Why wouldn’t it scare the crap out of anyone really lol, regular dive kick characters made people paranoid with their pressure/throw game even when OS tech/cr.mp was used, add to that a good command grab with stupid range and I’ll be mashing that DP like there’s no tomorrow (of course the game will be over after one bait =().
I just realized that we lost the safe palm thread. Which is a shame because it had all the wakeup times of f.throw, sweep and palm and reversal times for all the characters.

I gotta check the wakeup times again once AE is released in-case Capcom decided to change some stuff and to see how the new characters behave on wakeup, specially the twin bastards lol.
i dont know what the f to do against adon in super…should i just say fuck and wait until AE so i cant vortex him properly? i feel i cant do much vs him at ALL
AE will be out in like 10 days, I say save yourself a lot of headache figuring out special setups vs Adon’s ridiculous wakeup and rape him when AE is out. Tokido mentioned on his blog that Adon’s wakeup time is totally normal in AE, his DP is a 5 frame reversal too IIRC so it’ll be pretty easy to safejump him and apply all of Akuma’s mixups.

TIL that Akuma’s command dive kick has a tiny bit of invincibility at its startup – Vega tried to air throw me and it whiffed. :o
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. It’s probably just Akuma’s hitbox changing as you did the command divekick.
I play Sakura and I was wondering, what do you guys think of the Akuma/Sakura matchup?
5-5. Sakura has no real answer for vortex pressure but she still hits pretty hard.
6/4 Akuma. Post knockdown Akuma can pressure very easy on her wake up. Pre-knock down they are somewhat even.
Any ideas about bad matchup for Akuma on AE so far?

The Viper match up hasn’t changed much. I have always thought that the match up wasn’t bad for Akuma. It is whoever gets their mix ups going first because Viper is nearly free on wake up.
I would say viper matchup is pretty even. Yun is 3.5/6.5 in my opinion maybe 4/6. Its a shitty matchup that is not fun at all.
People were saying alot of the same things about Cammy as well. Then we came to understand how to fight her and the match became pretty even.
Anytime a new good character is introduced it will be hard at first for Akuma. Akuma needs to understand which OS, punishes, reads and approach to the opponent to be successful. That generally means getting bodied for awhile but eventually we will figure out what needs to be done.
what about blanka…?
i feel like i’m missing something in my gameplay to deal with blanka better assuming this is a 5-5 matchup.
The one thing you need against Blanka…one hell of a lot of patience. Blanka is one of the few characters that are near to impossible to vortex. I’ve heard many people try to say Blanka has the advantage, but I find that both characters gimp each other equally. It is a 5-5 IMO. The first order of business is to shut down Blanka’s antics.
In a laggy situation Blanka gains a huge benefit from the lag, but in person many of his tricks aren’t that hard to defeat if you are ready for them.
The forward hop is actually easy to punish when you aren’t playing in lag. All you need to do is quickly intercept it with jabs before he recovers. This is a free combo if you are ready for it.
His horizontal ball can be defeated by nearly any normal if timed properly. Half screen balls are hard to react to, but full screen balls can be c.MP in reaction. You can also jab them, but I find the larger hitbox of c.MP to be a safer option. Once you get Demon no blanka should be trying to ball outside of combos you since you can punish on reaction with U1. If you really want to you can learn the 1 frame punish for his ball, but I recommend caution because a whiffed sweep is a free blanka punish.
His Rainbow balls are actually the easiest of the three to defeat. If he Rainbow balls use a focus attack. If Blanka hits you, he bounces up free for you to punish as you like. If he fakes out most of the time you can recognize it and cancel the focus before he can do anything about it. The only thing to be careful of is if he wakes up with the rainbow ball because a reversal ball armor breaks.
Against good Blankas if you shut down their antics they are forced to rely on their footsies and zoning games. This is where the match can become really really really really^(200) dull. Even if you get the knockdown you can’t do too much because the up ball blows almost everything up. There isn’t much safe jumping, your SRK doesn’t always beat the ball. You have to almost use a Balrog type wake up game against Blanka. You do have to worry about Blanka’s legit options. Blanks frame traps and electricity traps are dangerous and perfectly legit. You need to discipline yourself not to press buttons randomly. Blanka’s footsies are rather solid too.
