Unpopular TV/comic/anime/music/general media opinions -NO POLITIC TALK

DBZ and Inuyasha are no more trash then Bleach and Naruto, in fact I’d argue that Inyasha is the worst of all the shows you mentioned by a really long margin. The only reason you think Attack on Titan and Bleach and Naruto are dumb is because you’re old enough to be beyond that kind of pandering (Least with Bleach and Naruto, I’ve never seen AOT.) It never fucking fails how one generation moves on to become the previous generation, I had my parents walking through the living room while I was watching DBZ, or Gundam or something and going “Man why are you watching that crap?” But when I went back and watched my parents cartoons that they grew up with, it’s the same fucking drivil, meant to entertain you for half an hour. Speed racer is fucking crap, so is Voltron and Masters of the Universe, but I understood why my father dug that shit, just as he grew to understand why I dug the the shit that I did. Even the stuff I covet from the Toonami days of my youth I can look back on and see is pretty damn dumb, Outlaw Star has cherry popping jokes all over the place, and Onsen episode, and in general the same exact tropes I see people complain about all the time in todays anime, while swooning like morons about how great Anime was from the 90’s or 80’s anime, or Anime on Toonami was. The quality of anime available today to the casual audience (AKA the Toonami audience) is no different then when it was offered to us when we where the Toonami audience, the only difference is we are older and can see how fucking dumb a lot of that shit is.

Despite your intent, the way you come off is as a guy raised on Toonami, but never bothered to actually go back and check out more shows from the decades they claim to love so much, cuz if you did I guarantee you’d find a ton of bullshit, a ton of pandering, and a bunch of shows aimed at a very specific demographic, the one you claim to hate so much. I mean you don’t even have to look far, Dirty Pair is from the 80’s. It’s not particularly good either, it’s just fun, but you willing to tell me at first glance that looks like the greatest shit ever?..Well it does, but not for the reasons we are talking about!

I have actually peeped some Toonamj stuff in recent times such as Gundam Wing, Tenchi, and Dbz when watching random eps of Kai. Only one I could handle was Tenchi. And the shonen series like bleach and etc aren’t bad due to their target audience I just don’t. think they are gkod. I still enjoy tstuff for that demographic such as Rave Master and Shaman King which are still quality to me after 10 years Attack on Titan has a good premise and the manga could ne good, but as someone who’s only seen the anime I felt the pacing was bad and the cast is very unlikeable to me, which is something that I feel could’ve been avoided but its a spoiler.

But I see where im coming off as a “haha toonami rules dude” I was raised on it for childhood. But obviously I have branched out and my now taste in shows doesn’t really resonate with whats put out for casual audience so I just look hard for something.

And for dirty pair, I actually own the series and it really isn’t fan servicey at all other than “2 hot space cop girls” concept. But it really doesn’t have typical fan service of panty shots and bouncing boohs. But it is a fun series because it does exactly what its supposed to do

Mainstream comic books suck fucking ass for the most part.
Characters like Superman, Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain American, Batman etc. etc. should fucking die already.
They are around for half a century+ and every story anyone ever wanted to tell using them has been told already.

DC and Marvel are not interested to tell stories anymore but rather abuse the recognition value of established characters in order to sell books with garbage stories that remind you of penny dreadfuls or soap operas.

The great writers of the comic book industry usually deliver the best stories with self created and unrestricted universes and characters and they also deserve to own the rights to them.
Sure there’s exceptions but I’d rather read stuff like Garth Ennis’ Preacher, Neil Gaiman’s Sandman or Allan Moore’s Watchmen over and over for the rest of my life, than getting a new Spider-Man issue for free every month.

Mainstream comics are fucking stupid.

I just realized I haven’t posted this in this unpopular opinion thread yet

John Stewart/John Oliver/Steven Colbert are all overrated and not funny.

I like to watch detective series from time to time
I know they’re not supposed to be realistic. But the thing that makes me want to turn off the TV is when ordinary policemen interrogate or even arrest military personel.
As if military police didnt exist!

too bad series remained obscure in the English speaking world, except fansubs in the early 90s
but it was dubbed and broadcast in France in 1989, yet it wasnt very popular either despite the good dub

Westerns–I’ll try to give the whole genre a chance again some day… but Westerns have bored me to sleep just about every time I’ve tried to watch one. Sometimes I think my parent’s generation (“Baby Boomers” category) were the last people to actually care about and enjoy westerns. Funny thing is that I think he’s on the same page there-- when he saw the commercials for the new Lone Ranger, he laughed and said to me that his generation is probably the only group of people that would be interested in seeing that. It wasn’t surprising to either us that the movie bombed.

I think if westerns did the whole Zack Snyder Michael bay high octane visionary directing it would be dope as fuck

Dirty Pair looks amazing, I might have to go watch that…

Dat Redhead doe.

Westerns are all about building up to a big finish. I don’t even blame you for not watching them. I assume you can’t watch movies like Gran Torino or Million Dollar Baby, as Clint Eastwood does his movies exactly like the westerns that made him a household name. Invest some time, and get a nice payoff.

11 years ago I watched on a special screening "Once upon a time in the West"
Amazing experience and prior to the movie a guy explained the movie’s background to us
Westerns are meant for the big screen

Kill me Baby > Outlaw Star

For adult animation, the 90’s had some decent picks. Duckman, Dr. Katz, and so on.

That Doom movie wasnt that bad

Honestly, I’m inclined to agree. It wasn’t a great adaptation, but it was a decent movie.

Maybe people make it out worse than it actually is since it’s branded with the ‘Doom’ name. I honestly thought it was ok but the fact that it doesn’t follow the Doom games ‘storyline’ is why people hated it.

the fps scene in the doom movie was sweet. to me that was a bigger show of good faith than being a close adaption of the doom “story” would have been
