1st match, canada (domestic) - perfect
2nd match, canada - one minor lag spike (1 second), otherwise, perfect
3rd match, canada - unacceptable. The entire match was constantly laggy
4th match, canada - perfect
5th match, canada - notable input lag, but playable
6th match, canada - perfect
7th match, USA - perfect
8th match, canada - perfect
9th match, canada - significant input lag, unacceptable
10th match, canada - one minor lag spike (1 second), otherwise, offline quality connection
11th match, canada - significant input lag, unacceptable
ping indicator bars weren’t considered because they’re completely unreliable. For example, the 1st match was a 0-bar connection, but played perfectly
overall, the netcode has improved on my end. There are still background pinging noise inferred by the matches that had irregularly lag spike(s), but the matches with constant input lag were probably due to the actual ping being over 100ms
I am getting ready to just give up on the PC version and getting the 360 version of the game. I’d have to pay to play online (and obviously buy the game again), but I’d happily do that if it means I could actually play the game without having to suffer through random slow down and other nonsense.
I am sure the 360 version has the largest player base too and better players, and I do have a generic stick I have never used for the 360 so I’d probably get better too…
Fucked around with my router today (a lot).
Played 2 games with a Finn just now and shit was really good, not a single freeze almost as if the guy sat next to me.
Can’t test further since buttons woke up my gf and I don’t want to summon the dragon.
Even if it works completely now, I’m pissed that I had to mess with my router when shit ran fine and dandy on GFWL.
I already had a good experience in the beta, this update is icing on the cake, feels not quite on GFWL level or even XBL level, but above PSN, to put it accurately.
I kind of figured that some of you might still have problems, cause if you think about it, that 1.03 net code patch doesn’t really change much. If you go to the blog and look at the change list, the first two changes don’t even matter if you only play 2 man lobbies, and all you really have is the third change (which is a great change) to fall back on. (the one with input delay allowance from 15 to 35)
For me its slightly better. The most noticeable improvement is with the input lag. At least now my moves will come out with notieable input lag as oppose to not coming out at all. I guess thats a plus. everything else kind of feels the same sort of.
lastly, I do want to mention that when ultra first came out on pc a buffs for Ryu didnt carry over. The accidental c.mk xx shoryuken instea of fireball is fixed now. It wasnt before when ultra was first released. I dont know if anyone else noticed.
I feel like it’s just a tad below XBL now, i’m cool with that, the only thing i think they still need to fix is bar representation, it’s not as accurate as XBL’s. At least on XBL when you search for a match and it tells you, you have green bars with so and so, most likely it’s true. If they added ping on the PC version it would be solid online.
played good 2hrs yesterday, there was absolutely no freez , they seems to be completely gone , i used to always have a freezs on the first match even with peoples that i dont lag with, then it will freez somewhere at 10th matchs, now its all gone and good
Whomever they have outsourced Ultra’s PC development to needs a kick in the arse and their contract completely severed. If it’s an in-house job, they need to seriously question the credentials of those who feel they are up to the task. We’ve dropped developers for far less than what these guys have fumbled (and for an extended period of time) so I’m curious to know exactly what Capcom consider unacceptable.
I guess the bottom line is that the title has ‘sold’ copies.
For me personally I find private lobbies are a little snappier and consistent and definitely on par with GFW, though public lobbies and ranked remains problematic and subject to far poorer connection consistency. Its a real bummer having to run private sessions though as it cages everybody off from one another and makes meeting new players difficult.
As before, private games = really good. Public = essentially unplayable. That external polling process for available games evidently remains a problem and despite their efforts, continues to plague public lobbies with connection woes.
I had my hopes up for this fix, and I just can’t believe they have let their online play turn into this. I honestly can’t tell a difference. It’s very disappointing.
