USF4-PC on Steam is SUPERB NOW? *GASP*

People have always been asking for better SFIV netcode. And we’ve been asking for netcode that’s even functional since the game came to Steamworks and promptly fell apart.

The fgc doesn’t give a shit about online.
The guy is right.

Just go through the threads on Capcomunity and here when Ultra was announced.
The people didn’t ask for great online like Skullgirls and shit, they wanted new characters and balance changes.

He’s not you mentally challenged monkey. It’s a PC port. What do you think people are going to do with that piece of software? Play NPCs? If its not supposed to be played online dont sell it on a platform like Steam that is online only. There wouldnt even be anyone complaining if the experience had always been this shit. People are pissed because they released a new patch, netted the money for it and now are like “welp, performance is shit who cares?”.

People basically paid money for the developer to fuck up the game. You wouldnt be pissed if you pay a mechanic to check up on your car and after he made you pay for his services it suddenly starts to have a crapload of problems?

Unbelievable. How far is that companies dick up your throat?

How about you go and kill yourself you fucking faggot?

Honestly what kind of a cunt raised you that you’re the first piece of shit that starts personally insulting members you don’t even know, in a thread that was perfectly civil and fine?
How about you go back to the whorehouse you call yourself home and ask your mother to teach you some fucking decent human behavior, and while you’re at it get some reading lessons you fucking mongoloid.

Hey guys…we can settle this in a FT5 :^)

" He’s not, you mentally challenged monkey."

" Mongoloid."

This phrase and word brought me much joy and laughter.

The mongoloid is definitely right about one thing: People here are saying " It’s everyone’s fault for not asking Capcom for a better net code, everyone asked for Balance changes instead!" Are you kidding me!?..

  1. People have BEEN asking for a better net code, even asked for GGPO, but most people were fine with the net code AE12 had. GFWL and XBL had great net codes for v2012, anyone who says otherwise probably lives in the middle of nowhere, and probably doesn’t know how a net code even works to begin with. (or might even just be salty from losing to online Blanka’s and just can’t hold the L without an excuse) As far as PSN goes, who cares.

  2. He’s right, we basically payed for a buggy glitch filled game with a horrible net code. When AE14 (Steam works edition) came out, I had JUST pre ordered Ultra, only to find out how horrible Steam works was, I hoped (just like everyone else) that it would be fixed by the release of Ultra, but to my avail, it was not. You don’t just pay for a game to get shittier, especially after every other previous iteration of the game has been fine. Capcom could say " fuck you guys! Muhahaha! You herpes infested transvestites, were dropping the beta, it’s costing too much money, sooooooo scccccccrrrreeweew you!" Some how this game will still be the number one fighting game, while other amazing FG’s never see the light of day, barely get a taste of being on stream, let alone get their own forum section like the trash that SFxT did. Well to be fair after the SFxT v13 balance/bug patch, it became an OKAY game.

Even if I were to destroy Capcom Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon style, knowing their fanboys… " shadow of Capcom" or " Son’s of Ayano" would be born 10 years later. An organization dedicated to bringing Capcom back to life, and will deny everything Capcom has done wrong, despite photo evidence, and even video with HD sound recordings. I understand this is the company that brought us Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Mega man, Powerstone, and more. But they just aren’t THAT company anymore man.

The net code is not as bad as people make it out to be though, after the beta, i’d call it “okay.” (godlike GFWL you will be missed, yeah i used them in the same sentence "f*** you."
Better just to play on the still great XBL netcode, no reason not to.

I was simply saying that “no one” meaning only a very small group of posters ever asked for better netcode for the game. 99 percent of the other people were like “GIEF MIKA PLZ!” or “BUFF MA CEREKTER!” and that’s what those lazy fucks at Capcom basically gave us, except that they didn’t give us R.Mika and instead of buffing shitty characters and nerfing strong ones, they made good characters even better and partly nerfed shit characters while also buffing them so they end up shitty again (Dictator, DeeJay etc.).

See I would like to know where in my post I state that Capcom did a good job at what they delivered or where I got their cocks down my throat?
I was merely stating that the guy who posted that shit was right in that they did what the community asked for (M.Bison scissorkick nerf lol) with the lowest monetary effort possible.

You know at first I thought they were outsourcing Ultra to another company (this update wasn’t made by Dimps like every other update), because they fell out of favor with them, contract obligations ran out or the SF team simply got fired from there or something, but looking at it now that they announced to let Dimps do SF5 or SF Zero 4 or some shit, it becomes apparent that Ultra was just a low budget rip-off and money injection for them and everybody in the fgc including SRK embraces that low quality piece of shit, which is sad.

I seriously feel like SF has run its course when EVO and SRK.com take shit like Ultra and start feasting on it and cherishing it like it’s the next best thing.
What the community should do is shit on this game and write critical articles about it, while tournament organizers should play fucking AE.
Nobody gave a shit about Super Street Fighter II, so why do people hype Ultra?

I’d argue SSF2 had more quality to its product than Ultra.

