I’m gona add something once again I know nothing about 3s i watch alot of vids but i suck at it :] I think the the way dirty picked the team wasn’t a horrible idea but probably not the best 
now before you flame me i believe this should be about geting the very best players for the team. Not just a rep from each coast. From what I’ve seen and heard ricky is considerd one of the best i definitly believe he deservs a spot as a captin, Just cause he didnt qual for evo and you guys already have one empire member as captin shouldnt ex him out :(.
I mean he places high in every US tournament he’s been in with the exception of evo last year? o_O and him and justin qualified for sbo in japan none the less. So he’s been one of the most stable players. And there’s alot of hate on wattson I’ve heard people say he prob shouldn’t be a captin on the team cause there’s better choices yet everytime i see him at a tournament he’s ripping everyone who says he shouldn’t be on the team up

yeah ruin is right about ricky, but what about hsien too? if anything hsien has proved every year that his ken can get it done. ricky, justin, hsien have proved themselves over and over, this is about the best team for america, all of srk wants team america to do well, let’s not worry about the political empire game bullshit or whatever, just put that shit behind and let’s do whats best for america and not for srk staff. if anything, srk represents the people in this community and we want the best people to represent america. if the majority of them happen to be on the westcoast so be it.

Problem is, if we let srk pick everyone just goes crazy on who they pick. I think my idea was good, maybe not the best but we are still going to get a pretty decent team for the 5on5. Its not like ricky is out for the count the top 16 is filled with players that are way above average and whichever 2 people climb out of that showdown will be good enough to represent US for 3s. Hsien,Justin and Watson have all done pretty damn well vs japan and they all have proven themselvs in the past, so i dont see the problem.
I am all for making it Double elim / single game as well. It seems like everyone else is on key for this. I believe it will take the same amount of time as a 2/3 - single elim cause games will go fast.

how is letting SRK pick everyone a crazy idea when its not even necessary? this is not an either/or scenario (either SRK head honchos pick practically the whole team or let 100,000 people select it).
Here is the problem: there should be a balance between rewarding those players from the past and allowing spots to be open for other good players to be on the team. which way, if any, should we lean towards? i think it should be allowing more spots for good players (i.e. 4 or 5 spots open). why? because:
(1) every player has a powerful argument to be in the team…how do you differentiate?
(2) the best team will be the team thats best this day in age. watson already said in this thread (unless he’s already deleted it) that he doesnt practice very much these days. let the best players play on the team. letting everyone or most everyone play for a spot allows for the best possible team and shows that everyone is capable of earning their spot.
(3) it gives more people a shot and removes a lot of the politics. it gives people more of an opportunity, which should be embraced by our community. our community isnt one where you cant approach and play the best players. if you want, you can play justin, you can have a shot to prove yourself to be the best. let others prove themselves. let all these awesome players: paulee, ricky, yoon, 5star, victoly, etc. etc. have a fair shot. lets not forget this great aspectic of the fighting game scene.
so where does rewarding those with past performances come in (bear in mind, ricky and others have had marvelous performances)? you let them have a guarantee in the 16 man tournament and give them the honor of selecting others into the tournament. let SRK decide the other 4 players collectively.
why is this so hard? dont you want the team to be the best team possible? dont you want it to be fair and unpoliticized?
