Played versus Oni a while, a few observations:
- Don’t bother with cross-up tatsus, his SRK kills.
- I got SRK’ed out of the exploding heart.
- Looks like you can safe palm his SRK on wake-up.
- Can be tatsu-swept.
Played versus Oni a while, a few observations:
It seems like his hit box for his SRK is mosterous. I got nailed by it when I went for a cross up on a non-auto corrected SRK.
His srk is 3 frame startup so thats a negative on the safe palm.
I didnt read the thread before posting so if this has been said already I apologize
Oni: tatsu sweep YES
Evil Ryu: Tatsu sweep NO
Twins: Tatsu Sweep NO
Should I create a new AE Matchup Thread? Main reason I’m asking is that the new forum software update seems to have a lower character limit for a post so I’m no longer able to update the posts I made. I definitely want to consolidate some of the newer matchup info so we can start putting the hurt on the new characters
Some simple corner combos I’ve found for Oni:
I didn’t note down the dmg/stun output, but it was close to 400/500 in most cases.
This one’s a bit more complicated and I wasn’t able to land it completely, but I’m sure it’s possible:
J. HK, st. HP xx HP hado FADC Target Combo # 2 xx EX Tatsu, Ultra 1/2
Evil Ryu’s hitboxes seem like they are identical to normal ryu. The sweep doesn’t work, but the unblockable does.
Little bit of info on Yang:
If he tries to EX roll under your hado buffer demon and you will catch him so long as he’s in the kick animation at the end of the roll.
Likewise, if he normal rolls under your hado you can catch him with a buffered demon but only if you do it quick, while he’s still in the roll animation. If he’s kicking you will get knocked out of your demon.
I only played a bit of AE and here’s what I’ve found so far:
Akuma:
Adon:
Yun:
Oni:
E.Ryu:
I’ll check his DPs later, they seems a lot like Ryu’s, but his EX definitely isn’t fully invincible all the way up.
Was just in training seeing what can be done against Yun off a forward throw. Couldn’t find any genuine safe jumps. Nearest I got was dash, dash, j.lp which stuffs everything but EX up kicks. Dash, dash, cross up tatsu can beat EX up kicks clean if timed correctly, but this loses to LK up kicks. So it’s a 50/50 game your playing, essentially. Cross up if you think they will use EX. j.LP if you think they are going to use LK.
The only other way is the usual way of baiting out Cammy’s DP: dash, HK DF palm.
Ok, exploding heart technique (forward throw dash x2 mk df kick) stuff’s light, medium and ex upkicks trades with hard upkicks. Conversely if you palm instead of df dive kick it’s safe to all his regular upkick. He needs to ex upkick to beat it. You can reliably pressure Yun with DF.
Hey guys,
I’ve been trying to find out some stuff for the Yun matchup today, here is what i found.
-The df throw > dash forward > ex.df dive setup works against Yun (he has to block the dive as a crossup, and this also makes all srk’s whiff).
If you attach os hk.df throw/palm, you can punish the whiffed hk.srk, punishing the whiffed ex.srk seems impossible to punish with os df, at least i could not get it done.
If you attach os u1, you will punish every whiffed srk (even ex), and also his backdash.
-The df throw > dash forward > hk.df dive setup (corner only), and the max range sweep hk.df dive work too(both make the srk’s whiff).
Os for this setups are the same, as in the setup above.
The negative thing for this 3 setups is, that yun can make them whiff, by doing nothing at all on his wake up (his wake up inv. will make the dive whiff), but he puts himself in a big risk, by not doing anything, because you could do a palm, and start a combo, while he is waiting for the dive.
-As someone wrote already, f.throw > dash forward 2x > jump uf.hk/hp or mk df palm works as a safe jump against all of his non ex srk’s, you can attach a delayed os sweep (if you do it too fast, you will get hit by the srk), or os u1(allows you to block too) to catch his backdash.
-Crossup tatsu into u2 works against Yun.
-If you are doing a setup for the tk air fireball, always buffer lp, in case the Yun player was doing a srk
If you see him doing the srk, input the rest of u1, and you will catch his whiffed srk (any version).
Same goes for crossup tatsu.
-If the Yun player tries to punish your teleport with lunge or u2, you can activate your u2, and you will beat both.
-Against a crouching Yun, you can do cr.mp,2x cr.lp,sweep.
The important thing is, that the cr.mp hits point blank(for example after a deep jump in), but it also works, if you are some pixels away from point blank.