We all know they destroyed the steam version with Ultra…but…is there any chance they changed the netcode on xbox360 too because since i downloaded it, Ultra is literally unplayable for me both on steam and xbox360

No clue, don’t have a xbox but something that helped me play the Steam version:

Had to go to my router settings and set my own pc to DMZ (demilitarized zone) meaning I basically give up all defense on computer.
When I start up Ultra on Steam then, shit is unreal.
It’s really fucking good. Like I almost have 0 lag during matches only once on average per game the game slows down heavily for 2-5 seconds (probably due to synching) and goes on normally after that.

As soon as I deactivate the DMZ feature though, the game is literally unplayable and lagging all the fucking time.

It’s not my computer or router though,
I can play Skullgirls, Dota 2 and even console shit I play online like Demon’s Souls perfectly fine. Never had problems with online gaming before Ultra.

We’ve been hearing that fix since AE. Still totally unacceptable that anyone would have to do that to make a game functional.

I’m not having many problems with Ultra on steam. A few lag spikes here and there for some matches sure, but everything is pretty playable at the moment. Hopefully they continue working on it.

I warned everybody, saw this coming a mile away. Capcom did not disappoint, people are already discussing the next balance patch and angry about how Ultra turned out. SF5 or Alpha 4 is already in the works, so I doubt Capcom cares much about updating Ultra.

Here is a “snippet” from a conversation with Wbacon a week or so ago…

Because I couldn’t get anything concrete I didn’t bother to share it before now.
But we can take some things from this…

It is not possible that something is not happening at all when you consider that we do have updated trials and online edition select to be added yet (both off which we were promised more details about after all digital releases were done)

So something is certainly happening in the background somewhere, I just think it is disappointing that any further fixes to online likely won’t happen before the patch/es to get the new features come to the game.

The part that frustrates me most though is the fact that if this is correct, we have not had any of the promised further announcements yet about the patch that includes these additions (even console players are in the dark about it) and considering they would announce a date that is likely to be about a month or more in the future it leads me to fear we will get static silence on the matter for another month+

I think at this point one of the more prudent issues is to significantly reduce the hosting player’s OPEN lobby availability broadcasts (Endless and Ranked), or disable them completely unless the host’s chosen settings satisfy exactly what a client is querying. At this point it looks like hosting players are spewing out a constant stream of lobby availability UDP broadcasts to the point where it completely saturates their connection making it utterly unplayable unless the lobby is flagged as private.

From what I understand so far this appears to be one of the main latency problems the game has and I’d like to think that Capcom is working on fixing this issue as there is a lot of direct evidence in support of it. The catch is that fixing this will require a competent developer who understands both the game’s network and Steam implementation at a solid level.

I have to say though that when I run (or join) private lobbies, performance is perfectly fine for me - i.e. comparable to the previous GFW releases. I’m curious if this is an across-the-board experience for everybody else or if those of us experiencing perfectly fine PRIVATE lobby performance are a minority.

Starting/hosting a public endless lobby or playing ranked however is utterly unplayable and is an inconsistent mess that is no fun to play at all.

Surprisingly the last few days i had pretty decent connections and great connections with people from friendlist on steam, where before it was really bad. I did open the ports for Steam but i’m not convinced that was the reason it improved. Xbox connections were iffy also before, so it might have been my connection for a while. Still getting that matchmaking menu lag and lag spikes in public lobbies, private is “fine” though. Interested to see what the update might encompass.

ive only been playing by adding people and playing privately…any other way is failure…lag spikes for 2-3 seconds

Which is why good players like Valle, PRrog, etc. have all switched back to playing ranked on XBL when initially they played on PC during release right?

After checking out Twitch to see if some of the claims here about equal number of streamers (as well as equal online quality supposedly) for PC as well as XBL I’ve noticed the only few left that are still streaming on PC are trash players.

Same for me too.

User creates lobby… leaves slots open.

Match making will system will ping anyone hosting… up to 5000 UDP pings (max value steam allows).

The TTL is set in the IP packet to a high value.

The hosters PC cant copy with all these connections where everyone with sends him 5000 requests.
5000*2000 players = 10,000,000 connections incoming.

Those with poor CPU are hit hard and lag badly… Those with good CPUS dont see too much lag.
The lag clears up after 5 mins minutes as the TTL value in older packets expires and it eases up. Then the cycle repeats.

Its why the menus lag, the OS has to handle connections in the background. Its also why private connections dont lag at all if youve never
become pingable. This means searched for a game in ranked or endless within a 5 mins period.

We could help by changing Settings-> In Game Server Browser = 250 max pings per minute. So everyone pings everyone less and accumulates less packets.

This is all just my observation and from what I know of internet packets.

I could be wrong.

I’m just pissed that they not only botched Ultra, but also ruined AE in the process.

USF4 works fine with me now. Playing with other beta users within Europe is getting me near flawless games for extended periods of time, I’m talking like 3 hours of uninterrupted set running.

Sure it still feels “Online” where you lag behind a few frames and sure sometimes you can feel it, but it’s few and far between. Only time it’s been lagging for me is when I’m running hearthstone on another monitor or something, it feels like it needs to hog as much internet as possible to work perfectly for me.
