I’m not saying he deserved to die. But I will say that if you’re going to make mistakes like this, don’t do it in a country where it’s going to be a colossal one that could even end up fatal.
Basically, if you’re going to tour North Korea as a westerner, and you have any fear that you won’t be able to act nearly robotic and won’t harbour any intention of practising any religion while in the country, then you legit need to consider going elsewhere.
Like I’ve seen North Korean customs cards before from people who have been. They roughly say something along the lines of, “Don’t bring these items into this country, failure to do so is punishable to the fullest extent.”
Yeah, don’t bring contraband and they won’t put you in a labour camp.
I think people are just upset that so many people are making fun of the dude. The kid is dead and his family is obviously devastated over it. It just rubs people the wrong way when people are laughing over something terrible.
I think the kid did something really dumb but didn’t deserve to die. I think a lot of people feel that way.
Hopefully people learn from this kids mistake and stay out of shithole countries like North Korea.
Now i am wondering what kind of horrifying shit he was put up to to get in that coma.
Maybe something like this

From a technical aspect I was actually somewhat impressed for a “pop” group compared to Worst Korean pop groups. They got them playing instruments and shaking ass.
Those broads were probably what enticed him to go. Probably saw them at a North Korean restaurant in China and got sucked in by the fever that you can find in a Crayola box.
Ok sure. But i’d bet money that if you guys got taken and thrown into North Korea overnight, with zero homework or prep time? You wouldn’t last a month on your own without pissing off the law or violating a custom in SOME way.
Like the article i linked to about Eric Bischoff’s book. You could very well get your ass kicked just by talking bad about NK over the phone, or in a public place where you’re overheard by passing police.
This “kid”, as repeatedly stated, chose to steal something from North Korea of all fucking places. Even forgetting the fact that this is NK, one of the main rules of traveling abroad is don’t act like an asshole. Now I’m not arguing that he deserve to die or even spend 15 years busting rocks with his nails for doing that, but in the end Otto was responsible for Otto actions. I’m pretty sure many people the same age as him know not to fuck up that badly in North Korea. Basically Otto made a stupid choice of his own volition that in the end cost him his life.
So how much do you know about littering laws in NK? Some countries have strict-ass laws about littering, wanting to throw you in jail for a few days or hefty fines or something. You could toss a tiny bubble-gum wrapper on the ground and be seen by somebody. Bam, you’re fuct. Not realizing how their law is.
Hell, you could be staying at a similar hotel and have one of those political signs fall on the floor by accident. You go to pick it up and place it upright, thinking nothing of it. Next thing you know you’re being accused of tampering. One thing leads to another and a month later…you’re dead as shit like this kid.
And SRK would be like: “Durr play stoopid games, win stoopid prizes lolz”.
