UPDATE: 300 Yen Free Play Street Fighter IV in Shibuya

ggs to all;

turns out I was able to get a new card - a cell isnt needed to register the new card, you just buy one and change it out for the old when it prompts you.

shows how much I know lol

well you still need a cell to edit stuff but i guess you dont plan on doing that lol

my ps3 is still in the box wtf

Ok, so, since I only got a little info, what’s the deal with this whole intermediate tounrey thing you guys were talking about?

Oh, heres some advice I’d give you guys. Don’t forget, if you see holes in my stuff too I’d love to hear it.

Hfz: Try to use EX wheel kick more. Guile cant really punish it unless you do it point blank and it is a safe way to go through boom. Otherwise, fighting you got progressively more scary as the night went on. You stopped doing unsafe/random rolls and your tick throws are really solid, it’s hard to stay on my toes. Try more s.lk.

Johnny: Good matches dude! My claw can’t make a dent in your boxer. Try to mix up your tick throws a bit more though. It seemed like you only would ever go for after a single c.lp. Also, you trained me to block c.lp x 3 > sweep so you should of capitalized off of that with a walk forward throw. Empty jump throw probs would have caught me too.

Grits: Needs more propellor tortilla. That move always messes me up, I swear. I don’t know fuerte much though… it seems like a relatively easy matchup for me if i just jump around and spam air throws and j.fp. shrug I have yet to play a godly fuerte.

Beikoku: I would tell you to punish my mid-range focus attack attempts, but I have no idea how you would do that outside of c.mk xx hado or just an EX hado. Maybe when you see me focus in range of your f.mk you should jump in? I’m not too sure, but then that would force me to back dash and block for fear of eating j.hk (absorb) > EX shoryu. I wouldn’t have a charge then obviously and I wouldn’t have enough time to stick out a c.hp in time. I don’t know though. =\

Oh, and I’m on xbl every once and awhile. Just search slinkun.

I was happy right off the bat. Beat Super Ojiichan`s Viper with Boxer.

Viper tough as shit, though. I`m gonna need more practice. It was fun, though. Good games, guys.

I was the clueless Akuma player. I can hardly ever make it on Thursdays. Do people ever hit up the Tuesday freeplay at TRF?

Well the thing is I’ve never had my run moves air thrown before. Most Guiles I play online will get knocked down and I can run splash them all day cause he either blocks or eats it on wakeup. (Flash kick even EX gets stuffed) I think once Fuerte gets the knockdown Guile has some issues.

Big eye opener, I’ve got to open up my ground game more and use the EX run. I decided I’m not going to try to build and hold super meter as I can now do 4 run fierces for the loop (still got to get the slide a little better) I think EX run having double hyper armor will let me get close. I’ve got some more gimmicks from watching Ero Fuerte today so hopefully I can get that going.

I have a much easier time against Shotos, Balrog etc than your Guile because every time I got in the air I get grabbed.

I just started playing Fuerte again 2 days ago, so things can only get better. During late feb-early march I was playing him in casual but I decided to finally give in to the power of low tier gimmicks.

There are 4 really good Fuertes at Shibuya Sports, maybe play them? I think there will be 5 soon enough… we’ll see. =)

Right now, im going to TRF on wednesday for the beginners tourney(participated three times now). Thursday at shibuya freeplay.

Anyway nakano has sf4/tatsunoko/chaosbreaker freeplay mon-tue 12-4pm for 200yen.

Cool, thanks. I’m trying to find all the cheap ways to play SF4 because this game just eats my money. So far I’ve got:

Shibuya Sports Land
50 yen
Thurs free play

Shibuya Kaikan
50 yen

Ikebukuro Safari
50 yen

Nakano TRF
50 yen
Mon/Tues free play

Pasopiard Tokyo
2 for 100 yen

Does anyone know any others?

Ill be going to Game Safari Ikebukuro tomorrow.

Anybody want to take 4 fierces to the face?

nakano trf, thursday 50yen = 2 credit.

grits: id love to go to game safari tomorrow but i have a tourney. maybe some other time

I’m feeling kinda lazy today anyway.

Johnny you gonna be on line?

