or maybe you have the rhythm wrong altogether, just saying…
i think the RSF learning process is a hella easier if there was some program that records button input and lights up whenever the button is depressed. record someone doing the RSF, and loop the sequence of blinking lights, for jab, fierce and the QCF motion. throw in the squeaky boots, and fuerte RSFing, and I think watching this or listening to the sound for a good hour would have people on the right track with keeping the correct rhythm which would drastically improve the RSF practice for everyone.
In other words a Light-up show, but VERY accurately composed. Rhythm is fairly easy to pick up with sound, and with visuals to follow along that are simple and basic would be pretty useful. What if someone had made a chart on Guitar Hero that was composed of 2 different buttons, and composed to match the rhythm of the RSF?
Talking of lag, recently I had to go back home for the holidays, I usually play on my LCD TV, nothing spectacular but I can easily hit up to 5-6 RSF loops about 75% of the time, I play online on this TV, and have good success performing RSF ( 4 bars and up). When I went back home and played on my family’s huge HD TV and my RSF’ing was way way off (I had my console set to HD settings).
I also got the opportunity to play SFIV offline which again was on large LCD screens and my RSF never got more than 2 hits. now Ive come back to my place and I can do it no problems.
After watching alot of TKD vids since I started playing Fuerte, and watching he do the st.lk loop, I’ve finally gottenit down. Since there really aren’t that many vids of him using it, what are some of the situations you guys use it? I’m thinking against characters with crappy reversals
I would use it like a regular jab string, if I could that is haha. Seeing Short and Cr Forward loops instantly puts a big smirk on my face, esp if it’s destroying the opposition.
I favourite that vid, though the cr. mk is hard to see because your fingers all jammed together, but I’m fairly confident I know what you’re doing back there, so it’s okay.
Hi, so I have been training the RSF and on average I can hit 4-5 loops
I noticed if I hit jab~fierce within one frame of each other (like plinking execution) the input shows a jab, then a jab plus fierce (which fierce takes priority), but somehow after a run doing this results in a stop, but no fierce? I was trying to maximise my speed of getting out a st.fierce without wasting any frames, as to get longer loops etc
Also, I use a rhythm in my right hand, after a while of training I develop a tapping rhythm (jab~fierce jab, jab~fierce jab etc)(excluding QCF), I can hit 4-5 loops but my only question is how come I can’t hit 7 or 8? I never lose rhythm or pace at all and somehow after a certain number of loops I end up with a far fierce no matter what I do, is there a limit to the amount of fierces you can do? (either midscreen or in corner)
There’s no limit afaik. You just need to let him run slightly longer before hitting fierce, or else you slowly get pushed away and get the far fierce. Also, you mentioned how plinking doesn’t work. You’re right. It should be done almost like a plink, but slightly slower, so the fierce will register, but no frames are wasted.
Anyone else’s slide seem to go through fuerte? Happened like 3 times in a row after RSF, my slide would teleport me to the other side of him – was weird.
i’m learning the rsf loop by negative edging. i’ve gotten up to 4 fierces this way, but i usually only consistently get 2. if this is for the most part working for me, do any of you recommend scratching the negative edge method and relearning with the extra button tap?
also-- i was playing against ibuki the otehr day and did my shitty 2 fierce loop into slide and my slide passed through her both times. at the time i just assumed it was my Fail execution, but in light of the last couple of posts, i wonder if that scrub had jus been mashing her command slide during my loop.
Add the tap unless you land it with negative edge 100% of the time, and you see yourself landing it under pressure, etc.
you can slide through some other characters, seth for example. It happends to different characters under different circumstances (usually how you started the RSF off) i.e. was it a jump in fierce or round house? was it a cross over? was it just a raw rsf or after a focus crumble?
I just noticed this as I was doing El Fuerte’s Trials level 24.
You can’t seem to do a focus crumple, dash cancel, and then immediately go into RSF on dan. I’m pretty sure this was possible in vanilla.
INSTEAD, now you have to wait for the Dan to drop to his knees, then perform the RSF. The beginning animation of Dan falling has him duck under El Fuerte’s c.FP.
I hope this only applies to Dan, instead of Focus -> immediate RSF becoming character specific.
It was the same in regular SF4 for Dan. Dhalsim is the same way. I don’t think any of the new characters crumple all strange like that but I am not sure.
Hi all. Been away for a while because RSF has screwed my hand up.
Basically, the doctor said vigorous and repetitive movements in my game playing has inflammed the sheath of the tendon connected to my thumb. I’ll get better, but this means I’ll no longer be able to practise RSF in case it happens again. Shame. I finally got up to 5 hits too.
Hopefully no one else will have this problem. Take care to rest if your hands start hurting during practice.
Shit, man…that’s hardcore. I’ve heard of Guitar Hero screwing up pro sports players’ hands, but I never thought practicing RSF could be BAD for your game in the long run…
All Fuertes are created equal and should have equal RSF opportunities, it’s not right that happened to you
If I may ask, how was your hand set up on the buttons that lead to your injury?
It does look like it scales much much higher than in SF4.
Looking back at skisonics’ original post on RSF stun damage values, lvl 3 focus + 7 fierces would’ve done 900 stun damage.
P.S. Looks like practicing RSF can cause you to be very injury prone. I have a SE stick and a wide shoulder. It makes my hands feel cramped, and often times my right wrist does hurt after a long training session.
I do these exercises to prevent wrist injuries. I hope you’d give it a try, if your wrist hurts after practicing RSF. Carpal Tunnel Exercise
@El_Twelve: Hope you’re feeling better buddy, as soon as you start noticing any sort of fatigue you should rest your hands and not force it. Hopefully you will heal completely in no time and be able to practice.
And trust me, it seems that once you take a break from RSF for a while and come back to it later, you actually improve in a way. I had that happen to me, left SF4 for a couple of weeks and then the next time I hit practice mode I got a notable improvement (relatively speaking as I still suck compared to many lol). I know a few others who had the same experience as well, so don’t feel bad about not being able to practice it for a while and rest well
