I think I’ll just pass on the pre-purchase. This ain’t looking good and we haven’t even gotten any official response regarding the problem?
It still kills my desktop computer randomly when playing online, but hasn’t crashed on my work laptop yet.
I’ve gone back to vanilla SFIV for now anyway, which still works despite being a GFWL game.
I see alot of whining about steamworks, but thats not the issue here. The netcode is peer-to-peer and only uses steam to match you up with players, steamworks is NOT a netcode. I dont know why but they changed something in the netcode, for me its pretty much flawless since I have 0 packet loss. BUT, if you have packet loss this netcode will be horrendous. Check your routers people: http://www.techfleece.com/2011/03/10/how-to-check-for-packet-loss-between-your-router-and-computer-connection/
I’ve only had issues when my connection is poor. With RenderingThread OFF and no AA, I’ve been doing pretty well. No discernible lag when playing with friends. Obviously not going to be the same for everyone and ranked is completely random, but haven’t people with the issues been testing it out with each other?
Yeah… I came from GFWL and I’ve experienced absolutely no difference… sorry.
WE ALL KNOW ITS NOT STEAMWORKS THATS THE PROBLEM.
WE
ALL
KNOW
THIS
ALREADY.
This Steam version is not the same game of AE that is on GFWL.
THATS
THE
FUCKING
PROBLEM!
This new Steam server version is the Ultra build of Ultra SF4 without the Ultra content downloaded yet.
This is why the game sucks hard.
The GFWL version of AE is NOT the Ultra SF4 build without the content.
We are experiencing the same exact issues that people are experiencing with Ultra on ps3 and xbox360
its just our issues are far worse.
jesus fuckin Christ.
why do the very very few people who are having few issues with the game swear that everyone else don’t know how to configure settings and run a damn game smoothly?
Why cant they accept that its a bad port?
if 90% of players are having issues, and you don’t…why would you find it hard to believe USF4 is a bad port?
jesus.
take a look at like, lets say DMC by Capcom.
hate the game, but admit its the greatest port of a console game on pc. Almost no one complains of having technical issues with the game. runs smooth as silk. buttery smooth on max settings. For Everyone bro.
Then look at Alan Wake.
Or Naruto Storm burst on steam. Almost everyone has some type of issues that cant be resolved no matter what you do.
its fucking called a bad port.
I know you are just trying to help everyone and we appreciate it…but seriously man, we’ve tried everything already, and the game still fails.
and fails hard.
lets stop being delusional about it already.
the Ultra upgrade coming in 2 weeks isn’t gonna magically fix anything. if they do finally fix the lag issues it’ll be months from now. maybe even never.
I myself really hope and wish they would fix it soon. but its not gonna get resolved anytime soon.
Um, no. Unless you can explain why this is helpful. Is there a benefit?
- If you preordered ultra for $20 u got all dlc.
- All DLC+Base game costed like $11 a few weeks ago
- For like 4 straight weeks the game itself costed ~$7.50
- The netcode is exactly what it is cracked up to be, front page of its steam group is like half “netcode bugs”, half “what controller do you use?”
- If you used an xinput pcb then u could add a button to the xbox home button and Steam BPM will handle the rest. This isn’t a problem with the game, its like this with all controllers UNLESS you use Steam Big Picture mode.
- STEAM BIG PICTURE MODE
- Read above statement, and check to see if your custom PCB sends an input Steam Big Picture mode will accept for its menu, chances are it does/can.
- Achievements lag your match but I’ve not once experienced this. Again, the netcode is broken so expect problems, this is obvious and seen anywhere where Steam SFIVAE is being discussed.
- Want custom music? Disable music in game then go into Steam big picture mode (see 5,6,7) and select ur music… Steam has a music browser now.
- Remember to use Steam Big Picture mode, its really awesome for console ports since its basically a better version of the console interface plus u can controll the browser with ur arcade stick if u want to. U can send messages and everything.
One last hardware point, make sure ur PCB is sending a signal that windows likes. PC can take anything as a controller if u have the driver, but not all software is ready for it. 360ce is a good software for odd signals and it mimics xinput. if your pcb sends somethign that windows sees as xinput then ur home button should work on big picture mode (see 5,6,7,10). Im sure it does it with PS3 pcbs etc, but if u have one of them fancy ps/xbx/pc pcbs u can always put it on xbox mode or w/e and Steam BPM will accept ur home button.
I’m repeating myself for your own good. Welcome to PC gaming pad-wan, the path is long but the honor is great. My only issue with ur post is it states the obvious that everyone has been stating since it arrived. By now everyone should know that net play on SteamFIVAE is trash.
Ya, na. Works great on my end. Are you upset?
This game is busted for a significant number of us.
If it works perfectly for you, then great.
Fuck off and go play it.
If PC online doesn’t work for you, read my guide on how to try to fix it, it might help.
Of course there could be people on toasters or really random hardware-constellations that this won’t help, to them I apologize. But if you’re experiencing networking issues, check it out.
For me it’s mostly the fact that it’s not even close to 90% and I had these issues myself until I fixed my shit (got a new router during the transition).
I am now (and have been) playing the alleged “Ultra SF4 build without the content” online, on Steam, with no lag unless the connection is actually laggy.
You know how in Inception Leonardo DiCaprio was convinced the whole time that his wife was crazy to think they’re in a dream, but it turns out they actually were and he just couldn’t see it?
In other news, I got word back from Crapcom that they are working on putting the All-In Costume Pack back on Steam, but there is no ETA.
It’s something, I guess.
Might just be my ghetto mouse but I noticed when my mouse slipped out my computer, the game lagged…I could move my opponent couldn’t move…so I’m like is this the early stages of a lag switch…everything I used this mouse and it’s faulty wiring…I had connection issues…I haven’t figured out why yet…could be my mouse or the actual usb port (so far it’s the mouse) but I dunno
so basically when I play now I just have my fighstick harddrives plugged in…if i need my kb/mou i just tap them in
ive finally played Ultra on x360, the input lag is horrible, the game lag on ultra animations ( even on Ryu ultra wtf ), even the shitty steam version is smoother

