Wow…I thought I was the only one who thought Star Fox for the SNES looked as ugly as punching God in the face. Seriously, if the Super FX chip was gonna give me blocky ships that fire tons of cubes, give that shit back. Also, the voices of the characters back then were just garbled mumbles (which I can still imitate to this day), which was also pretty damn annoying. Mindless to say, I still think Star Fox is entertaining because it’s a pretty damn good shooter, but I don’t see all the hype behind the whole “OMG SFX CHEEP FTW!!!”
Same goes for VF 1…holy Christ, did I think that game was horrendous. Looked like someone created a game out of the characters that appear in Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” music video (no noses, too). And those floaty ass jumps…more airtime than Jordan, fo real! :looney: (I would change my tune starting with VF 2, but back then…GTFO with that shit, Sega)
I also enjoyed NFL Blitz for random ass fun… “3RD AND FOREVER!”
Quoted for truth. Also, Square is one of the FEW major brands that actually CARE about their fanbase. We wanted more 7, and we got it. All while you guys are still asking for a 4th SF, and MvC3.
I’m pretty sure saying “Halo sucks” is popular. EVERYONE says it that post on forums. The game was awesome. The first console FPS that controlled perfectly and kept the action constant. It was made for consoles and it shows. It’s still the best playing FPS(don’t bother with PC gaming) and the most fun.
My little brother(big time Halo2 fanatic, tournaments the whole nine yards, know what he’s talking about) has said that Halo3 is what Halo2 should’ve been.
SoR1 > SoR2&3 in music, character design and all around badassness
GoldenEye will ALWAYS be a piece of shit.
3 buttons and Ring Outs > 6,5 or 4 buttons in fighters.
There’s nothing special about God of War.
2nd Runner is and will always be the best pound for pound action game…until ZOE3 comes out on PS3.*
*- this one is tough for me because there were always other action games(on the Genesis mostly) that I simply loved and adored(Dynamite Headdy, Vectorman, Gunstar Hereos etc. etc.) but 2nd Runner had it all. Some say it was too short, but it was the perfect length for a game of that type.
Oh yeah and it’s only SIDE-SCROLLING shumps that rely on pattern memorzation not VERTICAL SCROLLING and as such
VS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SS all fucking day.
ditto. I remember walking into the arcade and seeing people huddled around the new VF and thinking “that fucking game looks like garbage” but(also starting with 2) I’ve loved the VF series.
That’s hardly an unpopular gaming opinion. Chi No Rondo is an amazing classic that plays and looks completely different than any side-scrolling Castlevania before it.
It’s incredible to think that such a badass title came out for one of the most obscure gaming systems ever.
Focus
I’ll take Tecmo Super Bowl over Madden 07’ any day of the week.
Halo doesnt suck. In fact I am very much looking forward to Halo 3.
God of War I + II > DMC3 + 1. Screw that “ooh, I’m all deep and got free-form combos!”. Just give me a game where I can scale the Collosus of Rhodes and beat Zeus’ ass, and look damn badass while I do it.
If they care about their fanbase, where the fuck is my Brave Fencer Musashi 2? And don’t give me that bullshit Brave Legend Musashi nonsense? That game was ass and you ALL know it.
Square only cares about it’s pockets. That’s why you have all that FFVII related bullshit circulating the market like bad crack. They knew that everyone was still riding FFVII nuts and they cashed in big time.
Konami loves it’s fans more than anyone else. Damnit, Shade. If we keep arguing like this, I might have to block you off AIM.
HELL YES. God of War’s presentation is better, but DMC3’s gameplay will always be my favourite. The game REWARDS you for changing up your attacks and not spamming the same move over and over, while also giving you the ability to change things up on the fly, with a level of freedom that hasn’t really been duplicated elsewhere. And the list of moves and weapons is tremendous as well - from a thunder-charged guitar to a pair of gauntlets with SF moves.
I can’t wait till DMC4. Changing styles ON THE FLY is going to be ridiculous. Not to mention tossing people around with Nero’s arm. Heavenly what?
i’m inclined to disagree.
gow is hella repetative, giving little to no room for gameplay expanision.
that and kratos’ v.a. was annoying, he sounds like he’s trying to breathe and yell at the same time.
and a fucking loincloth isn’t badass, it’s pretty homo.
and oh yes…Gran Turismo = ehhhhhhhh. It’s supposed to be a racing game right? I had this silly idea that speed is a rather important aspect of this genre. Well, GT games look so slooooooooow. How is that supposed to be exciting? For a great sense of speed, Wipeout and FZero destroy that trash.
I never cared about Paperboy. It was just an “ok” game to me.
I had to work too damn hard to have fun with DMC3. I just want to have some simple fun when I play video games(which is proberly why I cant stand RPGs, MMOs, etc). If that means mashing square and triange ad nauseum, well so be it.
Oh, I totally forgot to add another classic: Prince of Persia 2 is pure, unbridled, ass. How the fuck did the magazines give it such high scores and the game is just frustrating to play from beginning to end? It was just a horrible experience. And the soundtrack was pure sidewalk trash.