In other news, i beat beikoku in roseball hahaha.

I have a ps3 but i didnt set up my psn yet.

I think you are talking about the Nakano TRF weekly tournaments I was mentioning to Goblin? I’ve consolidated it a bit and written it up after going for a few weeks. Here is some info for the events that I’ve been to. This isn’t just for Slinkun but for anyone who still hasn’t been to TRF. Maybe I should create a thread?

Directions
[]From JR Shinjuku Station, take the Chuo Rapid line to Nakano. I think it’s the red color line.
[
]When you arrive at Nakano, exit at the west exit and turn right.
[]Find the giant indoor shopping arcade in front of you across the street of called Sun Mall (???)
[
]Walk all the way down the shopping arcade(you will pass a McD on the left) until you enter a ghetto department store/shopping complex directly in front of you.
[]Ride the escalator up
[
]Find the stairs and go up one floor

Walk around until you find TRF or find a map
Help

There’s one Japanese guy who definitely isn’t shy and speaks English. So there may be some help available for non speakers. He will most likely make himself known to you.
Signup sheet
[]The signup sheet is in Japanese but it’s simple:
[
]first column put your card name
[]second column your character
[
]third column mark that you have deposited the 100 yen once you have put the 100 yen in the coin can next to the signup sheet.

I think it’s to OK write in English on the signup sheet.
Tournament Procedure
Once you have signed up and they take away the sheet to make the brackets, this is usually how the tourney works:
[]The brackets are created and randomized by bracket software.
[
]They bring the brackets back and post it.
[]The announcer/mc starts the event and starts talking on a very shitty microphone.
[
]If the bracket is an uneven number they do the play ins first, to see who makes it on the bracket. So, for each bracket they go around and do all the play ins.
[]Once the playins have been decided, they have a exhibition match to determine the order of playing down the brackets(left or right). Last time, I think the MC/announcer guy played in the exhibition.
[
]Matches are played one at a time and only one SF4 machine is used.
[]They do the first tournament round on each side, then second tournament round each side, etc. in the order determined by the exhibition match.
[
]The matches start and the announcer will call your name. Be careful here, because it’s easy to miss or not be able to hear your name cause it’s a really shitty microphone and there is a lot of background noise(and it’s in Japanese). That’s why I stand near him.
Awesome
The thing that makes TRF so awesome is they that record just about everything with DVRs on top of the machines. They also stream live on stickam and post tourney videos on nico douga. This is all for 100 yen a tourney entry.

Stickam SF4 Live @ TRF Nakano

Match videos @ nicovideo.jp

There are also some other events and freeplays as well so you can check out TRF’s event page:

Nakano TRF Thread

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=185316

I posted a new thread in this same forum(World discussion & matchmaking) for Nakano TRF specifically to clean things up a bit in this thread. It includes the post above…

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=185316

So let’s move Nakano stuff there?

good trf info. do they still have only two regular SF4 cabs?

yeah they still have just 2 CRT setups. Another good thing about TRF is half of the arcade is non-smoking so it seems like a good place to go play for non-smokers.

I’m not a smoker and after playing a couple hours the smoke in arcades makes me feel pretty shitty.

So I had some more free time today and went to Pasiopard again, trying to get better with Viper. 35,000 BP Honda player was there, and got two perfects on me, though. Obviously, some work needs to be done. lol

Holy shit, landing EX Seismo xx HJC >> Flame kick >> Ultra is damn near orgasmic. The more I play her, the more I like her more than Gouki.

We start school tomorrow, and I’m sort of looking forward to it, but it means I’ll have to leave even earlier on Thursdays from now on.

we’re still gonna go for trf, right?

edited: you can come to my place and play viper all you want hahaha. i have 2 hrap3 atm, one’s connor’s though. but im quite from from tokyo, and i think maybe around the same from yokohama. (around 45-55mins from yokohama station)

We’ll have to see about that. Nakano is a bit further than Shibuya, and it’s more expensive. Since I’m doing an intensive Japanese course, I’ll likely have a ton of stuff to do everyday, so I don’t think I’ll get to practice or play as much in the arcades, anymore.

Just study after we beat you. =)

Should be enough time.