@ParryPerson. This is my point. People that didn’t have issues before now have issues. Hence, its a bad port.
On
All
Platforms.
double Hence,
Which is why I said what we are all thinking but don’t want to admit to yet,
Its
A
Bad
Fuckin
Port!

Started playing the steam version after a long break. I remember the GFWL version working better regarding lag. I have 100/10mbit connection and I get lag spikes almost in every match. Even when I’m playing against my fellow countrymen. Also I tried switching between WLAN and LAN. Just to be sure I still have to try direct LAN connection to my router, but seems that the problem is somewhere else than my connection. I tried some network tests and getting pretty steady results and no sign of latency spikes.
Evo2014 got me excited for Ultra but now I don’t know anymore…
also if anyone was planing to buy an xbox360 for Ultra, dont do it, i guarantee you its a shit ton worse in term of input lag than the PC version, if you have an average internet like me, the lag online is horrible , its basically Vsync lag + online inherent lag, try to imagine that … anyone saying x360 has the least input lag never tried the PC version or is just talking out of his ass
on PC you can reduce the input lag for free online and offline just by disabling the Vsync wich is impossible on x360, granted xbox live has a lot of players and the level is a bit higher , and now that i tried the Xbox vsync, the PC vsync work as intended, its not too much lag or anything, we’re just used to turning it off
Hi all who are experiencing lag; please refer to the following guide: http://steamcommunity.com//sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=286685649 and see if it helps. I did this for a different steam game and have not had problems playing SF4 AE since the Steam transition.
^that’s already been posted here. literally on this very page.
and opening up dmz and port forwarding helps…a little. but it still goes bonkers. one minute its close to offline, next minute waiting for other player/lost connection to opponent.

I’ve never played the ps3/xbox360 version. I only say 360 version is best cuz other people report it as such.
so you are saying the pc version is the best version?
yikes.

Its interesting to know.
Versions I’ve played:
Arcade versions in UK & Japan on CRTs. Obviously the gold standard.
I played the 360 version offline a lot and I know its similar to the arcade version. But never online.
Played the PS3 version online loads but never offline much except training room. I know thats it has horrible input lag, very hard to anti air,
stage lag (except training room), slow loading, ghetto wireless users, inherent 2 frames of lag, bad players who try online gimmicks and succeed with them.
***PS3 is the worst version hands down!! ***
PC GFWL version was very good - the best online experience for SF4. Very little input lag, fast loading, high resolution. Good community of players.
Less gimmicky. Good interface, easy to type messages. **The best version of online play! **
Steam version. Its got bad netcode, “waiting for the other players…” popup. Players you could comfortable fight on GFWL version you cant fight them anymore.
Plus the messaging system and match making system needs work!! Some matchs are playable whilst others are downright broken and major buggy.
