Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

:lovin: you know it !!! hahahahaa

Brave Fencer Musashi deserves a ton of love. I think I’ve only spoken to two people that have actually played the game.

-Goldeneye was simply the Halo of an earlier generation.

-Zelda II: Adventures of Link is my favorite Zelda game.

-I fucking hate these RPGs with decent systems but the story is so dumbed down and retarded it makes you not want to bother finishing them: i.e. Grandias, MMX: Command Mission, Breath of Fires.

I also hate how the story HAS to become epic everytime. Like in FF8 I was content with being a SEED and doing some missions. I need to assassinate a sorceress, that’s great. I need to go rescue some dude on a train? Awesome. Why does time-traveling, world-ending BS have to throw itself in there? I stop being immersed in the story because this is all so ridiculous.

I can suspend my belief when it’s Ryu, Rei, and Teepo all playing Robin Hood with McNeil and shit. But then you have to throw Goddesses and shit in there. Fuck that.

Yes it does!

Halo is just another run of the mill FPS. It?s safe to say that it?s so fascinating to most people because it was probably the first time console-only game players saw a FPS outside of Doom back in the early 1990s. Halo was designed to be the first Battlefield 1942 before DiCE studios came up with the idea; long before Microsoft bought Bungie and sat on the game until later having it dumbed down and making it their flagship launch title for the Xbox. It deserves credit for being a fun party game, but outside of that, it?s just another FPS that doesn?t deserve all the hype and praise given to it. I don?t doubt that Halo 3 will finally have some actual innovation, but the first two just aren?t anything special outside of being FPSs on consoles.

The Final Fantasy series has its merits, but maybe it?s the animu otaku die-hards that make me dislike it. I don?t think it?s that great. I often get disappointed when no one has heard of the Phantasy Star series outside of PSO and PSU. They were such large disappointments for many of Phantasy Star?s original fan base, and instead seem to just purely be PS for the next generation. See this article: http://www.sega-16.com/Sega%20Analysis.php

EA Games just ruins the game market nowadays. It seems that games are more about making money a lot more now than what they used to be back in the last 15 years ?at least that?s the impression EA gives off.

I can tell the Xbox 360 was made in America by its thin line-up of genres; FPS after sports after racing, etc. Now that the PS3 has lost a lot of its exclusives, it?ll probably pick up more.

Sega should stop re-releasing its old games in classic collections and make some more new ones. I know you can do something today with Streets of Rage and another Gunstar Heroes. Don?t be afraid to use your IPs and other franchises ?just don?t abuse them like EA games does ?sequel after sequel after sequel.

Not putting out a Fighting game every year is the best thing Capcom ever did.

i am disappointed in the announcement for starcarft 2…

i was looking for an entirely new game, since most of their games are sequals apon sequals…additionally i want to see something revolutionary come from blizzard again…

im outi

Roberth

^ Knowing the new Blizzard, I wouldn’t count on it.

 My bad. I should’ve inserted the word “shitty” before “Chrono Cross.” :looney:

You can now make that three.

You are my hero and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Having opinions that go against the norm is one thing, but you’re comparing two games that are the complete opposite of one another and that’s fucking stupid. Comparing a shooter to brain game is one of the dumbest things I’ve seen done on this board. Now you’re just saying dumb shit to see what happens. Do us all a favor, log off, and forget shoryuken.com even exists. Because you’re a fucking moron.

Thanks.

People that bash halo are funny. I Find it to be, and millions of others, really fun, and its not the gameplay that also kicks ass, im pretty sure most people not only love it for the multiplayer and simple fun it brings, but the Story as well, something doom and most other PC shooters lack, read closely, MOST of them lack, not all. im pretty sure the novels and the marvel comic and movie coming out later on are proof of this. its more than just, look a bad guy ! Zap ! ._.

Everyone thinks that.

that’s no secret

Maybe, just don’t call it Street Fighter.

Did you not play half of the SNES library?

Now you’re just contradicting yourself.

Give it some time. It will deliver.

Two things I agree with very much, for good measure.

Tales of the Abyss’ storyline is just a bunch of stupid plot twists from the other tales games smashed into one game.

Love that game to death!!! ugh!!!

ape escape…

Mine:

  • Super Castlevania 4 was one of the WORST Castlevania games I’ve ever played, and I’ve played nearly every single one ever made.
  • Final Fantasy has NEVER been a stellar series. 4 and 6 were the true gems, 2 and 8 were solid games, the rest really wasn’t anything special. I can’t really say anything up to and including 8 was terribly BAD, but they weren’t great.
  • Computer and console “RPGs” need a new title, you really have very little interaction and role-playing to do.
  • Square-Enix IS shit.
  • Kirby Super Star is subjectively the best game on the SNES. I think there’s a point where there is no one true best game. That said, I should go back and play Illusion of Gaia, I’ve always been a latent Soul Blader fan. First one needed a plot though. :stuck_out_tongue:

People who suck at smash brothers and try to tell people running tournaments how to play are fucking idiots. Most of them have never really even given the game a chance with items and bullshit stages off, and prefer to just keep it how it’s “supposed” to be, which is an imbalanced random party game, than give it a shot as a real, balanced fighter. And since they refuse to abide by the rules everyone else abides by to play the game seriously, they call it a fake/imbalanced game. It’s hypocrisy at its highest level.

How the fuck these people think they have the authority to judge smash as a game when they suck at it is beyond me.

Wind Waker Was Great

Agressive Inline was so fun!

D&D > Console RPG’s.

Road Rash for Sega was hypnotic, I could play all day and not get bothered. Skitchen’ on the other hand sucked because fruitbooting sucks.
M.U.S.H.A. ruled just beause of the music. I wish some one that does video game cover songs did the entire sound track, my ears would be in heaven.

My hacked PSP says you’re full of it.

Pump It Up series >>>>>>>>>> Dance dance revolution.

DDR is the equivalent of mashing, it’s nice eye foot coordination but that shit aint dancing, on PIU you can actually see people get up there and do goddamned coreographies. Not to mention the music of the DDR series is just crap created for the occidental japanophiles.

I hate the trend of making games so fucking easy, go and learn from capcom and do what they did on Megeman Powered Up, they added an easy mode which is actually easy and fun for the people who just like megaman but are no good at it (and give little kids a chance to get into the series) and leave us with the Hair-ripping hard difficulty for the ones of us who want a challenge in our games.

Mario Sunshine was a great fucking game.

Unpopular opinions…*

-Seperation Anxiety was a good game. And, it was better than Maximum Carnage.

-The idea of 15 past-war themed FPS’ a year is not appealing.

-Removing the second generation Eclipse from the NFS series hurt potential sales

-The tier system sucks the fun out of some fighting games. Even alone. I can’t shake thinking that I’m kidding myself for using characters that I enjoy. I don’t mean to imply that some characters being better is the problem. It’s just that we all know it and make it a point to utilize these characters.

-Ken is infinitely better than Ryu. I wouldn’t call this “unpopular” but people neglect to regard it as objective truth.**

-SNK > Capcom, that’s what I think. Capcom could easily sway me with a new fighting game every 2-3 years. Game for game, Capcom is largely better, but SNK’s offerings are good enough to edge out the old quantity vs quality debate. And, I like KOFXI as much as MvC2.

-Alpha is superior to III. It’s not as balanced, technical, or impressive-looking, but it’s just more fun to me. And, the roster is unmatched.

-Chip is far and away the best GG character.

-Capcom vs SNK 2 for the Xbox is bad because the controls suck. NeoWave, also. SvC controls better for Christ’s sake.

-KOF98 is better than 2002, certainly. But so is 2003.

***Except that one.
