Thread sucks.
Killer 7 is the best damn game ever.
Garcian Smith bitches.
truth
No one mentioned ffta yet, that game always gets shitted on.
But I played it, and I enjoyed it. Laws and Judges didnât effect my gameplay, Iâm too good to let that happen.
Adjusted my tactics, and bam! Beat it without any problems.
halo sucks x2.
I love Chrono Cross. Seriously.
N
Iâll throw mine downâŚ

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter was not only the best game in the series, but one of the only ones that didnât outright suck. I canât believe how much people complained, and now look! No more BoF games. Dragon Quarter did an amazing job at what it did, especially for a first try, and people are only mad about the game cos they suck at it. (Yes, it is possible to beat the game without ever restarting, and never using Dragon Powers except when necesary - I totally did it the first time I played through it.)
-
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is a lame fucking game. I wrote a blog about it once⌠http://jamieobeso.blogspot.com
-
Kingdom Hearts simply has to be the most overrated RPG series ever. STUPID story, no pacing, terrible controls, terrible AI, and whack random difficulty (unless, like 99% of people that play it, you spend tons of time looking for extra stuff, fighting in the colloseum, and leveling up. Letâs see how you do when you reach the end of the game at level 45, as you would if you just went through the game from beginning to end).
-
Speaking of âheartsâ. Shadow Hearts: Covenant sucks because it completely ruins the first game by retconning a bunch of stuff, and then giving you a really lame, blueballs ending. Fuck that game.
-
Atlus and NIS put out so much CRAP. Iâve never seen a good game from NIS, and you have to sift through so many stupid games to find a good game in Atlusâs library. They remind me of vanity publishers, but for RPGs.
-
While weâre talking about NIS, Disgaea is one of the stupidest SRPGs Iâve ever played; itâs a game about spending your whole life doing sidequests. The main game is really dumb, and really easy, requiring virtually no strategy at all. Case in point, I beat almost every fight just using Laharl.
-
The only SRPG Iâve ever played that was stupider than Disgaea was La Pucelle. Disgaea with no job classesâŚgreat. There is absolutely, ABSOLUTELY zero strategy to this game.
-
Seiken Densetsu (Secret of Mana) series is sooooooooooo bad! All the games try to be all pretentiously epic, and wind up being really stupid, and with clunky gameplay. The only game in the series I liked was Legend of Mana, which was unfortunately the easiest; however, the control you have during battle, and the options you have available to youâŚTHOSE are EXACTLY on point with what I think makes an Action RPG fun.
-
Super Mario RPG doesnât hold a candle to Paper Mario. SMRPG, like the Seiken Densetsu games, thinks itâs all fuckinâ epic and shit, but itâs really lame. Paper Mario doesnât have any illusions of grandeur, and is just simply fun. Hell, it even pokes fun at itself. Itâs very hard to not enjoy such a feelgood game, in my opinion.
-
Final Fantasy 7 is a really good game. This is so often argued against by people on the internet, that it seems like unpopular gaming opinion to like it these days. I donât care if itâs your favorite RPG or not - itâs not even close to one my favorites; but, I still canât deny that the end product is very, very good.
-
Final Fantasy 12 is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetarded. Gambits really make fighting seem like a necesary evil, and if youâre not constantly questing, you always get pwned going to the next place, and have to spend hours leveling up and getting new equipment. Given the TERRIBLE pacing (takes maybe, seven hours to get to your next destination? Then all you get for it is a new destination, and a bunch of strange names dropped on you that youâve already forgottenâŚor is this the first time youâve heard them? I canât even tell) to go along with it, and you have an agonizingly long, stupid-ass game.
-
I loved Working Designs, no matter how many lame fanboys hated their style. It was very easy to empathize with characters in a WD games, and WD still has put out one of the only games that has ever moved me to tears. Anyone who thinks otherwise can fuck off.
-
Symphony of the Night was okay. Personally, I think Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow takes everything about SotN and does it much, much better.
-
Granted, I havenât tried the newest Zelda game yet; but, I really think that Zelda was better in 2D, and the whole series would be much cooler if Link acted how he did in the American cartoon.
