Yeah mostly Tekken players around these parts, but I’m pretty sure we all play SF as well. So now theres more SF players up here, because the Tekken scene died out. Haven’t seen any SC4 players either. Hopefully Tekken will pick back up around here in the fall. Doubt it though.
Guess ill have to show up for a lil while on weds, expect some good matches =p
i just got into fighting games but I’m picking it up quick. been learning things from a few guys at playntrade. I’ll be there weds. hope to see some new faces.
there aren’t any sc4 players because that game is trash
Play 'N Trade
So is it free play on Wednesdays and Saturdays or what? Is there a fee? Or is there a tourney every Wednesday and Saturday?
Well Starting wed. There is a league starting. Im in the process of making a facebook group for the league but I am waiting for some official paperwork from the play n trade manager. As of now the league will cost 5 bucks a week. You only pay if you want to take part in the league.
This 5 bucks alows you to play like rank matches with other league members in (as of now) Street fighter 4 and Tekken 5(i believe they will have DR soon set up on the ps3) The league will last 3 months and at the end the 3 top spots take store credit prizes.
Dont quote me on this since everything is not official just yet 1st takes in 250 , 2nd takes in 75, and 3rd takes in 50. Im not sure on all the prize details yet or on how the rankings will be calculated. Im just spreading the word lol.
Those 5 bucks alow you to come play wed and sat. and also allows you to play either game. If you dont plan on showing up one week you dont have to pay anything plus your rank stays intact (obviously it may go down if ppl play more than you because your not there)
Even if not 5 bucks to play in an arcade environment, and being able to learn, play, and spectate is enough for me. The prize chances is just icing on the cake
And lastly this is a community thing so the store is open for suggestions on other games, especially since a few of us have even agreed to bringing equipment to play other things. Including me (Hand full of fighters on saturn and dreamcast)
Why do you consider it trash? I’m not trying to defend it or anything I’m just curious.
Soul Cal 4 isn’t trash especially when compared to 3. I think it’s a pretty good game. Couldn’t tell you why he thinks it’s garbage. IMO from what I played and saw others play, TvC is busted. Reminds me completely of MvC1 but with only 3 buttons. I didn’t like it at all.
sc4 is cool not a game i get serious in though, just for fun.
I still gota try TvC at least once it looked kinda fun
Is TvC Tatsunoko Vs Capcom? I’d like to try that.
I always liked Soul Calibur. I haven’t had much time with Soul Calibur IV though. I don’t own an Xbox 360 or PS3.
Yea its Tatsunoko vs Capcom hopefully one of the guys bring it in sometime for some fun. As long as ppl come at some consistency i will try to learn games other ppl play. I will play most seriously in anything SF though.
Anyone interested in playing casuals for CvS2, Alpha 3, Super Turbo and of course SFIV tomorrow? I’m considering showing up well before 5 with my PS3 which IIRC is completely fine.
Actually all of the above. Problem is i dont have a stick for ps2/3 yet so i guess pad it is. Cant get there any earlier though i get out of work at 5 but ill be there quick im only off of exit 6 on northway for work.
this post sums up the only reason worth playing that game. (SC4)
Paul and I were talking about how much easier it is for a scrub to take out a decent player in SF compared to tekken, and somehow we got to talking about SC4. As Paul summed it up better than I did, the gap between a good player and a scrub is extremely minimal in comparison to the gap between a high level and a good player in SC4. Therefore I would rather play echo the dolphin than waste any time on that stupid ass game as I get frustrated enough with SF haha.
TVC is going to be just for hilarity and sheer fun value because the game as I’ve said is an acid trip on a screen. That won’t be anything I take seriously either.
Any SF4 players in New Paltz…or areas close to New Paltz?
I don’t think any scrubs have a chance in any 2-D fighter personally. Well…any of the good ones. They are much more complex than games like DOA and Soul Claibur. This is my theory. Any game where more than one attack comes out of the same button is going to be more scrub friendly because they just mash buttons. Best example is Hwo’s 3,3,3,3 what scrub doesn’t use that shit? If you continually press the X button in SF they aren’t going to get anything but LK’s. Which isn’t going to do anything. But yeah, thats really why I can’t take SC4 seriously, is because anyone can come up and mash buttons and beat me. But when played right the game is pretty fun. They just need to bring back the ability to GI throws. You have to randomly guess which throw you’re being hit with to break it and that’s just retarded.
2-D scrubs >>>> 3-D scrubs
Thats y in tekken i just learned that one combo ken kept abusing with asuka and spam that shit lol. Ima destroy you all with my tekken spam.(nope you guys are too good lol)
i completely agree with what you said about sf spaming one or two buttons aint doing anything in sf.
You aren’t talking about scrubs in tekken, you are talking about the button mashing idiots that literally have NO knowledge of the game that just walk up and play and most likely don’t even own it. Also compared to SF4 not previous renditions because of the hilarious leniency of inputs and the ‘get your ass kicked get an awesome move’ meter. If you can fireball, DP, jump in and sweep, and throw you are already in decent shape. When I would joking around play one or two rounds of previous street fighters I couldn’t ever get anything to come out how I wanted it to but in SFIV it’s like half the technical effort is needed. The fact that I can get any wins in SF against anyone remotely decent is a joke in itself because I have almost zero knowledge of the game and am really not that good. Where as in Tekken I was consistently getting my ass kicked for ages until I learned more about it both on paper and on the machine.
A bit off topic, have you gone into training mode to practice throw breaking in SF4? It’s really funny, you should try it sometime. lol.
Lol i remember on sat you kept complaining about throw teching because we were throwing at the same time but i was winning the throws lol.
The only thing i hate about sf4 is the shortcuts for the dragon punch. And the game turning you around when you get crossed up.(while doing a reversal such as a dp)
I was being outlandish about everything on saturday hahaha, but it is funny. You have like negative 10 frames to break a throw in SF4 or you get tossed.
