+1 and +1. With you on both.
Fixed.
EDIT: And for all the āSquare SUX! EVERYTHING SQUARE MAKES SUX!ā crowd, you guys are sad. Seriously. Doesnt matter whom you are.
Does FF analy rape you every night? Is that why you hate it so much?
Seriously, if the FF series (and other Square titles) are so bad, what games do you play that make you such an awesome person?
Usually ok stories, ok battle system, sometimes great stories, always excellent music.
yes
yes!!!
If you donāt like Super Castlevania 4, thatās fine. Personally, I think itās one of the ten greatest games ever made, and Iāve played every single Castlevania title released.
However, are you seriously telling me you would take fucking āHaunted Castleā, āThe Castlevania Adventureā, āCV2: Belmontās Revengeā, or even Circle of the Moon over SCV4?!?
The first three were absolutely horrific, and the fourth was mediocre at best.
Itās one thing to say you think Super Mario 64 sucked, itās quite another to say that Superman 64 was better.
The first is at least understandable, the second is just ridiculous hyperbole used to get a rise out of people.
Focus
-I was very underwhelmed by āThe New Super Mario Brothersā. It was ridiculously short and easy, with uninspired level design.
I donāt like sports games.
Majoraās Mask was my favorite Zelda, followed by Twilight Princess.
Triforce hunting killed Wind Waker for me. I never went back to beat it.
The New Super Mario Brothers was mediocre. Only save in certain spots? That alone makes it a 6/10.
I liked the Bouncer.
I donāt hate any competitive fighters (including Smash), because I think our scene needs to unify more.
I enjoy the Wii a lot (which seems to be an unpopular opinion on this board.) Itās the first console that made my mom/sister want to play video games. Virtual Console is also the shit; I wish prices would go down, though.
I think OoT is the worst 3D Zelda, but itās still pretty good.
I liked PS2ās Shinobi.
I think Pokemon games are the most enjoyable RPGs out now.
Shit. Yes.
You cannot say both of these things at once:
- Smash bros is an imbalanced game
- Banning certain things to make it a balanced game is stupid
Thatās just fucking retarded. Yes, with items on, smash is a very imbalanced party game that is a lot of fun. When you take items off, play with some levels off, it becomes an even better game, and gets the miraculous attribute of being fairly balanced. About half the characters are good enough to reasonably beat anyone until you get into the upper-levels of pro play. I personally use the 9th character of 26 and am able to beat friends of the same skill level using the top 4.
Blahblah but the fans created those rules blahblah. No, we didnāt. Nintendo adds an option to turn items off for a reason. Theyāre fun sometimes, most of the time they arenāt. Same with those stupid levels. They added the option to turn these things off because they knew people wouldnāt want to always play with them on, and they intended the game to be able to be played as people saw fit. We see fit to play it with items off and stupid levels off. That does not drastically change what game it is.
And honestly, the game gets SO much more fun and balanced when you turn items off I can barely understand why anyone who has tried both would prefer items on. NO ONE does who has played the game with them off for a reasonable period of time, no one that Iāve met, ever.
Stop saying smash tournament rules are some fake game, youāre just fucking dumb, thereās a reason MILLIONS of people play the game with those rules. But theyāre not the default rules? GASP.
STFU. That shit pisses me off.
The six best rpgās of all time.
Final Fantasy Tactics
Suikoden
Seiken Densetsu 2 ā secret of mana ā
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 6 ā ff3 ā
Shit, I forgot Mother 2 āearthboundā.
Chrono Cross was sick, but God alimghty, the final boss was the biggest cop out of all time. You have all these epic fights against Miguel and FATE, and thenā¦ you have to play the fucking keyboard. Ghey.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 is overratedā¦Wii Boxing is so much deeper!
Thats the truth right there.
and Im jumping on the halo sucks bandwagon.
Castlevania: Chi no Rondo > Super Castlevania 4. Dracula X for SNES is just a lame port/remake of it. And Suikoden 2 is the best of all 5 (or 6 if you want to count Tactics).
i actually agree, i think it is a very good gameā¦
i wasnt too impressed with crono trigger, it is good, but not jizz my pants good like everyone talks about the gameā¦
i think DMC3 is groundbreaking in terms of gameplay, simply fucking amazing, one of the most amazing in action gameplay everā¦
im outi
Roberth
What???
The FFX graphics are even better than the current rpgs that are coming out now for the PS2. FFXās graphics were way ahead of everyone else at the time it was released.
And the game was very innovative (grid system for sure) and definitely was not like the majority of previous FFs at all. It had an overwhelming amount of things to do, and the storyline had realistic characters that were developed pretty well (although I didnāt like the end of that story that much).
Iām starting to wonder how many people actually played the original Dracula X. I mean, it was released for some random-ass obscure console (the PC Engine Duo) and even THEN it was released only in Japan. That makes it as rare as Sandra Bullockās sex tapes. Most of us poor folk had to settle with the SNES version and being called āLOL GHEY!ā by the ones who supposedly ādid playā the original.