-
Itâs true - Megaman X8 is the best X game; both in terms of creativity and balance (and trust me, Iâd know a bit about that - Iâve beaten X1-5 with X with no power-ups other than whatâs necesaryâŚoh, and Iâve done that in X8, with everyone, cos itâs the only game where you can do it with everyone).
-
RPGâs do NOT need to be long nor epic to be good or have a good story; in fact, a lot of my favorite RPGs are about 20-30 hours long (FF4, SaGa Frontier, Legend of Mana, Okage, BoF Dragon Quarter, Shadow Hearts, Growlanser 2 & 3, etc.)
-
Killer7 was not that bad. I donât get why people hate it so much.
-
Grandia is a stupid series - they just set up a premise for a story and then jack off to their own battle system for forty hours. Grandia Xtreme was nice because, at the very least, they embraced it and didnât try to pretend like their game was all epic and shit.
-
While weâre on the subject of how much I hate Grandia, Grandia 3 might very well be the most dissapointing game Iâve ever played. The first 1/4 of the game was truly AMAZINGâŚbut as soon as Miranda and Alonso left the party, the game turns into a REALLY boring dungeon crawlerâŚ
-
Okage: Shadow King. Terrible gameplay. GREAT everything else. One of the best RPGs on PS2, or anywhere.
-
Lunar: Dragon Song would have went from âcatastrophically badâ to âdissapointingly mediocreâ if they had just allowed you to select enemy targets in battle.
-
I donât get why people think the Metroid series is good. âŚI really donât have much of an argumentâŚI just donât get it.
-
Metal Slug is no match for Contra.
-
Sports games were much better when they were much less realistic (Baseball Simulator 1000, Tecmo Bowl, NBA Jam, etc.)
-
Lufia 2. Itâs okay. Nothing really stands out about it in my opinionâŚexcept for fetch quests, puzzles, and a very abrupt, unrealistic sprouting of romantic feelings between Maxim and Selan.
-
Resident Evil 4 was STUPID. It took everything fun about the series and trashed it. Now, all thatâs left is an action game where the only difficulty lies in the fact that you canât control Leon worth shit. How the FUCK did this game get so popular?
-
Spawn: In The Demonâs Hand for Sega Dreamcast is hands down the best 4-Player deathmatch game ever made.
-
I really think that high level play in fighting games is totally possible on a pad.
-
God of War was easy to the point where it was really boring. Easy games? Not bad at all - I play easy games all the time? Boring games? Not forgivable.
-
More people need to play the unsung classics of SquareSoftâs PSX days, like Legend of Mana, Brave Fencer Musashi, and Vagrant Story.
-
The only thing that sucked about Suikoden 3 (which ultimately made me stop playing it) was that everything was sooooooo slow.
-
I liked CFE; the gameâs ultimate downfall is that it was just REALLY BORING to play after like 15 minutes.
-
Ico is a step in the right direction for video games as a medium for literature.
Since weâre talking about unpopular opinions, let me come in and defend halo, we all know it isnât the greatest FPS in the world, but sometimes games bring other things to the table.
For instance lets take SF, is anyone going to admit that WW is the greatest fighting game engine ever? No not really, but what it did was bring 2 player fighting to the arcades, and then once they established their niche, they worked on improving the game.
In that way, really halo brought FPS play to everyone and made it very accessible to the average gamer. I donât know for sure, but people say halo3 is a step up from halo2, so maybe the series will turn out ok.
Also, all RPGs except lunar suck (and i mean the sega cd version)
actually itâs pretty easy to beat KH at level 45âŚ
fixed
I have to say that SoTN was a better designed game, but SC4 was a lot more fun to play at the time, a better experience IMO.
What the hell?!
lol @ Balanced fighter.
Your game is âsupposedâ to be a random party game. It wasnât meant to be a fighter. Never was. It just took a few dudes to go into the dip switches and turn shit off and when they found out that three kicks connected for some damage, they did the math and discovered something within the game. If anything, Smashers created Power Stone 3 for Capcom.
If you think about it, it IS a fake/imbalanced game. The game you people play these days was not created by Nintendo themselves. It was created by the fans.
Iâm not gonna lie, Smash is fun to watch. Itâs Marvel Jr. Would I catch myself playing it? Probably not. There will always be people that are gonna judge whatever. Just keep playing your game and STFU.
shinobi>ninja gaiden.
imo.