-A lot of Yun players like to end their blockstrings with st.mp xx lp.shoulder, which is only -3 on block and does pushback which makes it unpunishable on block for Akuma.
But you can easily do srk or u1/u2 between the st.mp and the lp.shoulder, because the lp. shoulder got lots of startup frames, so don’t let him get the free chip damage, punish!
Thats it for now, I hope this helps!
Gado -
Yeah, seems like U2 is the way to go against Yun. Otherwise he could just punish the teleport for free. I’m not too clear on the part where you said “cr.mp,2x cr.lp,sweep”. I know you can link sweep from st.jab/st.lp on some characters, but from crouching as well??? Thanks.
The crouching jab is spaced in a way so that it would connect on it’s 2nd active frame instead of first, so you’ll have an additional frame advantage which makes this combo possible without counter hits (it’ll give you +6 instead of +5), this is hitbox and space specific though and only works semi-reliably vs some characters.
If you connected standing jab (close or far) you’ll always be able to link a sweep after it on any character btw.
I think this is a really good idea.
Also, what do you do against E.Ryu? yesterday i had mt first match vs a decent one, and he was just going nuts with divekicks and axekicks, so I was wondering how should i treat eveil ryu? since he can match akuma’s fireball war unlike ryu and his focus attack reaches really far, so idk, Im just unfamiliar with him atm, any advices?
Ninja edit: safe-ish jump vs Yun:
Throw, dash x2, walk, command divekick: beats everything but trades with HK dp…which is the slowest Dp he has and no one really uses it as reversal…but this setup beats all the other Dps, even Lk and EX, and also catches backdash, so no need to OS it.
Also the typical throw dashx2 j.HK os delayed sweep beats all his options, and you can punish HK dp with at least a cr.mk xx lk tatsu > shoryu
Not that I have matchup experience but going strictly off of logic:
-His cr.mk and sweep are solid but slow. Play careful footsies in order to avoid his FA.
-He shouldn’t win the FB war still since you have air hadous. Advance when he throws shinku hadou’s since the move recovers slower.
-Sweep into demon against FA’s is a necessity here.
-His health sucks, use FP SRK to end each combo instead of j. SRK for superior positioning.
-Divekick? Eh, all I can recommend is teleport sparingly.
-His teleport sucks, pressure him into using it.
All I’m wondering is whether the exploding heart technique works here. Probably does.
I wonder: He teleports out of divekick setup, you catch the teleport with U1? Gonna have to test that out, on paper I think it would work.
Im almost 100% certain you can. It’s possible to do it on akuma (and i think that if you delay the final b+lk+hp you can even get it to autocorrect?) and since e.ryu’s teleport is a lot worse than akuma’s, it should be very possible. You can probably walk up and do a cr.mp, cs.hp xx tatsu, SRK punish, since he has a lot of recovery and the distance travelled also isn’t very much.
FYI I created an Arcade Edition Matchup Thread this morning - this time around I used 8 posts to hold the information instead of just 2, so hitting the character limit shouldn’t be a problem. I am beginning to add information about to punish each character’s Super and Ultras, both on reaction and on block.
As always, I welcome any contributions or corrections.
Option select Vs Yang:
throw dashx2 j.HK/DF palm os Ultra 1: beats every option he has on wakeup. EX command dash is hit and proyectile invincible, but NOT grab invincible
after relatively close sweep immediate command divekick os U1 gives you the same result.
Time to stop complaining about the twins and start creating strats vs them people!!
So i just played the scrubbiest possible bison and cant believe the shit he did actually worked. It was 1-1 but seriously he didnt deserve a single win. I guess i need to learn a bit more about the matchup (and also understand lag has a huge factor).
Anyway this guy would just lk scissor, and st.mk or st.hk right after rinse and repeat. It was so predictable that even when i lp srked after each scissor it caught his hk but the fucking thing traded every time which would still put me at a life disadvantage. I was cornered eventually and couldnt press buttons and if i did I would get counterhit all day. What am i supposed to do here. I wasnt sure if i could focus dash to punish his hk either because i tried it once and he managed to scissor me right after i focused. =/
And about this. Yeah it is. Online Blanka is also super retarded because sometimes if they whiff their upball and you try to punish it you end up getting grabbed even when you are right next to them when they land. Its fucking retarded because I usually just punish with a standard bnb but if you do the hp too early it ends up as a reset and if you try to time it right, well they grab or electricity you…
