I am fair when it comes to RPGs, I think of them all as either pure shit or tolerable shit. Oblivion though was without a doubt the worst (known)RPG in the past 5 or so years. Everything about that game was shallow as hell.
Yuzo Koshiro acknowledged he used an RNG to make the music for SOR3. He might as well have said “I randomly crapped stuff on a synthesizer”. The gameplay, which is been-there-done-that, suffered immensely from having to endure beep boop bleep non-music while doing so.
LOL, I did have a blast pile driving Damnd and Rolento when I could finally catch him. Final Fight did have great style but I did find it annoying that weapons were pretty much useless. You stab a guy with a knife and it does a tiny bit more damage than a jab? In DD, you hit somebody with a knife it’s curtains. Secondly, I’m all about throwin enemies off of conveyor belts or cliffs into bottomless pits.
i dont think music has an impact on “GAMEPLAY” i think it can have influence on the experience on the whole…but not gameplay…
it was the most diverse of the series imo, had multiple branches of levels where you can pick which ending you want (mad endings), and secret moves (only available with the 6 button pad i think)…

Speaking of Oblivion, it was terrible and doesn’t compare to Morrowind. It took a universe that had an incredibly unique atmosphere/history and turned it into a generic medieval RPG.

My opinions that are unpopular HERE:
SF3 is not the pinnacle of 2D fighters. Its slow, and basically becomes parry > grab, and footsie hit confirm > super art. YAY, so fun. And the graphics suck ass.
Any SF game that the SHORYUKEN trade hits or gets stuffed (especially bad in CVS2 and A3) sucks by default for that very reason… but ofcourse because other reasons.
The SF2 and SFA shotos still look the best.

Alpha 1 is a GOOD game. Not many people or stages, but everyone is better than ANY A2 or A3 incarnation. Even Dan with his cross up j.mk> lp, c.hp > galekick/hisshou can contend.
I hate when characters are “balanced” from a previous edition of a game. EX: XSF Ryu would destroy MVC2 Ryu, or A1 Ryu would destroy A3 Ryu.
MVC2 sucks because the roster is unbalanced. Fuck, like EVERYONE that was in previous VS games were better in their previous outing, which made it easy for the big 4 to dominate. Fuck that, give me a XSF Cyclops in Marvel 2, I wouldnt need a goddamned assist. Good luck hitting me after a blocked MOB, even with a TKAHVB, and a grab into the corner is your death. Give me a XSF Ryu, aircombo in corner > into grab, OTG C.LK, hopkick, low airthrow > rinse repeat, or add a super. Man, I just FUCKING wish some other motherfuckers could represent in MVC2 like they could in previous games Shit Wolverine was a fuckin BEAST in MVC1, if he had all that shit, like the double HK jump lockdown, his priority, useful speed super, all with MVC2 assists, the motherfucker would OWN MVC2 too, but Nooooo, everyone that was good before sucks ass now. Fuck that game.
Mass Effect is the best current gen game out right now.
PS3 sucks. I had one more than a year now. I know due to fighting games, the PS3 is favored over here, but the system sucks. Free online? Sucks. Little Big Planet? Sucks. Stardust HD? Sucks. If you’re at the point that you must swoon over download games, or shit like LBP, you chose the wrong system.

Is there law that says you can only play a game if you’ve played all the ones before it? In case you haven’t noticed some games like oblivion or fallout3 are designed to appeal to those who haven’t played the previous entries and series vets alike so you should be happy that so many newcomers are taking an interest in something you like. I’ve never played RE outbreak or RE outbreak file#2 does that mean I shouldn’t be entitled to play re5 when it drops? One of my best friends loved the hell out of mgs4 without ever having played any mgs before but has considered playing through the previous 3 to understand the full story which is impossible for even the most hardcore mgs fan:rofl:

-Part 2 was one of the greatest games of all time, imo. It was undoubtedly a classic of the era, at least. I didn’t even have much interest in part 3…and it’s doubtful I could go back and play part 3 now.
-Part 5…it’s just not grabbing me. The game looks great, sure. The visuals are actually incredible. However, there’s nothing going on in the footage I’ve seen so far that makes it stand out as “WHOAHhhhhh!”, “need to play IMMEDIATELY.” status. The main issue…what happened to the horror aspect? This looks like pure action movie stuff, much like a Commando, or random “kill everybody!” movies in the early 90s that would quickly come to hbo’s Thursday Night Prime slot…movies that might star Kurt Russell, Stallone, Carl Action Jackson Weathers, etc. Anyway, where is the horror? I’m just not seeing it. I see a guy with tons of weapons…killing just a lot of mutated people. That’s not much different from the “Toxic Avenger” style of “horror”…or some random movie nobody watches on Sci Fi on a saturday afternoon.
Action and megaviolence …yeah, I love that…but where’s the horror? Resident Evil franchise appears to have lost that now. Remember the greatness of disc #2 on RE2, when “Mr. X” is stalking your character all over the place…you were always on edge because you just didn’t know where and when he was going to pop up to try and kill you…that’s the real deal…those “welllllWHOAHHOLYSHIT!” while dude breaks thru a wall and chokes you to death…or a creature suddenly plops down from the cieling, making your blood run cold for a sec.(*giant tarantula in part 1, the Licker in 2 scenes of part 2, dog busts thru the window in part 1, etc.) We need to get back to that. Those were pure jump-scares, and we need some psychological terror as well…give me some nightmarish visuals like out of The Shining or Silent Hill…good ol’ fashioned Nightmare Fuel?..unnerving…unsettling…uncomfortable moments. This is what horror is all about.
Sadly, I it’s probably going to stay that way because of RE4. While RE4 was one of the best games I have ever played if you look at it as an action game, but as a proper RE game, the series gained a bit, and lost a bit with RE4. I agree with you as far as how excited I am for it. Sure, it looks incredible, nothing else though.

While I agree with the last statement in this post, I can’t agree with the first couple. I never played Fallout prior to this new game (if I even do play 3) but one shouldn’t have to play older installments simply to ‘qualify’ to be able to enjoy a game.
^ Well, I don’t think it’s so much about qualification, more as it is about knowing what you’re getting into, or in this case, what you’re not.
Like I’ve played Fallout 2 only, and the way Fallout 3 is going, I’m not looking forward to it, as it seems almost nothing like what I got out of Fallout 2 and everything to do with Oblivion with guns.
