haggar is pretty free… just chill in the air and make sure you dont get thrown or pipped or w/e. really, just block and zone him. sougenmu works wonders
Zone the crap outta Haggar with Sougenmu. Works wonders for me, don’t try to rush him, it’ll give him an opening.
I might go into details on this later on, but I’m at work right now. This is how I feel about Zero’s matchups currently:
8/2: Haggar, Hsien-Ko, Phoenix Wright
7/3: Arthur, Chris, Chun-Li, Hulk, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Sentinel, She-Hulk, Shuma, Tron
6/4: Akuma, C. Viper, Captain America, Dante, Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange, Dormammu, Felicia, Frank, Ghost Rider, MODOK, Morrigan, Nemesis, Nova, Ryu, Spider-Man, Storm, Strider, Super Skrull, Thor, VJoe, Wesker, Wolverine, X-23
5/5: Amaterasu, Deadpool, Firebrand, Jill, Magneto, Phoenix, Taskmaster, Spencer (will be 6/4 after throw-tech patch), Trish, Vergil
4/6: Hawkeye
??: Rocket Raccoon
Certain assists can change these numbers significantly.
I can agree with most of those, but i’d like to know your reasoning on Akuma. Frankly, he’s someone you can’t really lame out with the buster or rush down due to his higher priority.
By the way, anyone know of good assists against hawkeye? I’ll be picking up the game in another week and would like to know what assists trump hawkeye.
I think Akuma and Zero are sort of similar in some ways actually, but as far as the neutral game is concerned I think Zero gets the edge because his movement is a little less restricted and his normals are just overall better. Akuma also doesn’t have some of the unbelievable BS that Zero gets like meter positive TOD’s from air-throws with no DHC or XF.
I dunno about Trish being 5-5 with Zero think she has a slight edge, and VJoe is defo about even all things considered (Rather than genuine 1 v 1 fights)
yea trish certainly has an advantage… i’ve had trouble with her since day 1.
I like your list a lot…
agree with the vast majority…
but I feel
Nova is a 5/5, he can compete with your normals if you’re not point blank close, and his airdash and overall movement is so fast that he can evade your busters, also, one Grab anywhere on the screen and Zero is history with virtually any DHC, from my experience, if you can keep him pinned, you win, if he moves freely, then you lose, and keep him pinned is HARD.
Haggar is a 7/3, There’s nothing he can do against dedicated Zoning other than superjump and pipe… but you’ll not be able to really compete up close in the air, if you try, chances are you’re being hit by pipe and from there, you’re dead.
Iron Fist is a 8/2, Like Haggar, except he simply cannot beat you in the air… EVER, and does not have lariat to make you afraid of rushing him down.
Hulk a 6/4, Gamma Charge with armor is plain stupid, Zero cannot get away from him at the start of the match, and if you get airgrabbed in the start, then Zero’s dead.
I’d also say that Dante is actually harder than Vergil but dunno how to develop on this.
Rocket Raccoon is a 6/4 IMO. I play a guy who’s getting really nasty with him, but Zero still get the upper edge.
you know, in the hulk forums, they think Zero is one of Hulk’s worst matchups.
There’s no chance Nova’s 5/5 with Zero all he has is a puncher’s chance of landing a jab into combo or grab into death. His only form of mobility is COMPLETELY shut down by Buster. The only way he’s evading it is if you’re chucking busters out from sj height which is a bit daft tbh against Nova. And I’ve played a lot of good Novas, it’s just no way an even match at all. There’s only so much he can do to try and attempt to zone Zero with shield + javelin or rushdown with beam assist/ shopping cart + air dash OS H.
Match is definitively in favor of Zero… (6/4 in Zero’s favor, not Hulk, imo)
but there’s no way you can be far from him when the match starts as if he just jumps forward before the fight begins, he WILL be in your face when it starts, in that moment, he’ll have a chance to hit you… if he airgrabs or hits you with a s.H (maybe because you’re waiting for airgrab and jumped hitting H at the start or something) Zero could die just like that… Probably the most safe option for Zero is just stay on the ground blocking and eat a ground throw if he tries that and then fight from there.
once you get away from that first moment, then you can zone him out and win… Still, he causes some trouble if he has, let’s say, Sentinel assist.
Hulk alone and far from Zero is free… Hulk with an assist (even if you have one too) can be a problem, and as both characters tend to be on point, this scenario is happening quite frequently.
Zero’s worst match up right now to me seems to be Trish, even IF you rushdown.
Her traps are what kills Zero and any good Trish is going to set up a bunch of traps to keep you the hell out. Her zoning tools are also better than Zero’s, stupidly so.
Fighting against a good trish as Zero is bull, she can basically just lame you out the whole time, of course it was much worse in vanilla due to the multiple specials in the air thing. Only matchup he probably has worse is Hawkeye.
that’s why this is a team game, you can just tag zero out and bring a char that kills trish (a teleporter for example)
Yup, but wesker doesn’t really have any tools to take her down with. Dante or Vergil, now that might work.
Did a lot of lab time today, and I think Zero does have a few bad matchups. I am not talking to go even with Zero, but actually have an advantage over him. I consider Vergil, Taskmaster, and Hawkeye to have 6-4 against Zero. I’ll post later why, I am tired ;/
Hawkeye seems to be Zero’s only bad matchup IMO. Trish can be dealt with by shooting up
Vergil?
I’m curious to hear reasoning on this.
if he has an assist that keeps you pinned to the ground, then sure. But by himself, if you run away and spam lightning and buster to control the screen there’s little he can do to change this situation.
He’s certainly not free, but I don’t think he has the advantage, I’m more inclined to believe it’s a 5/5 match, In fact, I tend to have more problems against Dante.
Dunno, it feels like if you can force a whiff from Vergil you can just kill him right there
