Uh, huh. Two things.

One, if they were open to switching back that far don’t you think it would’ve happened by now?

And two, changing the site location will not bring the same people back no matter how much you wish it.

General consensus around the net seems to be that the latest builds of vB sucked compared to the comparable build of XenForo - which, ironically enough was built by the guys who used to work on vB before it went meh. There’s a reason why most major FG forums (8WR, VFDC, FSD, SH) are on Xen. The main reason for the move to Vanilla for SRK is, I believe, due to the fact that SRK can’t afford to buy a separate server for the forums and hosting both the front page and the forums is what was causing the slowdown.

As for the look, I believe one of the Vanilla admins is looking to give @Kyle (who made the custom skins for the forums via Stylish) access to test these custom skins for the new forum. If all goes well, then this means the return of good old blue steel.

Here’s an update: Things are gonna get wrapped up today and pushed to staging and final QA today. After that, it shouldn’t be long before we can deploy 1.3.0 to the live site. Stay tuned!

Falling off the planet, I’m sure us Tech Talk folk can fix that with a dremel, some 22awg, a handsaw, a hammer, V8 motor and some rooster sauce.
