the irony is, i bought the DSi so the train ride to tokyo wont be as tormenting (an hour+ FTL) but now i cant go haha.

Honestly for the last few weeks I’ve been forcing myself to sit and play it, try to enjoy it but it just is nothing but boredom and frustration, the shitty match connection system, droppers, “easy inputs” (aka do an ultra, get an EX move) and input lag only make it worse. I try to connect for a match like 20 times and never get a connection. When I finally do get a game the only tactic my opponent can think of is crouch block and do as little as possible, except in 4 it’s an awesome tactic. I like hanging out with you guys enough to have kept going but the game is no fun for me.
I realize I’m not very good at SFIV, but I also think that I don’t want to get good at this game. It’s not a matter of losing, its the style of the game that is irritating. If a game isn’t any fun then why would I want to get good at it? Where’s the motivation? It’s a scrub concept wanting to play “for fun” I know but that’s why we play games to begin with.
Spending 45 minutes on a train to go play a game I don’t even like just doesn’t feel that interesting to me tonight. Maybe I’m in a bad mood, overworked or something, I don’t really know, I could just be burnt out on Street Fighter. HD Remix is too easy to be honest, so I don’t play that much anymore either.
I can relate. As I’ve been going along, trying to get better it has become less and less “fun”. I try to not concentrate on those negative aspects like losing as a personal thing and think of it like an opportunity really.
You probably just need a break.
Well the main thing is with 4 I have a hard time seeing what I do to lose. in ST it’s pretty clear why you lost, but in 4 to wipe out 50% takes nothing less than some randomness. The game seems a bit random, especially with characters like Gief who can wipe out 60% with a lucky ultra.
If netcode improves with the supposed update Friday I will probably be fine. It drives me nuts how hard it is to get a game, let alone a game against a quality opponent, without getting dropped on, having severe input lag, or facing a thousand Ryus and Kens in a row.
I’ve been kind of overworking myself with the Google PageRank Update that is going on right now, trying to drive up my sites PR ranking, get backlinks et cetera so… maybe I just need a quick break.
Well I wanted to go tonight. Infact I had every intention of going tonight, but of course as usual, Thursday nights own me. Had to spend time with my girl.
Oh well so much for that. I’m gonna have my akuma ready for next week. I might also try to head up to Nakano on Monday.
And yeah i agree, SF4 is some bullshit.

Tonight was weird.
I lost most of the time but I beat a beasting Sagat AND Ponyo’s Gouki. (I was no carding and I’ll probably never do it again, so alas, no proof.)

Sorry to hear that grits. Honestly, I’m surprised you are still even playing on console at all. I gave up playing online completely about a week and a half ago. For me, i refuse to do anything other arcade or 1 on 1 local console. I also do agree with you to some extent. I feel like some characters it’s not even worth it to try and press the advantage. Random shoryu > ultra… or hell… random shoryu > FADC > another random-ass shoryu > FADC > ultra is trash.
