FINALLY Done with Juri, almost 4 1/2 - 5hours on ONE character.
Blanka’s c.MK just feels weird to me, have they done anything to the hitstop of that move, or something else like that?
Yes. That is how A LOT of moves were modified to be more advantageous or less advantageous. It’s pretty much a crap shoot if they changed it via frame data (Vega’s closeMK, Zangief’s closeMK), hitstop (Deejay Kneeshot and MK Sobat), hit/blockstun (Adon’s crLP, Tornado part of Cody’s LP CU) or a combination of hitstun AND hitstop (Blanka’s crMK, Cody’s crMK slide)
With Blanka’s crMK here is what they did:
On hit:
Reduced Self hitstop by 1F. Reduced target hitstop by 4F. Increased target hitstun by 4F
On crouching hit:
reduced self hitstop by 2F. Reduced target shaking impact freeze by 1F, reduced target hitstop by 5F, increased target hitstun by 4F.
On hit/block increased pushback from 0.5 to 0.6
O, and they adjusted the hitstop/stun to be exactly the same on counterhit so it gets no additional frame advantage anymore. Derp.
I should probably note that the impact freeze is different on crouching opponents vs standing opponents now that I think about it.
Started work on Yang. Thankfully he only has TWO versions of all of his normals (and a couple of specials) to deal with. Much less frustrating than Juri’s but still a pain lol. Hopefully be able to finish him tomorrow and start on Yun. fingers crossed
He is so short that even Ryu’s neutral jump hp only hits him during certain frames of his idle animation.
Not sure if this was posted yet, but I find this to be a huge issue as I jump over fire balls to punish with Akuma. His medium jump kick seems to wiff A LOT and from a multitude or ranges, particularly the range at which you can punish someone for a badly timed fireball …
It just has less active frames than the animation suggests I assume. Many jumping moves are like that. I think GOuken’s j.HP does the same (it was some jump-in I used that kept missing (That was a down-angled punch) during my recordings at least).
I see, that sure explains why it looked so weird when I did c.MKx3 on cr.M.Bison.
yeah blanka’s cr.mk is fucked, i wish they’d just revert it to AE2012 version at this point.
was just adding one frame of hitstun or removing 1 of recovery that hard?
Oh a note on vega, it’s not just his reeling animation that has an issue, but something is up with his proximity/pushbox. like for instance on crouching vega blanka can do cl.strong and still be in close normal range, this doesn’t happen on any other character. But in conjunction with his reel hurtbox blanka can’t link cl.mk which is 5f startup.
Basically blanka can barely combo him crouching because of those issues combined.

EDIT: Works on cr.Cody and cr.El Fuerte as well, but cl.MK only connects on Cody.
saying specifically with blanka i’ve really only noticed it vs. Vega, and it happens on block too which is weird.
on cody/seth/fuerte i notice i can double cl.strong with decapre at times, but it’s actually not a detriment to comboing them because they don’t reel out of the way in the same manner that vega does.

Crouching in general causes oddities with proximity detection. Cody can do 2x close MP vs a number of characters, including the general “default” of Ryu. He can even do counterhit clsMP - closeHP.

Yang finished, Yun started.
Got into a bit of a groove and stayed up all night and finished up Yun. All that’s left now is the 5 USF4 characters which I’ll have to do by looking at their files in text format instead of using ono since I can’t open em up in Ono. On top of this, I don’t have access to the characters to test things, and I don’t have access to their complete frame data to check things. These last 5 are going to be a PAIN IN THE ASS.
For those of you curious, the thread has just broke 15,000 words. Current count: 15283 words and 86887 Letters/characters.

Target combo j.mp> j.HP doesn’t work on most characters.
st.HP whiffs very frequently even when trying to punish the grounded recovery of a shoryuken point blank.
Occasionally EX Rhino horn passes through an opponent during the active frames)
Poison
If an EX fireball is done point blank it often whiffs vs crouching opponents. (passes through them)
If the first hit of cl.mp is blocked the second hit almost always whiffs.
@Eternal I hope that eases some of the suffering. That’s as objective as I could make my complaints.

If you or someone else could post a video of some of those it’d be immensely helpful. Especially the Poison closeMP, Elenas sHP, Target Combo,and Rhino Horn as I’ve not seen those yet and the cause might not be obvious when looking at their files. Really wish I had access to Ultra atm lol.
I don’t think poisons ex fb whiffing point blank on crouching characters is a big deal because it is not a real match situation and is a draw back of the benefit of it starting so far out. If capcops fix that they would just make it start out normally like everyone else. The only issue with her ex fireball is that it whiffs on crouching chun and rose after a canceled cr.hp anywhere on screen because of their reeling animations.
Cl.st.mp on paper seems like her best normal but whiffs entirely on crouchers and yea whiffs half the time on standing opponents too. Or second hit whiffs etc

Working on Juri atm, she is about to take the crown away from Cody for “character with the most shit needing fixing”
I didnt really think she had that many issues…
You know how that graphical error viper has with evil ryu and oni? Well not only does the graphical error effects her ultra, it effects her burn kicks, thunder knuckles and makes seismos invisible.
