Blanka’s EX Up-Ball is a 4 framer, but I’ve seen some Akuma’s use safe DF palm to bait it out. I’ve used it on occasion myself after a f.throw (2 x Dash xx MK DF Palm) and it works, but maybe I was getting flukey or my opponent wasn’t timing the reversal correctly.
Mustve been late timing. You cannot safejump 4 frame reversals off a forward throw 2x dash unless its an empty jump. Even though Blanka gets up 2 frames slower off other hard knockdowns he has a regular wakeup time off forward throw.
You can land before he balls, but often the attack will whiff. I am not saying it is impossible, but it is really hard. I prefer to begin with empty jumps to see what the Blanka player does. From there I adjust my game to get the most of it. Still Blanka is easily one of the hardest characters to pressure on wake up. That ball is just so good.
no he doesn’t wake up regular off forward throw…
After f.throw against blanka i usually go for st.hk, hk demonflip divekick, optionselect HK demonflip backwards against his ex up roll. Or just do demon if you have it
@nu skool interesting table u got there.
so, these faceup/down stuff different compared to forward throw? i always thought from forward grab gives u faceup situation. hence blanka the slowest.

Well gentlemen, for better or for worse AE drops tomorrow. We will see how we fair against the army of darkness aka the Twins.
Well, hopefully it’s the same as with Cammy - scrub players can be managed, but good to great players will be a real problem for Akuma.
Lmao, that is absolutely not a scenario to be hopeful about.
Against blanka off a f.throw you can dash x2 mk flip kick and his ex upball will always whiff and you can punish with whatever you like. You’re gonna get hit by wakeup ultra tho.
Yun is gonna be way worse than cammy because:
-
cannot tatsu sweep him (imagine the cammy matchup without tatsu>sweep)
-
he has normal wake up timing. Cammy wakes up slower meaning you can do a bunch of specific setups on her. These won’t work vs yun.
-
yun has a fucking command grab. Crouch tech and get frame trapped by his godlike normals (which cammy really doesn’t have) or raped by his multi angle divekicks. Stay still and eat a command grab for 250-500 damage
-
Cammy’s dp is so punishable it’s not even funny, yun’s dp is actually hard to punish
-
if you throw him fireballs he’s gonna get one GJ per round because palm+fireballs = crazy meter. Also, ex shoulder goes through fireballs, does good damage and juggles
-
ex lunge…that’s not specifically akuma’s problem, but it’s so stupid it has to be mentioned
Honestly seeing Eita getting bodied that bad by momochi’s one week old yun was kinda depressing. I can see some OS getting discovered to make his upkicks whiff and punish them hard, but even then, it still looks really really bad.
I have confirmed the unblockable works against E.Ryu. You guys can double check, but I got it to work with me trying to block.
I actually got my hopes up when I thought I had found one against Yun, but it turns out the training mode record was glitched with yun. When I tried to block it myself I was able to do it easily.
The twin’s reversal does feel like at least 5 frames. Yang’s LK version come out faster than his other versions, but I have confirmed it can be safe jumped. Palm can even beat MK and HK verisions of his reversals cleanly.
Oni can freaking unload on you in the corner. I was able to do a realatively easy to do combo for 583!
yun’s lk dp is 5 frames, ex is 4 frames. No idea about yang, probably 5 frames tho.
What’s with that Oni combo? Still didn’t mess with him at all
I finally got to play some last night…Oni’s different to be sure. I’m going to have to sit down and really take my time to play with him. As for Akuma, he seems to be for the most part untouched. I was afraid I would have to change my timing on the x-up tatsu due to Capcom nerfing its runaway potential, but it was all unfounded.
I haven’t met up with any Yun players yet, but I only played like 6-7 matches total. I did meet up with an E. Ryu and an Oni…
Has anybody else noticed that something is different with the inputs? Possibly a bigger input window or more negative edge, I’m not sure.
I just put it down to more lag online than usual… Or are you talking about offline in practice? Didn’t notice much difference there. Then again, I only spent about 45 minutes in practice trying out Oni for the most part. The only thing I did with Akuma is practice x-up tatsu which worked pretty much as it had before.
Offline. I played offline for an extended period and something feels different with the inputs.
Shin I was thinking the same thing too but my experiences were online. There was a few times i was buffering fb’s into my pokes and maybe a handful of times my poke whiffed yet the fb still came out. Never had it happen during vanilla super, even when there was noticeable lag.
Yang is definitely 5 frames for his LK. His other versions roll on the ground for a little longer so effectively they won’t be used as AA on wake up.
For Oni, FADC into EX Tatsu into either Ultra does insane damage. It isn’t hard to pull off, but I have gotten upper 500s.
I haven’t noticed anything just yet. Though at the same time I still need to sit down and play with it more.
