USF4-PC on Steam is SUPERB NOW? *GASP*

better wait for an EU release first

Why? Most of the player base is coming from Japan and US. O_O I’m waiting for a price drop, screw 30 bucks, and screw 20 bucks when it’s on sale.

terrible.

Thanks Yorkey
I’ll try these settings.
Just so I’m clear you setup steam beta participant via the Steam settings menu.
Reason I ask is I saw a video on youtube made back in August:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zneGkS6mbfs
he right clicks on the game within the game library menu and sets it to beta and enters a code.

And KingofParody, haven’t tested Yorkey’s settings myself yet but why do you say 35 DL and 5 UL is terrible?
are the settings you run better for your setup? I’ll try both and see which is better for my situation.

Appreciate the input fellas! I’ll report back with my findings

as you know I updated the steam app up to the new beta.
so I reinstalled the game to test it.

still horrible.
horrrrrrrrrrriiible.
awful disgusting lag.
phooey.
no difference.

uninstalled.
fuckin Capcom. I want my money back.

^
same. actually the lag was worse for me. i just don’t get this shit.

EDIT
finally uninstalled this game. it’s not worth the frustration, especially the little hiccups after a knockdown or a special move which throws everything off or eats your inputs. hopefully SF5 will learn a lot from SF4’s PC ports.

I’m just gonna get Blazblue Continuum Shift extend to satisfy my competitive spirit for fighters. I hear even if its input delay it has really great netcode. They say better than console version and like the best online for a fighter on steam(Skullgirls excluded)

So here are my results from last night. I’m pretty pleased and hopefully it wasn’t just a fluke:

I what Yorkey/eventhubs said, however I didn’t do the DL/UL because I couldn’t find that anywhere in the settings
Ingame max Ping I went with 1500 as a test per eventhubs and was going to move down the line to see what worked best.

after that I benchmarked my game and followed a video from WNF with Alex Valle setting up the PCs graphics. I know I had to tweak my BF4 graphic settings to get the best experience. My PC could run BF4 on the Ultra settings but it’d didn’t provide the best online experience in doing so.
I duplicated Valle’s settings to the letter and benchmarked my game it ran at 250Fps and looked amazing.
I remember benchmarking it on GFWL and it was right at 300Fps so I was a bit surprised to see it down.
At any rate the only setting I had to change was the anti alisasing which is now set at 16xCQ or something like that (it’s the last option) Vsync is on and frame rate is fixed the other settings are all High with the exception of shadow which is set to extreme.

I fired up endless and had 4 possible green bar lobbies. and the lobby I got in there was virtually zero lag and what little lag I experienced was no different then playing on XBL when it would hiccup at times. I played a total of 8 matches this way. I’ll stick with these settings for the time being.
If it stays like this then BOO YAH!

Here is the Valle video so others can view it too: You can skip to 37:41 to see the final settings they use for WNF, which is what I used. they do switch framerate to variable to show off what it does but don’t recommend that for online.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5ultVjW2cc

In GFWL Blazblue CT matches between EU, Japan and USA players were feasible. Would be interested to see if this happens also in CS:EX Steam release

Well I’m convinced my lag problem is 90% resolved, yes it will lag but it is no different than XBL and it is on a rare occasion.
Fought several opponents and I’m tickled. Highly Recommend you all with problems give these settings a chance. Maybe it will work out for yours as well. My main problem with PCs is what works for one may not work for another, but anything is worth trying.

I am pretty happy for you!!! It’s nice to see that the game starts to work for more people. Let’s hope it stays like this.

Did they fix the in-game V-Sync? Because it has always been said that one should either turn it on the graphic card or use some software like D3DOverrider…

It was actually always on for me “in game”, all the changes I made were in game graphic settings
the fella with Valle in the video I posted mentioned if you turned it off you can get screen tearing, which is ugly of course.
Like I said though I just mirrored WNF’s settings.

yeah, but thousands of other fellas have been saing that it is better to use the V-Sync of the graphic card or some software that makes this… but anyways…

A good acid test for the new polling changes in the Steam beta client will be when Valve pushes these changes out as a formal release. That way people who are not aware of these tweaks (and haven’t manually opted to participate in the beta) will in effect have them forced upon them once the changes are considered stable.

So far I’ve had slightly mixed results, which I feel is a reflection of some people simply not having these changes applied on their end also. For example, ranked was previously such a coin-toss in terms of connection quality that I simply never bothered (private lobbies are perfectly fine), however yesterday I played a few random ranked matches and the experience was on par with private lobbies sans maybe a couple of games. It’s also entirely possible those couple matches were simply against idiots connected via wireless or slurping down torrents.

Friends of mine who previously experienced unplayable and severe lag against one another in ranked games (who have both since applied these changes) have mentioned that the difference for them is now night and day - i.e. the game is now playable again.

However, these tweaks don’t appear to yield consistent results for everybody. As others have mentioned also, some people I know have tried these tweaks and they don’t have any effect at all which is a real bummer.

Here’s hoping Capcom pump out another update for PC users, or at the very least communicate with us a lot more. Their silence throughout all this (while feverishly blabbering about furry costumes and Omega mode) has been pretty piss poor. Their Steam community portal for USFIV (until recently) has gone ignored for a very long time.

the settings i had always resulted in a benchmark of 100-200 fps. i’ve tried the AMD Gaming Evolved thing and it seemed to help a little but after watching this video i wonder if i should put vsync on either through the game or through the card by itself. i don’t know if this will do shit but now i have to redownload this fucking game just to try. damn my hastiness! also, didn’t know this problem was still there when it came to ranked. i’ll try only in endless from now on. i’m almost certain that ultimately this is going to end up in disappointment.

By chance, did the beta setup made the game slower for anyone? I’m probably just seeing things.

Glove - unfortunately I wouldn’t even know where to turn my graphic card’s vsync and leave in game off. I’d be willing to test it out but right now my results are pretty awesome. I say try both for yourself and see what works best for your setup if you haven’t already.

Hope it works well for you pootnannies

Hahaha’ Get’s the job done, gives me great matches on Laggy Fighter IV too (unlike you) soo screw you! This netcode> GGPO and every netcode that will exist

I thought there was a new beta for a minute. Seems like some guy just came by to say “video games are hard to make” and then left again.

Cool video games.
