Upstate SC: The Land Before Time

Any uh players in the Chesterfield county area in sc? If so let me know because it seems no one here plays fighters from the looks of it…its usually always mw2 or halo…

So Marvel 3 is official now. So begins my integration back into fighting games.

Omg its MARVEL BABY!!! It’s on like Donkey Kong! I watched that teaser like 10 times.

So you can make your own brackets in SSf4 that hot so lets have a upstate tourney online some day.

It looks very TvCish - what did you think of TvC? It’s my understanding that it might have a similar engine.

TVCs system is ok just a bad system its on. I would rather have 4 buttons rather then 3 but whatever. And that game is rush city

TvC was an amazing engine. I think the only reason it didn’t take off was because of the obscure characters from tatsunoko, and of course the obvious factor of being on the Wii. I think Capcom’s decision on making it more like TvC is great. Not just because having only light, medium, hard attacks is great for the new generation, but also because of how balanced the engine is. If they give everyone an airdash/double jump besides big characters like TvC, it allows you to play any character and do well/have fun without worrying TOO much about tiers. You can make it like Mvc2 and have 5 characters playable, or you can have it like TvCish and have ALL the characters in the game playable. This is coming from someone who was smoking that soul sucking crack beast that is Mvc2, who loved it immensely. All they need to do is just make it a little faster than TvC to keep that Marvel feel to it, and it will be perfect imo. Overall, a giant step in the right direction!

oo yea one more thing, beserker barrage!!! k I’m done, get hype

wow where is that? like near rock hill? there use to be an arcade in the mall in rock hill back in the day. dag…memories. anyways, maybe there are some players left there or near there. your best bet may be charlotte. kyah might know, he is the oracle.

keith: teach me to play marvel.

Well put, KeithD. Thats one of the reasons why I love TvC.

LOL I’m the oracle? Sweet!

The unfortunate problem Seneyukensou is that you aren’t close to ANYTHING  Rock Hill had an arcade at one time, Charlotte has a good scene, there are a few guys on here from Sumter, and you could always go to South of the Border and play MK2 and UMK3 on some old messed up machines, but from the looks of it, you’ve got about an hour to get to any of those locations. Columbia and Fayetteville also have decent scenes, and Justin (SonGohanX) runs tournaments in Myrtle Beach fairly often, but again, you have even further to get to those places. So I guess it all depends on whether or not you are willing to travel. Thank God for the internet, right?

I personally didn’t want to invest the time and money into TvC that it required (was a joystick necessary?) so I never jumped on it. I’m pretty excited to try the same engine in a new game, especially when said game has as rich of a history as Marvel.

BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW WHO THE ORIGINAL KING OF MARVEL WAS…me!

I played TvC once at LFG and I really liked it. I sat down with someone’s stick, picked it up and was beasting people in no time. Unfortunately, being a Wii exclusive, I had no desire to play it competitively because I will never own another Wii unless I buy one just to mod it. The air dashing with everyone was great and like Keith said, it gave just about everyone a fighting chance. Sure there are tiers like any fighting game but you could still win with the other characters. If they make Marvel 3 like TvC, that is fine with me as long as it still feels like Marvel which is what they are shooting for. The graphic style is kind of like SF4 with comic art layered over the top. Hopefully they layer it enough so that there is no ounce of SF4 in it. I am excited guys. I reserved it today at Gamestop. I was the first around here and possibly one of the first period. Hell I may even pick up a copy of SSF4 to pass some time. Cody and Ibuki look fun but I don’t know yet if I want to drop the 40 bones.

On a personal note, my foot is finally almost healed back up to full power. I would put it around 85-90% right now. Also it seems I may never finish school. I thought things were good this semester until my step-father died and then I broke my foot so I ended up with only 1 class due to missing a buttload of classes. Oh well, perseverance is the key. It may take a while but I will get there. I am back at Quick Point(formerly Sav-Way) working. I just can’t get away lol. New Indian owners are great guys and the job is actually better than it ever has been so there is that at least. I am single and have no desire to change that. I tried the alternate route and we see how that ended up so I am going to make sure I am good. I never want to become one of these people that NEED a significant other. That just isn’t me. Sorry I started rambling there heh It is late and I have work in a bit so

Adios
Kevin

as someone who never finished college, i say get that shit done at all costs. I was lucky enough to get a great job but only after working shit ones for 10 years to show i could handle it. Trust me kevin it is alot easier just to get it done. I interviewed 4 times for the job at wspa that i have now and came down to the final interview everytime over the years. but because i didnt have a degree i was passed over everytime but one, if you add up the amount of money that cost me i estimated it to be around $270,000 or around $30,000 a year from what i am making now to what i made those other 9 years. another two years at school would have cost me $20000 needless to say stay in school.

My puplic service anouncement is done.

1: TvC did need a stick. Cause waggle controls and one button supers were just gay.

2: so when MvC3 comes out, does that mean I get to once again face the “original king” of Marvel? I hope so…

Of course, I accept all challenges

It’s funny, the only fighting games I still play on a regular basis are SF2 Hyper Fighting and Killer Instinct, because we have machines at my local card shop. And that’s only in between rounds at Magic tournaments

any luck on anywhere selling super early in the upstate?

Is it wrong that I think of tier lists as a cheat sheet for the lazy?

I understand that it’s probably the only way to win tournaments, but then what would be the point of having all the other characters in the game? Didn’t we learn this mistake from MvC2?

I’m probably wrong in this matter. I’m just sick of hearing people ask what the tier list is for a fighting game before they even play it. Such a waste…

ok i got a copy of super early at kmart call all your kmarts to see if they have it. the game is bad ass, everyone looks able to compete so far, but i need more time with it. Go get it now. i got the last copy at my kmart so it probably wont last long.

Well K-Mart and Wal-Mart were a bust and it looks like I’ll be waiting till GameStop get’s there shipments in.

Has anyone played the Samurai Shodown Sen? Looks interesting…
