so is there anything or anyone stopping Daigo from winning EVO this year?
He just showed he can dominate the player who beat him last 2 EVOs. I can only hope Bonchan goes, but other than that, Daigo is a strong candidate.
Truly, the beast.

Too hard to tell it being ultra and all. Tokido did beat him recently at that pachinko event.

I think Justin with Elena and Dieminion are gonna do really well, american Vipers may rise again, who know? I hope to see a Ken and a Yang player too.

I wanna see wao’s dudley. Maybe he’ll use it vs bonchan?

PR Rog shouldn’t be complaining about his performance at TWL. Balrog isn’t a bad character or bad in long sets, his bad gameplay and habits are finally getting exposed. The stuff he gets away with on XBL and in American tournaments is getting destroyed in Japan. He loves to throw out random dash punches, taps, sweeps, overheads, head-butts. He never blocks on wakeup, always ex rush, tap, back dash or mashes jab/crouch tech.

With his reckless/ throw random stuff out because its hard to punish play style, he needs to play characters like Rog and Fei in SF4, Wolvie/Doom/Vergil in marvel. If you look closely at the way he plays marvel is the same way he plays sf4, its just that he uses a charge character which people overlook. He’s picked up E. Ryu as of late and he’s terrible with him. I don’t think he really understand how to play him properly, he does way too many unsafe stuff and his combos are sub-optimal. If he used E. Ryu at Topanga his performance might be even worse.

I don’t hate Ed or anything like that, just stating my opinion.

Rog has no mix ups?

Btw, Ed himself thinks that Rog has only 4 bad matchups, but only 1 one of them is in the league(Akuma)…

The fact that it’s EVO. Daigo is near unbeatable in long sets, especially if he’s been studying the matchup with said player. But EVO is a lot of people to wade through and you can always get caught.

After seeing PR Rog’s salt I really want to watch all the matches he got bodied in and see his random taps get blown up by top players.

You know that the top 7 finishers will all walk away with some money. How much more painful it will be to come in last (8th) then.

Bonchan is more than likely top 4 in japan he messed infiltration the heck up. PR rog is pretty good he just needs to reshape his gameplay with less gambles.

I’m a Daigo fanboy so I’m happy that He’s in the lead but I’m actually really surprised Xiao Hai defeated Bonchan. I’m not too sure why but after beating Infiltration, I was pretty damn sure he was going to win the whole thing.
Some of Daigo’s reads were amazing and his footsies were just impeccable, I remember Infil had him in the corner just at footsie range and Daigo jumped back and did St.LK (avoiding cr.mk) into Sweep. Tekkers.
There was amazing play overall today though, Wao doing a Dash Up anti-air anime made me scream.

Lol

It’s about time he gets punished for them though. He does so many taps especially after knocking down people because he wants that juggle into ultra when they backdash, but these guys are one step ahead and throw him out every darn time.

Another thing I’m pretty sure PR Balrog knows this but after cancelling a normal like jab or mp into a dash punch the spacing makes it so that a lot of characters can punish it with jab. If he does the dash punches raw with a little better spacing he can’t get punished with jabs and it’s evident in the video too.

He been playing like its a 2/3 set. While he’s a decent sf4 player no doubt, these long sets really show his glaring weaknesses as a player. The way he’s learned to play all of these years is to reckless. That type of play works well against players that are worse than him, or in short sets because most can’t fully adapt to his idgaf in your face style.

However, when you face players that are on par or better than you, you have to play patiently and adapt by observing why you are losing instead of doing the same things looking for a different result.

You can see his fundamentals have been pretty non-existent in these sets, only using sweep and tap/ds.
I just wish he would stop being a cry baby and fucking play the game correctly instead of just trying to bully his way in recklessly.

Oh and before someone talks shit, In no way am I saying I could do better, just that he’s doing worse than he should be from lack of patience/fundamentals.

He seemed to agree with most of that on Twitter today. He was just blinded by salt yesterday. He’ll learn from this experience, he’s a smart guy.

Rog himself made a video in which he outlines safe distances for dash punches. He should know better, but i guess if his comp in USA isn’t challenging them then what can ya do

It’s funny that PR Rog said that himself, that Rog is better in 2/3 set. This looks very familiar and a 2/3 set also LOL.

he’s got the right idea tho with a character switch. he wants to go nuts so he needs a go nuts character

highest of high level rog is a turtle. maybe that changes in ultra. maybe not.

since he’s been practicing mainly on Xbox live his play style really changed, he played more smarter before

its official, infiltration went all the way to japan to get mothered.
korea weakest fgc country kappa

Wao looked good with those ultra reactions.
