Upcoming Site Improvements

So how do people get these bigger av’s?

It was a time before Vanilla.

By the way, I’d love to invite awesome people like <a href="/profile/Kyle">@Kyle</a> to help me implement custom themes accesible through the theme switcher. I see that he already created quite a few and it’d be awesome to have these directly implemented in the core theme. Lemme know!<br />

@KasperIsager

Might as well post here again for good measure. If you can get me some kind of sandbox access to test themes I’ll be happy to help. It sounds like the avatars are a bigger problem if we can’t just hack at the code. I was curious how this was setup. I was hoping we had FTP access where we could poke at actual code. I guess at least this way we’ll always be current.

Moved this over from another thread.

I put together a Solarized Light and Dark theme using Kyle’s vanillablue as a base. Solarized is a popular with developers because it is easy on the eyes during long periods of reading. The palette’s monotones have symmetric CIELAB lightness differences so it retains the same apparent contrast in light and dark modes.

I uploaded a few screenshots in each mode.

Here’s the CSS: Light|Dark

@SPECTERLIGHT @d3v@The Martian” and anyone else wondering about different sized avatars:

If you’ve never touched your avatar since the forum move it is still 96x96. If you’ve done anything since the move to Vanilla it’s been resized to 40x40. They’re still working on fixing things so it won’t be so small when you make changes, but in the meantime they’ve changed the styling so it won’t get stretched out and pixelated.

Kinda figured that out on my own.

That said, I really wish they implement that bit of code I posted. Especially since it comes from their own Chief Product Officer.

@d3v: Didn’t know about this setting, I’ll test it out and add it to the next version of the theme if it works like supposed to!

@RoboKrikit: Those look super cool! I’ll definitely take a closer look at them and implement them in the theme - that’s a promise.

…oh, and good news! There’s definitely a way to hook into the BBCode parser so you guys can get your custom emoticons and stuff back! I’ll need someone to compile a list of these though as well as supply the required gifs. I’ll see if I can get in contact with the SRK masterminds about this.

P.S.: I know I’m pretty uninitiated in all of this SRK stuff, but that’s why I decided to start a dialog with ya’ll so we can make this work

P.P.S.: Stuff’s happening

@Kasperlsager
Thank you. We already miss Wiz’s “but for me it was Tuesday” avatar.

Will there be a Good/Great deals thread returning? There was a recent post which would be great for that thread.

When you guys are adding in the attack icons can you add in some more? Like a b c d and 1 2 3 4 5. That would help a lot.

Are we able to recover our market feedback, or am I going to have to track people down and get them to leave me feedback again?

A: The popup buttons for moderation (such as for thread deletion) don’t work in IE9/10.
B: The spam verification system being applied to an existing forum is kind of problematic in that we have 13 years of users (hundreds of thousands?) that have to be hand-verified. I don’t know if it’s possible to auto-Verify everybody who has been here for >3 months, but that might be helpful. As it stands I see the spam filter mostly catching actual posters and causing them to quadruple post in confusion.
C: As re: attack icons:
:qcf: quarter circle forward
:qcb: quarter circle back
:dp: dragon punch
:rdp: reverse dragon punch
:hcf: half circle forward
:hcb: half circle back
:atk: attack button
:f: forward
:d: down
:u: up
:b: back
:uf: up forward
:ub: up back
:df: down forward
:db: down back
:l: light
:m: medium
:h: heavy
:s: launcher/special attack
:a1: assist button 1
:a1: assist button 2
That’s off the top of my head and mostly just what is used in the UMvC3 forums. If you don’t have icons to use and need those (not sure if those are still around), I see the wiki has a bunch of the icons still, as seen on:

So I NEED some clarification.

Is this “message” mix BB/HTML the final edition? I already edited my combo threads once to make them look appealing again… when I edit now to update something it’s a mess of <br> and other html crap.

Do I have to yet again, rewrite my whole threads or will it be changed again?

Shimapan, when we can?

There was also a punch emote but if i do it it’ll be this one :stuck_out_tongue: even in code.

:k:

Don’t forget the Neo Geo emotes as some Capcom and poverty games didn’t use punch and kicks.

:e:(only on KoFXI I’m not sure if srk had it)

Either you guys are messing around with av settings or the site just bugged out for a second. The last thread i was in, every few users avatars were bigger than the rest and the resolution was good. Everyone else had regular small ones though. I came here to bring it up and then everyones avatars are small again

EDIT: Actually I take it back. jedpossum’s av is doing it

Also, while the Notifications icon in the MeBox area shows me how many notifications I have (abusively so, as it counts posts instead of threads), the currently more practical Bookmarks icon does not show how many updates are present upon those bookmarks. That latter form seems much more useful.

If you’ve noticed. The new message box no longer uses HTML.

Also, I would extremely cautious about touching combo threads for the next couple weeks until someone explicitly says All Clear. It seems like it would be really easy to damage stuff at this point or simply to waste time doing stuff that might not be necessary. :\

If something really NEEDED to be done right now, I would duplicate that thread/post as opposed to editing the old version. :\

Ugh. My trade outlet thread is unreadable and I have no clue how to fix it. It shows up perfectly in “Preview” mode.
