I think it might be very viable if they try a reversal that puts them in the air. I know Yuns upkick is pretty easy if you x-up tatsu stuff it so I’m thinking fei’s flame kick, or sagat/seth dp might be easy as well.
Im not talking about that. Over the last couple of days people seem to be losing their minds over being able to whiff a normal to get a raw standing U2. I’m just saying isnt that old tech?
Anyway you guys wanted more st.mk, I tried to use it throughout this match
Well cross up tatsu U2 is as old as U2 being added to SFIV though. But not everyone were around here at this time so there gona be new players discovering stuff other know from day 1.
Sometimes I think I just might not be typing the right words. I was never talking about cross up tatsu -> U2. I meant the string of videos that came out and got posted of whiffing a normal (like st.lk) into a raw standing U2. I was confused because people were talkin as if it was new tech but it was more like day 1
I get what you’re saying. It was more about it’s potential AA use than the wiff u2 tech.
I got you right the first time.
Again, there will be people that have not seen the previous discutions and bring stuff others already know. That’s all I meant.
is it just me or has Guy gotten significantly better. I keep getting my ass handed to me in this matchup which didn’t used to happen in AE.
He kicks my ass something awful lately. His bushin flip grab hitbox needs a nerf. That thing is like half the screen
Agreed. I also used to low profile him with ease and still can but something is different because I’ll expect an elbow drop and get caught with a normal kick instead. Seems much more ambiguous than in the past. I know they buffed his walk speed and his ex reversal kick is now 2 frame startup.
His corner game is crazy and much harder to get out with his faster walk speed. If a character gives me a lot of trouble with akuma, I can usually switch to Ken or Chun for a more favorable match but it doesn’t help much vs Guy. Ken is a little easier and Chun, my strongest character right now just gets destroyed. I’m not sure what to do with match now and I can’t find any usf4 akuma vs guy matches on youtube.
Guy I think is still pretty even, but it’s a turtle match up because neither character can do much to each other. Once you learn how to stop the horse crap by both sides you find that the neutral game is one giant rock-paper-scissors game.
I’m trying to get better at using cr.mk to lower my hitbox and avoid the grab and elbow drop but Sol hit it on the head; it’s just a big guessing game between the two of you and comes down to who hits the right buttons at the right time
I feel you, I got annihilated by a Dudley, some weeks ago. He just pushed the right buttons like every fucking time. And I always try the normal punish instead of guaranteed SRK mashing punish on the -3 shit he did. This though applies to any other matches I do online. And I’m running after my momentum because of that. Not having safe jumps anymore is sooooo frustrating. You need the right punish or you’ll keep losing the life faster. Tough game now.
Terribly frustrating now. I love playing Akuma but going for a normal safe setup, not noticing the dwu tech sign and then getting punished hard is really pissing me off. Akuma is still my favorite to use but I find it can be mentally exhausting using him for extended periods of time. You can be in control, large life lead and then have the whole thing turn around on you because your opponent decided to DWU.
Low profiling with cr.mk seems to work very well on dudley’s jump attacks and can net you a u1 as well. Also been having pretty good results on sakura. Also great on the shoto’s, especially air tatsu.
Something I never knew; apparently non-Ex versions of Claws wall dives don’t hit on the way up, so you’ll get weird situations like this

Ultra 1 and any tatsu should be good! Take advantage of the reversal window
Ugh I hate punishing it with Ultra because it gives the idiot 2 bars to EX Q-Bomb FADC for free pressure in the next round.
I use u2 against elf. no body splash or command throw splash on wakeup
Do you think it’s a decent idea to just avoid U1 for the most part considering how much meter it gives the opponent?
