For Sakura, you can do s.LP, walk forward s.LP in the beginning to gain 5 damage, tieing her with Seth at 242.

I don’t understand your Abel combo though. cl.MP working form that range is the exception, not the rule. And surely cl.HP would work if cl.MP does? This is more universal:

I’d also look over every other combo that relies on linking a close normal after the two lights, try them on characters like Hugo, Guile and Balrog.

Couldn’t get it to work on anybody I tried it on, including Ryu. and It definitely won’t work on hunched-over characters like Balrog/Guile, right?

If you want to be like that, then show me you can do it on Balrog, Guile or Hugo. I can do it on someone like El Fuerte no problem, but those characters will not be hit. And it’s not like you have any time to walk between the hits either, I can’t get walk cl.HP to connect, much less cl.MP. I managed to land it into cl.HP on Ken, so I see what you meant originally, but these characters just won’t let you close enough to land 2 moves into a close. Despite working on Ken I can’t get it to work on Ryu though.

EDIT: I landed it on Ryu… when he walked towards me. Neutral definitely doesn’t work. I tried a recording that worked on Ken on Ryu, wouldn’t work. And on Ken it was really inconsistent, probably related to Ken’s neutral animation.

No walking, just neutral standing combos. The tier list is for near universal combos. Doesn’t matter how impractical they are. As long as it fits the rules its fine.

Please. It’s not like I’m pulling out character specifics. That Abel combo works point blank. If you can’t get it that’s just too bad. I can’t do Honda and elf combos but I wouldn’t call Bullshit on the ones people post because I can’t get them to work. Actually upset that that Dudley combo is the best I could do. It’s not fair. I wanted top 5 for Dudley. with dudleys jab hitbox buffs he can probably loop more than 6 characters consistently.

Sit and practice. If it doesn’t work that’s tough man. Also why doesn’t Knife Codys c.LP, c.lp, s.MP, c.lk connect? Would be cool. (waiting on updates lists. I’d like to fill in the rest of the characters or at the very least list the ones without combos.

sMP with knife causes more pushback than most mids. Instead of being 1hit at 0.5 distance it’s 2 hits at 0.3 distance. Another one of those reasons why the knife juggle “buff” was useless since he can’t reliably combo into any move he can hit the reset mid screen except for 1 specific combo for an additional 20 damage. Woo.

I don’t know man. I’m just finding out about the knife juggle myself. Sure its shit wheb there’s always MK ruffian, and probably will never have a knife anyway, but its there for situations where you land a hk Ruffian while holding a knife. I can see me opting to use a bar for ex Ruffian into knife juggles.
Knife pick up was cancelable since 2012 I believe. At the very least it adds to the mindgames.

Knife pickup cancelable to block you mean? Yeah. Otherwise it’s always been cancelable to chainable attacks/specific specials/super. Unfortunately the cancel timing is on 14F for attacks so even sHP - knife pick up - Criminal Upper is too slow and since he can’t cancel into non-chained normals even on counterhit sHP - knife pickup cody can’t combo to anything (Cody is actually negative in this situation and even though he can cancel to block it’s possible to punish him with a throw, especially now that EX Criminal Upper is vulnerable to throws and Cody can’t cancel knife pickup into his Ruffian kicks or Zonks (even if he HAD charge for it) or ultras so he is completely vulnerable to throws the whole time unless he wants to EX FADC (drops knife costs 2 bars) or do his super.)

HK Ruffian - knife normal doesn’t work except on specific characters at specific distances, and only in the corner usually. Go ahead and try it. Not only does it knock the opponent too far for any knife normal to reach, but there isn’t enough time to get the knife normal TO reach unless you hit the HK Ruffian around the last 3-4F of the active frames (and then it’s just walk forward - crMP which does less than MK Ruffian which does more damage, builds more meter, and has better positioning after). Also HK Ruffian has a very high tendency to trade as it has zero invincibility, a 7F startup, and a very large hurtbox (hurtbox during startup and active frames are actually taller than Cody’s normal standing hurtbox). If HK Ruffian trades you drop the knife.

Funny thing is, even the BEST situation for the knife juggle you can just do an EX Criminal Upper and get the same damage as a HP knife juggle. F+HK - EX Ruffian - sHP = 336 dmg. F+HK - EX Ruffian - EX Criminal Upper = 336 damage. LP Criminal Upper - crHP knife = 240 damage. LP Criminal Upper - EX Criminal Upper = 220 damage.

At BEST it saves you 1 bar, doesn’t really open up anything he can’t do (and get better positioning + a safe jump) without the knife.

I’m calling bullshit on you here though, so prove it’s possible. There’s nothing to practice here, it just doesn’t work. Against Balrog you can walk forward for like half a second after the two lights and you’ll still get the far version of your normal. Eternal, I want to hear your opinion on this as well.

Anyways, in all seriousness. I tried it on a bunch of characters and I couldn’t get it to work if they were standing. HOWEVER it seems to be pretty easy vs a bunch of the cast if they are crouching which isn’t that unreasonable.

Maybe crouching is OK? I don’t see anything in the rules about it.

Standing it works.
Works like one out if five times. It’s one of those combos that’ll definitely work after a jump in but is near impossible to do on a neutral standing character.

There’s nothing to really argue about. There’s no reason to be frustrated over a single combo. All you’ve been doing to the thread since you started posting is trying to pick at the rules. I got no time for that.

Oh,and the combo works…poorly…like really really poorly,It doesn’t work on Ryu,Ken,Akuma,E.Ryu,C.Viper,Dan,Blanka and EL Fuerte,but it randomly works on Sakura sometimes,most of the times doesn’t,and I could get it to work only on the right side.So yeah…

If you have anything that can record video, you can simply point it at the screen while setting the training dummy to record. Looks like crap, but as long as you can see what’s going on that doesnt matter. And I wouldn’t be “buttmad” if you could just accept it doesn’t work on even close to everyone. Chaining to cl.LP works on several characters more, but still not on all of them. The difference is that it starts sooner since you chain into it, which means you haven’t been pushed back as far yet. And I did contribute a replacement combo, didn’t you notice? Do you think I’m picking on you when I post better alternatives to your combos, because I’m not. I’m simply saying that there’s a better version, and it’s better for everyone to post corrections like that right away instead of doing it later when it’s already put in the list.

@pepo: It randomly works on Ken as well, and it definitely works on El Fuerte, but yeah, it’s still way too inconsistent to fit in this thread if the goal is to post something that works on nearly everyone imo.
