Being able to moderate (Delete / Warn / Ban) in IE10 would be excellent. Firefox really hates the ComplexMedia stuff on my system.
3S Subforum has disappeared entirely from the forum index.
It looks like they removed the links to the “stub” forums and deleted them (note that my first link is now dead). Whether or not links to the real forums will appear is TBD. Presumably so and we’re just seeing the normal “forum cacheing” issue right now.
So hopefully this is an excellent step forward.
The spam and moderation queues should have some reference to the threads in which they were flagged. This is in part because people who double/triple post sometimes end up getting flagged. If it was trivial to click back to where they were it would be easier to clean up any messes. And/or put out any other sorts of fires.
So what’s happening with the text formatting options? I’m finding it harder and harder to make my posts look good and easy to write. There’s no bullet points, I can’t expand the textfield while writing (except this incredibly awkward pull down that fails the second I hit Enter), still no damn image notations, etc…etc…
I understand why you guys needed to make the switch and it does run much quicker, but beyond that, it has been a disaster. I don’t think I would be so annoyed, but people are picking apart the color theme and avatars more than the usability. Really I would like to see this emulate the options we had in Xenforo as much as possible. Except for the load issues, Xenforo was stupidly better than this. I feel like I’m reduced to basic text and that’s it. I can’t write any decent articles, organize long posts, or edit my combo threads…
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE reevaluate your priorities on updates. Fuck the damn avatars, fix the writing options.

Pay for a separate server to host the forums then. Unless off course you’re happy with all the slowdown that hosting it on the same server as the front page produces.
Now, I don’t know the prices, but WHY pay for a vanilla-only server, that leaded to this mess, instead of just renting a server where you can apply any forum software? How much is the difference? I mean if there was too much traffic, then the switch to vanilla and this layout took care of that problem alone. No need to switch servers

I assume that the total monthly cost of renting + installing Xen was higher than simply going through Vanilla. Also, with the current setup, Vanilla’s own guys have access to teh back end of the site. In other words, the actual running of the site is being done by Vanilla and not Wiz/Inkblot.
Are there any plans to re-implement (or I’m just doing a crummy job) finding Premium Membership.

With all of the one off stuff like premium or Tapalk it becomes a matter of whether or not Vanilla supports it. I’m not sure if the addon stuff like this or iTrader will be making a return. I would wager probably not.
Yeah, but it can’t be that much of a difference in cost, right? I mean, the amount must be tremendous, otherwise I can’t understand going through this mess. Less traffic = less revenue. No premium = less money as well. So in the end, they might got less out of it than just sticking with xen on a new server. Of course, just an assumption, I don’t know the prices nor the numbers for views and subscriptions.
Vanilla’s own guys having access doesn’t mean jack it seems, as we saw clearly the past month, when even a trivial matter such as avatars can’t be fixed… or preview button/BBcode bar when editing… or… =/

You underestimate how much the front page makes. Offloading the forums means that the front page also loads faster, which does affect affect the numbers positively
It means less reliance on Wiz and Inkblot to work on the code. It means people who’re actually paid to work on this and actually do know the code inside and out are working on it. Trust me, I work in IT, and having this kind of support alone in comparison to having to do stuff on your own is a big part in affecting decisions to buy stuff. Also, taking this long to get stuff fixed is pretty standard for the industry as well.
The only thing I don’t agree with is the lack of updates. ITSM best practices usually mean giving an ETA on updates, any updates, even if the update simply says “were working on it,” if just to stop people from spamming “is it fixed yet.”