Iād agree that Super Mario 64 wasnāt really a big deal, imo. Within the franchise, Super Mario bros. 3 destroys everything else. Something about 64 just didnāt capture my attention at all like the previous games. One problem was the visual. Even at the time, those graphics were blocky as hell and ugly. It looked like a paper mache Mario, dealing with paper mache enemies. Early 3d was some serious eyesore garbage.(heh, take it way back to Star Fox on snes and Virtua Racing on Genesisā¦ohhhhh those were ugly as sin. I think an Arwing was actually about 12 or so polygonsā¦thatās funny when the characters and objects were so primitive, you could just count the polygons from memory.)
Despite being black, I never gave a shit about dat Madden, yo. I never will care, either. Exaggerated sports games are much more fun for me. Give me the NBA Jam with itās 20-foot jump slam dunks and players that are literally on fire. NFL Blitz with the late hits, and ā1st and 30!ā and other shenanigans. Realism = boring as hell.
-I never saw the appeal of Tomb Raider. First off, Laura Croft was ugly as hell back in the day, because that happened to be the time when 3d real-time graphics were still sharp, jaggy, and ugly. Her tits looked like something you could stab a person with. Her ass was a box with no kind of curve. The lips were sharpā¦ugh, NOT HOT. Secondly, the series just didnāt look like an interesting/fun game to play.
-The limitation of 4-directions of shooting is still dumb.ā¦in terms of run-n-gun shootemups. I canāt help but see this as an example of flawed design. Alien Hominid comes to mind. Come the fuck on nowā¦Contra way back on NES allowed us to shoot in 8 directions. In AHās caseā¦I guess you could say it was only a simple Flash game in the beginning, so that wouldāve been even more work for what I guess was a very small group of people as opposed to a fully realized development teamā¦whatever, it still sucked, and was probably the most troublesome thing about the gameplay to me. I still liked the game, but it was just so annoying.
-āCustom Characterā is a mode that should be in every game. Most people apparently donāt care about it, because most people simply lack any kind of good imagination, or theyāre just not creative types. Hahah, this thread is so old.
-Frogger is probably the worst āclassicā ever. How and why does this trash get made for EVERY goddamn consoleā¦time and time again? Who is clamoring for this? It was one of the first popular examples of absolutely horrible controls. The game just blatantly cheats in most versions Iāve seen itā¦and thereās the conceptual bullshit that shines thru: Here we have a FROG that canāt swim. Are you kidding me with this? Is the frog retarded or something? As the great Duke Nukem saidā¦āGet that crap outta here.ā
I donāt know what general opinion on it isā¦but Iād have to say yesā¦Nintendo Revolutionās W Boxing is the greatest boxing game ever created.
Phantasy Star is the best RPG series there is. Play 2 or 4. Imagine playing FF7 and having Cloud turn on you, heās the final boss. Thats Phantasy Star.
Super mario kart on SNES might be the funnest game ever made.
Land stalker and Beyond Oasis for Genesis were amazing games that got almost no love.
Yuzo Koshiro demands more respect (Streets of rage 1 is the best video game sound track EVER)
Dreamcast was the best system ever. PS1 is a close second.
Gran Turismo SUCKS.
Super Off road and Tecmo bowl are the best sports games made. Besides Virtua Tennis 3.
GTA 1 on PS1 was the best of the series.
Gunstar Heroes on Genesis is hands down the best shooter ever created.
Warcraft 2 is the best Blizzard game (Although Starcraft is pretty damn good)
Final Fantasy 5 is better than the rest.
Nights for Saturn was pretty damn funā¦
All Metal Gearās except Solid sucked.
Virtua Fighter is better than Tekken.
Donkey Kong Country for Snes was next level.
Neo Geo is more important to us than we realize.
Bust A Groove was the funnest PS1 game there is.
Original Street Fighter 2 with Pro Action Replay to walk around with the 4 bosses FTW!
-SotN is the best game ever made. Period.
-The Final Fantasy series is great because it is fun to play.
-With the exception of Unlimited SaGa, the SaGa series is good too, with SaGa Frontier II being the best of the series.
-Suikoden is ass. So is Lufia.
-Wild Arms is perhaps the best RPG series.
-The last boss of Wind Waker (which is better than OoT and Toilet Paper) has the exact same attack and movement pattern as the last boss of Metal Gear Solid 2. They are both cool bosses, but the fight is exactly the same.
-Graphics matter. A lot.
-Wii is disappointing.
-Shinobi PS2 was good.
-Square Enix is great. Canāt say the same about Atlus.
-Story is secondary in RPGs. The game has to be fun to play, and wanting to finish the game shouldnāt be a compulsion just because you want to know how the story ends. I can read a book for a great story. If I play a game, I should have fun with it.
-Randomly-generated dungeon maps are stupid. They destroy pacing, and theyāre hard to texture correctly, so the dungeons are always ugly as well as boring.
I liked Phantasy Star 2 and 4 quite a bit, but I donāt see how they have what it takes to beat the quality of any current rpgs out there. They have good stories I guess, but since the games were so short, the characters didnāt get that much chance to develop.
Wild Arms and Dark Cloud are constantly overlooked.
I liked FFX-2 also, why people hate it I dunno.
It also had a better combat system compared to FFX. And better customization.
