TvC doesn’t have 8 way dash like mvc2 and 3 does! The button layout is sorta the same as TvC though which is cool I’m used to that already. I feel like a crack fiend waiting for mvc3 and mortal kombat.
and even sooo mvc3 button layout isn’t finalized. it could be changed to original, justin wong has stressed that the layout isn’t form fitting for marvel. i hope seth killian really holds his word close bc if they keep it classic style, i will be most grateful.
but shit, i been on a sf4 kick lately. anyone up in gville wanna get up and gather?? if u want 3s, i can do that too. my makoto is ready for the release.
Button config has been in pretty much every single fighting game for quite awhile. Doesn’t really matter what layout they choose, you can switch it to your preference:tup: Also, I don’t see how you can put it back to classic style anyways…it’s 3 normal buttons and a launcher…so you would have to put either medium or hard where light kick usually is, do people just not like the layout of where the assist buttons are?
A B C
Launcher Assist1 Assist2 is the layout I believe…so I’m just not seeing a way of making it classic with having a designated button for Launcher. I’ll have to get my hands on it at the fight club in Hotlanta to see how it really feels, but in my mind I think the current layout is fine as is. Although hitting A + assist2 might be a bitch. I’m used to hitting lk + psylocke with my thumb and ring finger. A + assist2 I think I would be using my index + pinky finger? That being said, if I can’t get used to that, I might have to config my buttons to make it feel more familiar hitting attacks+assist at the same time.
Hey I’ll get on some MvC2 with you online, even though I’m a JOKE at it… I just mess around on it and REALLY REALLY suck… but I’d definitely like to get geared up for MvC3…
well, i guess i just have to deal with whichever way it is going to be. it’s mvc3, of course i’m gonna play it no matter the layout. i’m down for some mvc2 online keith. i’m never online so just text me. 8642097648.
I’m always down for marvel even though I’m pretty rusty!! What button layout were you wanting for mvc3 John? I thought a lot about it, would like to see other marvel players opinion on the matter!
hmm… i would rather see.
1)lp(mp) 2)hp 3)assist1
1)lk(mk) 2)hk 3)assist2
and then for the launch or exchange button (whatever it’s called) could be all 4 attack buttons.
So you want MvC2, but harder?
You have more chances of breaking a game down with more inputs and attacks. I wouldn’t say harder. If you can’t mash 4 buttons simultanious then you are scrub (unwilling to adapt). Besides it is the same input as a power up in Tekken. Which is, IMO, a good idea to get down-pat if you wanna get offensive advantange with Lars in transition between a distanced knockdown.
all 4 buttons is used to activate X factor :wgrin:
hey everyone! phil, that sucks about quantium x, man…i’m really looking forward to the next gvegas, good sir…you know how to get in touch with me, i think :). johnny quest, not sure if i ever told you…but a huge thanks for running the last tourney in anderson, sir…i had a blast and can’t wait for the next one
ur welcome dude, thanks for coming. but yea it’s going to be a while for another can take place bc i don’t get any vacation time until after next yr. there could be another anderson tournament sooner, but who will step up? honestly, idk. i heard our friend eddie “dub” from ashville, nc was doing a cook out for his b-day. BUT i dont know he maybe lurking around. i’m sure it’s an invite only sorta thing…
xfactor?! seriously? like is that for sure? or are you fuckn wid me??
Yea X-factor is activated with all 4 buttons for sure. Can’t wait to play this Thursday!! I am really hoping all the characters announced are available to play:confused:
ah, ok! well thanks anyway. i don’t know him but that sounds like it’d be fun
also, gg’s on xbl last night…you got to see the scrub cammy/chun
Ggs to everyone in that room. Def. need to play more and wish for a different game. =)
gg’s man, don’t hate on ssf4…i love it :P. nice RANDOM ASS roo haha and i still have absolutely 0 idea how to approach deejay or punish is sobat kicks…ugh
just lev an alt in WOW now i will go back to SSF4 and somestarcraft.
ssf4 has become the game to hate on for no reason. in all honesty we have never had it so good. ssf4 is about as balanced as it is possible to get and with the exception of the ultra system(i hate someone getting a powerful move for getting their ass kicked) it is just about perfect. and even the ultra system makes it more fun to watch.
in my opinion there are just a few great fighting games that still hold up today.
SC2
MVC2
ST
cvs2
3s
and ssf4
all the rest like kof98, ggac, mk2, ect where all great for their time but these are the only ones that are still as good as they ever where and are still getting better. enjoy the good times guys.
on a side note after watching the stream at seasons beatings MVC2 has gotten so technical, that game is fucking awesome and i am sorry for hating on it so long for being unbalanced, i kept thinking about it as individual characters instead of looking at it as teams. when you look at it by teams it is very varied and doesnt just become about 4 characters but tons of teams.
i could not be more excited for MVC3 now. (and mk9 but that is a different rant.)
My thoughts on Marvel 3:
I really like it. It feels enough like Marvel to keep die hards around but is different enough to entice new players. I will definitely admit that the hardest thing in the game so far is the controls. There were too many times when I would go to do short+assist but short isn’t short and is actually exchange/launcher. I believe that TvC players won’t have any problem acclimating to the control system but, seeing as how I have barely played TvC, it took me a minute. Unfortunately, the build we had was an older one with only 18 characters so there was none of the Magneto set of characters nor were there any of the Wesker set. I plan to hunt down a (hopefully) cheap Wii fight-stick so I can practice TvC and get used to the button set-up. I fully recommend this game to anyone.

P.S. I got a cool MvC3 shirt and some Capcom shot glasses for standing in line. That’s what’s up!
+1. i wish i’d have learned cvs2 when it was popular…it just seems so much fun
