UPDATE: 300 Yen Free Play Street Fighter IV in Shibuya

GGs tonight. Hopefully, I’ll see you guys again on the 20th.

Thanks dude.

I’m going away this weekend. But after that I’m basically free everyday after 3 PM, unless I have some prior planned event.

Oh, hey Torp- I’m gonna PM you my SF card number to see if you can get it registered. If so, I’d like the nickname to be SmokeMaxX if possible. Thx.

Sounds good man. We should be having a meetup at one of our places soon. If not that, then this place (Shinjuku Sportsland in Shibuya) has it on Thursdays.

GG to everyone that went yesterday. And hooray for my team winning the tournament: Neurosis (Dic), Alisu (Boxer), Me (Fuerte). And thanks to the boss man for buying us drinks. He’s really nice.

Yeah let’s get together soon. Name a time and place.

hold up im makin a map for ya

Lol sorry, we were there earlier tonight until 11:30 PM.

Okay so I don’t know where you’re coming from, but we:

  1. take the JR Yamanote line into Shibuya.
  2. Take the Hachiko exit
  3. Once you get out of the Hachiko exit, if you look towards the street, you’ll see the big intersection where a lot of people are crossing or waiting to cross. If you look UP, you’ll see the building across from the exit has a Starbucks on the second floor.
  4. Cross the intersection going towards the Starbucks.
  5. Walk past the building with the Starbucks so that the Starbucks will be on your right.
  6. Keep walking until you see it. It’s about 2-3 blocks down on the right. It’s at the same intersection (diagonally across) from First Kitchen. You’ll see a GAME place (with some kind of arcade) on the left a little bit before you get to Shinjuku Sportsland. If you hit Condomania, you went too far.

so yeah heres a map

thanks. post up next time you guys are going. do they have super there everyday?

We’ll be there on Thursday for free play. Super’s only there on Thursday. Some of us foreigners have Super on console and we’re thinking about hosting a meetup or something.

Sad day…

I never could have imagined anything like this would happen, since Shibuya Sportsland was, by far, my favorite arcade in all of Japan.

I just got this message from the owner of the arcade:
???
??? SBO???
???

Shibuya Sportsland will close before SBO.

While this may not mean a lot to many people, this place was like my home while I was in Japan. I’ve never been to an arcade more dedicated to fighting games. People said even arcades in Japan were dying, but I didn’t believe them. And now I’ll never get to play in this arcade again…:shake:

I want to thank everyone that made Shibuya Sportsland so great for me: Hafiz, Johnny, Ryan, Conor, Earl, Steve, Kim, Chris, Ranix, Jason, and anyone else who I might have forgotten that met me there. But especially all the Japanese players like Chome Tarou, Super Ojiichan, Ma (my rival lol), Kikanbo Max, TKD and Ponyo.

Maybe something magical will happen and they won’t end up closing, but I never got any follow-up replies from Tenchou, so I doubt it.

Any chance you guys get, go in there and play. If not for yourselves, since you have limited time to do so, please do it for me. I love that place, and I’m still shocked that it will be gone by the next time I return to Japan.

This is devastating, and I’m sorry to have to be the guy to say this. :shake:

Marty, a.k.a ??

Damn.

I need to go there this thursday then, havent been there for months now… and its gonna get closed? :frowning:

WTF? Damn it I need someone who speaks Japanese to talk to the owner. He’s a great guy, I can’t believe this is happening. Damn economy. I can’t believe it’s closing! He gets a lot of business on Sundays and Thursdays, but I guess he has to cut into his profit to do that.

hopefully since he’s going to move to shinjuku sportsland (main branch in shinjuku), that he’ll still do freeplay nights, kinda easier for me too hahah

yeah thats whack… i finally made it there last night and had a good time. played with some pretty cool cvs2 players.

anywho whats up with the super session??? i wont be around for thurs. cuz i leave at like 4pm that day