Just to clarify about SotN: I do not hate it, and it certainly is not bad. However, it IS monstrously overrated. Itâs too easy for all the power Alucard gets, its item drop rate is absurd unless you use the Luck code, its music, while really good, got repetitive later (over half the inverted castle had the same theme, and it was one of the more lackluster themes in the game), and, more importantly:
IT DIDNâT âPIONEERâ JACK AND SHIT.
Pardon the bolding, but it had to be said. SotN ripped off the Super Metroid formula and added RPG levels/stats/equipment. Thatâs not innovation or invention. Itâs just combining two aspects of other games into a cohesive whole that worked really well.
Despite its flaws, SotN remains a stellar game. Easily one of the PS1âs best. But best Castlevania? No dice. Maybe SC4 isnât the best one either, but donât just stand there and tell me that Iâm wrong for calling SotN wildly overrated when it very clearly is. It started a trend with new Castlevania titles, but that is IT. And those titles did the formula much better. Circle of the Moon and the Sorrow games are all better than SotN. Portrait of Ruin is pretty good too.
:china: :nunchuck: SâMORE OPINIONS :nunchuck: :china:

Fuck Mario 64. New 2D Mario games FTW. New Super Mario Bros. is a step in the right direction.
-
Luigi > Mario. Seriously, the dude needs his own GOOD game.
-
Toad should still be super strong.
-
The Super Star Wars series on SNES is another set of titles that is woefully underrated. Play them if you can; they are deliciously good. Super Empire Strikes Back is MONSTROUSLY DIFFICULT, though. Be warned.
-
Yoshiâs Island on the SNES still looks better than most 2D games made TODAY. Itâs like the 2D game version of Sun Tzuâs Art of War.
Why not, I did, and âuh-huhâ, in that order.
To clarify:
Why wouldnât you call it Street Fighter? Maybe we shouldnât be calling SF3 âStreet Fighterâ because of parries, or the Alpha games âStreet Fighterâ because of alpha counters and custom combos, or hell even ST âStreet Fighterâ because Supers were never in the games before.
I played a metric ton of SNES titles. Kirby Superstar remains, in my eyes, the best one. Of course, itâs entirely possible Iâm forgetting a better title. If you name some, Iâll let you know.
I said âlikely.â I didnât say that 95% of the world was always right.
Strider > Shinobi > Ryu Hayabusa
Thatâs my current standing.
i totally forgot about strider.
strider needs a new gameâŚ
seriously.
with a style system like dmc3 where you can change the focus of combat, but make it on the fly instead of at the beginning of the level.
robo-animal assists.
2d/3d graphics, almost like what they did with maverick hunter x.
imo.
Agreed for the most part. RE4 isnât bad, just thereâs a feeling that is lost in that game when compared to RE1,2, 3.
I play with a pad so yes, it is possible to play at a high level with it.
Sports games point is in a way right-on. Only football games I like when itâs more realistic. Me and my friend were playing NHL '94 for Genesis the other night right after playing NHL 07 for 360 and we couldnât believe how much fun it was. To me no basketball game has ever topped Jam/TE/Hangtime to this day.
For all those arguing over SOTN vs CV4? To me SOTN is still my favorite game ever, and I will defend it to death. And you guys forgot to mention Draculaâs Curse is better then CV4 anyway. So therefore it canât be the best Castlevania.
You know, Iâve been thinking the same exact thing. If thereâs a team that needs to make a Strider game, itâs the DMC3 folks. Ourorboros cell-processed would make me cream my pants.
I need to pick up Strider 2 off eBay as a matter of fact.
Dude, No way. Mario 64 is amazing.
The Elder Scrolls games seem overrated, or I just donât get them. Either way from what Iâve played/seen of Morrowind and Oblivion they just look hella boring.
The Command and Conquer series blows. Play SC or Age of Kings.
Donât get me wrong, I love Resident Evil, but every fucking game is the same thing.
Zombies/monsters-> Fight the zombies/monsters -> Umbrella behind it call -> Rocket Launcher to defeat boss (with the outside assist) -> 5 minutes till _______ self distructs
