Pretty awesome stuff.

Edit: He’s vsing Nashfan now.

Topanga World League starts tomorrow and goes through Sunday in Japan. Participants are…

Daigo Umehara (Ryu)
Fuudo (Fei Long)
Bon-chan (Bon-chan)
Wao (Oni, Dudley)
Infiltration (Akuma, Chun-Li)
Xiao Hai (Cammy, Evil Ryu)
PR Balrog (Boxer)
Xian (Gen, Guile)

FT7 format. Sounds like it would be awesome to watch right? Well unfortunately it won’t be viewable outside of Japan.

What time will Topanga start at?

I had a hard time finding out. However on the topanga twitter…

Rules (From srk homepage)

TOPANGA WORLD LEAGUE will share the same rules as the most recent A Leaugue, but as a simple 8-player round-robin. Matches are played first-to-7, with limited deuce rules: One player must have a 2-game lead to claim the set, but if one player reaches 10 wins, the match ends. Each player is allowed two characters, and can switch after 3-game intervals, if the player was the loser of the previous 3 games.
Also the prizes (from srk homepage)

2nd Place – 500,000 yen (~4820 USD)
3rd Place – 250,000 yen (~2410 USD)
4th Place – 100,000 yen (~965 USD)

Looks like Arturo is starting a small Twitter campaign to get Topanga and Nico to change their mind about making the event Japan only. Basically retweet his tweet to show that you’re interested in paying for the event.

I think it’s pretty much just Nico’s decision, but hopefully Topanga will speak up for us once they see how much people want to watch their event and are willing to pay for it. On the other hand I can see people thinking to themselves “why are we begging them to let us pay for their event when they don’t even seem to care about us”. I guess I don’ t have a good answer for that. But we have to start somewhere and maybe this will be the first step to help make those guys realize their is a foreign market for their event so they can better advertise it to us and make it easier for us to purchase it in the future.

I don’t mind them doing PPV, I’m not too fond of their pricing but it works for them and I would still love to watch the event live if I can and am willing to pay for it. They don’t want to bite the hands that feed them and Nico might be doing a lot for them, such as putting up the pot and holding the event in their building. But hopefully they can come to some compromise or all this is going to do is rub people the wrong way and maybe turn them off for good if they ever try to expand in the future.

LOL!

Xiaohai and PR Rog just did back to back perfects on each other.

This is gooooooood.

tbh outside of daigo, i dont think those are even japans top 4 players. japan is DISGUSTINGLY strong.

That Focus cancel Ultra by Rog was amazing.

Daigo is unbelievable. How often do we see Rog get tooled like that?

Bonchan isn’t a top 4 player in Japan? Who would you consider to be top 4 right now?

I need to see that Bonchan vs Infiltration match.

Mago sabotaging his future competition, top-tier metagaming Kappa

might be the last tournament ( with this upcoming Evo ) that we witness Daigo Ryu :frowning:
