At 7:13 on http://youtu.be/_emzgWrpslU, Zero does a forward air dash, then a backwards M Hienkyaku. How do you do Hienkyaku backwards?
Steve was trying to do an M Sword Dive, not a Hienkyaku. I dashed under him (while he air dashed over me) before he inputted the move, and got a dash in the other direction instead a dive downward.
That, or it was an auto-correct.
Decided to keep it simple and just upload my BnB for Zero:

What do you think?
Here is something that isn’t Zero only, but I don’t know if you guys got to see it:

Here’s some pre-UFGT casuals. I’m probably not using Doom anymore, trying Magneto instead. So yeah ignore the other two characters, I only play this game for Zero.
But regardless, any feedback/suggestions if any would be cool. I know what I need to work on next is button switching outside of combos so I don’t seal A the entire match. Also don’t look for my UFGT footage, I played terribly, which is why I’m linking this instead
If tron has 3 meters always push block her drill because she can cancel it with a level 3 grab and you’ll loose a character.
You can combo after the Hard drive also without x-factor, it’s really easy and it deals more damage then a simple dhc.
Why you never try to air throw?
Also the only time you did it you didn’t follow up afterward.
Good matches.
I try air throws with doom, because it’s basically a guaranteed 100%. Reason I don’t go for air throws more with zero is because it’s pretty tricky to combo off of back airthrow, which is what I instinctively go for most of the time. Still, I get knockdown and oki oFf of a back airthrow, so that’s not bad. But yeah I agree, I can definitely use work there. I know how to follow up afterwards, just need practice with it.
Tron can’t lvl3 grab while opponent’s in blockstun, and jump startup is throw invulnerable right? Kera doesn’t lvl3 throw after drill because he’s gotten blown up by jump punishes, it’s not free.
I know you can combo after hard drive by following up with 2B, however that is somewhat height/spacing dependent. I’ve lost matches due to whiffed 2B, but you can fly cancel to save yourself on whiff. And yeah my sentinel is terrible, I never practice with him.
Thanks for the feedback
I’ll try to explain myself better.
In one of your videos you punished the drill with Zero, usually this is good because it’s heavily unsafe, but Tron can cancel the recovery frames of the drill with her level 3 hyper grab and if you didn’t push block or jump you will get caught.
Well, if you punished the drill than means that you didn’t jump and therefore you could have been grabbed.
To be more precise Tron will cancel the recovery frame of the drill after you came out of the block stun.
It’s a big risk trying to punish on the ground a blocked drill if she has got enough meter for a level 3.
If you try in the training room you will find that it’s impossible to punish the drill without being grabbed if you don’t jump and if your opponent cancel the drill at the right time into the grab.
Anyway I like your Zero play-style.
Yeah, I know about that. The problem is tron is taking a large risk there too, if it whiffs she either gets combod or xfactors to save herself. Whoever guesses wrong loses a character. Also I’ve played at least 3000-4000 matches against him since we really have only about 3-4 players, and I knew he wasn’t going to lvl3. In a tournament setting I would have played safer. Against any other tron I would have jumped and punished.
oh, if you knew well you opponent you did the right thing
I wasn’t expecting such a decent level of play out of people with such… anime… ish… names, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I liked how you were comboing off the sent drones, and I also like that you actually did a couple of lightning loops in there, very nice. Only advice I can give is maybe consider someone other than Doom since he seemed to be your weak link, definitely seemed to be struggling under pressure when Doom was on point.
Haha those are troll names. Well kera decides to enter majors with his, so he’ll probably stick with it. I run with Dooku, From Star Wars, except I’m not really a fan of either trilogy and just like the name, so I blatantly took it.
And yeah, lightning dive loops are baller. I’m working on those still, can’t hit them very consistently.
But yeah, I know my Doom is bad. I’m dropping him, his playstyle doesn’t work for me at all. I was going to drop this game after UFGT, so I only bothered putting a ton of time into Zero. But the tournament actually made me like this game, so I’m gonna put more time into characters other than Zero. I actually want a 1v1 game where I can play Zero since I don’t care about most of the cast, but yeah.
TvC is pretty much a 1v1 game with an assist. It’s pretty rare for anyone to make a 1v2 comeback in that game so it mostly comes down to the point character matchups, with the exception being DHC’s changing the point character (you can DHC back to your first character in that game too though). Also the game is awesome.
/end shameless promotion
Yeah, I’ve thought about that. I played the original zero-less TvC some and then I sold my wii. Also Zero’s lvl 3 is so much better in TvC than this. What were they thinking (yeah I know, catching assists and everything is cool, but still).
I mean style wise. I know it’s probably terrible. But it looks awesome.
Dark Hold is actually really really bad except as a reversal/counter. It gets scaled so badly that meterless BnB’s do as much damage as BnB’s into Dark Hold. For combos it’s better to find a DHC where you can do Rekkoha > DHC > DHC back to Rekkoha (like Casshern).
But this thread isn’t about TvC so to keep it MvC3 um…
I got nothing. I’ll watch the match videos that were just posted soon and use this space for my comments on them ^^
There was a small tournament on Saturday that the host wanted me to record. So this is pretty much some of the first footage I’ve been able to get of my Zero and any comments to give me ideas to help improve him as well is appreciated!
First thing I would say is to switch Sent and Dorm around. I used to be a strong believer in Sentinel Second, but after the health nerf I can’t do it anymore. If you lose Zero then Sent comes out, sometimes with some less life since he’s the assist you want to abuse, and he usually will come out in the corner into a bad matchup. It’s just not a good look IMO. Plus Zero and Dorm got some good DHC options. Rekkoha into Stalking Flare should give Dormammu enough time to get some dark spells on his hands. I say Sentinel Third.
Your Zero combos are a little unoptimized. I don’t think you once went for an air lighting dive combo. You can add the assist combo stuff last. Other than that though your Zero is solid.
Well, here’s that team combo video I’ve been promising:
I’m not really sure if I’m satisfied with how it turned out, but I guess I’ll see what you guys think.
I’m horrible at MvC3, but I think I found something pretty interesting:

The rest of the video should be pretty self explanatory. Here’s the video’s description on YouTube:
I used this trick for a little while for experimenting purposes. It works as a great alternative to ending with a super, and it doesn’t make you guess a roll forward or roll back which is nice. The only problem is your opponent will know exactly when he has the chance to do a reversal, be it an invincible special move, a counter super, or even a raw tag, or even worse, Tron or Haggar assist. Against some teams I’m sure it can work wonders, but like most things in this game it’s not foolproof
