
Darui has been talked about before around here, he just isn’t a well known face so people dunno him. Same thing happened to Latif when he came out and dominated everyone back in 2011, people were like “who is this guy?” but he’d been around for a while just not going to majors for SF4 and just sticking around his area, only majors he’d been going to before were when he was dominating in Guilty Gear.
How often does Darui enter into major events in Japan? Pretty rarely AFAIK.
I missed the last few sets…the tournament was going really slow and they seemed to be more interested in having Infiltration showing all sorts of random images on stream than actually showing matches. Went to sleep.
As for Darui, he attends almost every team event that they have and usually does very well. It was just annoying to read the stream chat. They were talking about Darui as if he just came out of nowhere.
It is not unsurprising to see K-Brad have such a result at SXSW, however he doesn’t look free at all, a lot of his matches are pretty close with some extremely solid play, and then the last round happens and it all crumples or he can’t close things out. There is nothing wrong with his setups and technical play or his excecution, really feels he just mentally defeats himself a lot of he time. His spacing and overall footsies are strong too, so yeah.
Wow that match for Momochi against Tokido… he was up a round and dropped cs.HK > EX SRK in a game winning round, got an EX fireball and it cost him the game. That should have been 4 rounds in a row for him
Infiltration is sad…he gets a rare opportunity to go to Japan to fight the best players and level up…instead he randoms out everyone with Decapre. Nobody seems to know how to fight against this and he is banking on this in order to win.
I’ve always respected Poongko’s play and hope he wins, but Infiltration is ridiculous.
Yes. An evo champ had to “random people out”. Heaven forbid he play any character that’s not Akuma. He must have forgot that you’re never allowed to have alts or switch your main. That fiend.
My god. Respect Poongko for playing an RNG character, disrespect Infiltration for doing the same. Gotta love those double standards.
btw, people. Check up Sekiganryu vs. Amiyu. I don’t remember the last time I saw a SF4 set that enjoyable. Feels like someome rewound a clock so Ultra didn’t happen or something.

First Amiyu beats Pepe deathlasers some cancer out of existence, then he wins vs. Danhiru. Sekiganryu match starts at 57:48.
