Right now I’ve really only been playing Gouki, Viper and Boxer. Unless I get really stupid, I can beat most people with Boxer, but he’s not very fun, IMO. I’m really trying to get better with Viper because she’s just so fun to play. (Unless I’m playing someone else…I still feel a little lost when the momentum starts to go in the other person’s favor.) I like Gouki, but I’m still a little burned out on him, and have subsequently become a lot worse with him.
And yeah, you landed focus, 2 fierce slide once or twice. Those Viper - Fuerte fights we had taught me a lot about playing Viper, though. If she gets knocked down, she’s pretty helpless, especially against a character like Fuerte.
If you like Viper then by all means play her. On wakeup vs Fuerte you can backdash, you can Focus and dash (if it’s a Tostada), or block and pray. With Viper, don’t do her uppercut because that thing SUCKS OUT LOUD.
That’s the way out of Fuerte’s tostada press hell (aka “Takin em to Splash Mountain” as one Fuerte thread guy says lol) but then you have to deal with the possibility that I can Slide and trip if you backdash or Fajita/Tortilla if you focus.
I play Fuerte because everybody else in this game is boring as shit to me. I don’t want to jab all damn day and sit in crouch block. It’s FUCKIN BORING AS HELL TO ME. I want to bring the beating to your ass in 20 seconds or less… that’s how my HDR Honda plays lol.

I guess I’m getting better too. I was overall about 50/50 tonight, with highlights including beating an A ranked sim and an A ranked ryu who had just shy of 7000 matches on his card. I’m also 4 matches shy of 1000 on my card. I also near-perfected the whole “kara-linking” technique. I can now dash forward > c.lp > c.lp > c.mp~lp xx flashkick with almost 80% consistency! I can’t believe that i finally feel comfortable doing that damn combo!

I drank like half a bottle of vodka last night and was pretty trashed. No particular reason, I just listened to the audiobook of Malcolm Gladwell’s “Outliers” and I thought it was boring as shit… takes forever to get to the point and gives way too many examples.
Wow Fuerte is so awful. I don’t like any characters in SFIV besides him but oh my god since I stepped up to GS-2 I can’t win. I switched to Barlog and I don’t even know his moves, and I immediately cream this Rufus player though. Street Fighter Snore lol.

I am definitely not #20 online. What I meant is my CP ranking was at #20 not my GP though. There is not enough time in the day for that though. I play like 2 hours a day.
