*UPDATED!*"Quit lecturing me and show me what you've got!"- The UMvC3 Zero Video Thread

You have a very smart mindset when you’re playing which is really good. I only really have 2 things to comment on:

1st: If you have Zero out and you still have Storm available as an Assist, use her for more mixup. You were seriously lacking crossup setups which is where Zero gets really difficult to block with. Storm’s Assist would be really good for that or even Tron’s if you have the chance. Zero benefits from a full screen beam assist like Whirlwind. Utilize it! Also if you’re in Sougenmu after a kill and you’re waiting for the next character to come in, don’t give them the chance to get away at all, call Tron Assist and C Command Dash next to the wall and do j.:h: with the Shadow backing you up, they can’t hit you or throw you unless you’re unlucky. Once they hit the ground, mix them up more! Zero can do the silliest shit in the corner since he has the Command Dash to go into the corner and hit them.

2nd: I like that you use the Buster, its a very powerful tool but I noticed you let it hinder your offense by practically only relying on the Buster as your approach. Zero has very strong pokes and using those are much more reliable for hit confirming into combos as opposed to say a grounded buster. Don’t be afraid to get in their face and hit them, you have Tron behind you, you can instantly make anything unsafe safe cause of how stupid good it is. If you can make your Storm rush them down, you can make Zero rush them down just as hard.

Just my 2 cents. You have a solid team with solid gameplay.

Oh one last note, I noticed you were dropping the j.:h: to Buster link a few times. You should learn how to Kara Cancel his j.:s: into Buster so you don’t have to worry about how long to wait, you just do it. Do the j.:h: then start the j.:s: and since its technically special cancel-able, let go of the Buster and it’ll shoot out of the startup of j.:s: Its a bit weird at first but its quite useful when you have a longer combo going.

They won’t patch out Sougenmu loops, and at this point they probably aren’t patching out the DHC glitch (it was discovered before the first patch and it still lives). Capcom knew damn well they were opening the door to loops by including Sougenmu in the game, . Outside of the corner you don’t get much more damage from Sougenmu than you would get just comboing into Rekkoha anyway. In the corner you get a ton more damage but every character has insane corner combos and the fact that you build no meter in Sougenmu whereas Zero’s non-Sougenmu combos build 2 full meters is a big deal.

You make a fine point, maybe I will learn them after all but I’m not sure if I’ll ever use them…might be fun to smack Wesker around though :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks man… last night during casual play i stopped doing the dhc glitch… i feel like my storm and tronne are very weak and i rely too much on the dhc glitch with zero so i stopped doing it to try and step my game up. im uploading videos of the set as i type this…

yea i noticed that when i re watch my matches… i dont feel like im using zero to his full potential. im also still trying to transition myself with the charge combos. i switch between :l: and :h: when im charging. as for the special cancel to buster… i cant do it… i practiced it alot but i always get the ender to knockdown and i lose the buster. guess im doing it too late… appreciate the feedback though. i slowly feel like my team is getting stronger thanks to everyones feedback

After I’m finished college (so the end of this week). I’m going to be creating another combo video with Zero. It will either be an updated and more in-depth sequel to my previous video (For Endless Combos), or it will be a team combo video featuring my team - Dante, Zero, Doom. The second video wouldn’t have the depth of the first one, but would likely have more new things to see and a little more flashiness, but wouldn’t be as detailed as the first video. I might make both but if I only make one which would you guys rather see? (Or if I make both which would you rather see first?)

ill like to help on that avarice

Awesome. I guess I’ll figure out what I want to include and we can decide how we want to divide up the recording/editing/whatever. If you’ve got new discoveries to contribute too then even better ^^. I’m not ready to get started on this quite yet, but I’ll keep in touch through here or PM’s or something.

Everyone needs to see this and integrate it into your Zero. You have no idea how amazing this is.

Even better limiting your opponents options in the corner… I dont even use zero but I keep thinking of shit for him

Dude Smexy great stuff. I havent done much with my Zero lately, Hes still very TVCish so I need to work on him a bit more and do more of the crazier shit.

The huge problem with this is the opponent is usually not going to just stand there and block and take the mixup. They have enough time to dash out of it and super jump away (or even air throw, maybe).

The best way to keep someone in a corner is to dash backwards after a knock down in front of their forward roll range while charging your blaster, then jumping. Shoot the blaster as they recover, if they neutral tech or roll back, they must guard the buster shot and the assist, and the cover from the assist will give you time to approach them for a high/low/throw/crossup. If they roll forward, they will roll past the buster shot but must then block the assist, and you’ll have enough time to react and mix them up from there, pushing them back to the corner. IMO the best assist for this is the Drones. Willing to bet a well placed Hidden Missile call will cover forward roll by having them roll into the missile launcher, will test this.

Also, I will make video for all this, don’t worry

3 New videos I wanted to show you guys for a while. Sorry for the bad angle but I had to hold the camera while playing.

Perfect example of how fast Zero dies… I honestly only know how to use Zero in this game lol…

Playing Zero properly wont get him killed so easily…

Sorry for the insanely late update to the thread. Now that school and such is over it will be much easier to take care of.

I tried to make everything look neater as well. still a work in progress though. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

This video is pretty shitty, it’s just some random match someone recorded of me in casuals when I didn’t know they were recording, but I figured I’d post it anyway.

First match my Zero gets bodied but I do a little work with him in the second round:

edit: before someone says “lol you dropped combos”, I’m so used to playing on LCD TVs and shit with lag that playing on CRTs was messing up my combos there lol. Especialyl with OTG dive into ammy assist where the timing is so tight.

sry for being nub n asking this but i have never played sf4 nor ever use sagat but im trying to learn the lightning loop and i was wondering what inputs does the term tiger kneeing means?

Tiger knee just means doing an input for a jumping move before inputting the jump so that you do the move very low to the ground. In the case of Raikousen (lightning) j.:dp::l: becomes :dp::uf::l:
