Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

And since I can’t edit my own posts for some reason I’m going to continue like nothing’s wrong:

The music is weak. I don’t suppose making consistantly good music is as easy as refining controls or whatever so I’ll be lenient. There were only like 3 songs I liked from the whole game and one of them is a special stage (which kinda suck, a detail I neglected to mention earlier). Sonic Adventure’s music was the bomb, Sonic Adventure 2’s was pretty good and then everything fell apart.

In the process of giving every team the same stages, they robbed the game of its personality. I realize it’s hard to have tolerable/enjoyable stages AND personality (just like it’s hard to balance a fighting game) but I doubt it needed to be that bad/obvious. I beat the game with Team Sonic and couldn’t find any incentive to continue (other than the story, which I’m a sucker for).

My dream Sonic game needs:

-Sonic Adventure’s free-roaming between stages
I’ll agree that this is pointless/worthless but I liked a break and handling the characters wasn’t a chore, either.
-Sonic Adventure’s music quality
-Sonic Adventure 2 Batlle’s Chao system
SA1’s was good but SA2B’s blew it out of the park and SH was retarded enough not to have it.
-NIGHTs pinball was kinda cool.
-SA2B’s head-to-head was sweet
-They also need to find a way to make everyone’s stages enjoyable. Perhaps making the Power Characters’ stages a mix between Tekken Force and Sonic’s stages, to prevent gross repetition. I don’t know how the hell those robotic/flying characters are supposed to get by, though…They can either do that or make it just Sonic. I don’t need a new furry thing every two years any-damn-way. When Sonic Team churns them out like that they get annoying. My older cousin once watched me play Sonic Adventure DX:

“What the fuck is that thing…It looks like it’s flying for the uterus

Somebody hire this man.

I have everyone here beat: I LIKED TRUE CRIME: NEW YORK

That’s why I put in my list of RPGs that are definitely NOT shitty.

ALL of the Grandias are like that.
The Grandia games probably have the best battle system of any turn-based RPG but:
–Mind numbingly cliche plots (even the major twist in Grandia 2 had actually been done before)
–Sub-par characters, including a couple of fairly irritating/annoying characters who recieve a lot of screen time
–Each game actually has some very few GREAT characters who become dumbed down and recieve minimal screen time (Feena, Milennia)

At least the horrible story of Grandia 1 was saved by the overall kiddy charm of the game.

Suikoden 2 is a time piece. It was good…for 1998. But Suikoden 3 just blows it away in terms of actual quality.

I agree agree with this man 100%.

Suikoden 3 was hard to get into at first, but once I did there was no turning back.

I hated the “buddy” system, timed spells, and area spells which can hurt your own party until I realized all the new strategies that Konami added with those things.

Easily the best gameplay system of the Suikoden games (which always had a battle system WAAAY too simple for its own good), and Konami are fools for not using it again.

–For the last time…CHRONO CROSS SUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKS

–Xenogears also sucks. I put up with the awkward, clunky, and frustrating battle system on Disc 1 and kept going since I was intrigued by the story.
And then they fucked it all up on Disc 2 and after they took the control out of my hands for 4 hours, I said “FUCK THIS”.
I still have the game, just to say I have it, and I may give it another shot and finish it one day…but I can’t ever see myself liking the battle system.

I guess we are at odds on that one then buddy. But I guess there is a reason why this is called a “Unpopular Gaming Opinions” topic.
Oh, and I think that the Legacy of Kain games had one of the best, most enjoyable and intriguing stories ever told in a game.

the N64 controller is the worst controller ever. sure it introduced the analog stick but the actual controller is a hideous monstrosity.

not to mention the analog stick was pure horse shit since if u played on that controller on a daiy basis the fucking thing would wear itself down and disintigrate before your own eyes.

read the thread now sir… it says “unpopular gaming opinions”

Agree with you on both accounts.

Seriously, Goldeneye is glitchy as fuck. Shooting through walls aint cool at ALL. I guess Goldeneye gets so much respect because it was the first 4-player FPS to pop up in a mainstream console, but nothing else (of course, I could be wrong, but then again, who could blame me?).

And about the SSBM tourney scene…yeah, some people might blow a fuse about it, but indeed: trying to “balance out” the game by taking out all the items and only playing on one stage = BORING! SSBM is all about chaotic messes and shit. Stop trying to place SSBM as a “valid fighting game” by taking away 90% of the features. Sure, there may be some “cheap spots” in other stages, but hey, if you see one guy trying to hog it, why don’t the other 3 just hunt him down? I’m tellin’ ya…

I still wonder why people didn’t check out Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems, which was pretty much a sequel to Mutant Apocalypse. I guess it was because it was released in the dwindling days of the SNES.

:rofl:We also owe to that controller one of the most pointless peripherals in video game history: THE RUMBLE PACK! Yes, go buy yourself a chunky addition for your controller that will ALLOW YOUR CONTROLLER TO SHAKE! :wtf:

i don’t get the hype behind gow.

i played both and was dissapointed.

fucking pre-fabricated trillogy formula ftl.

I agree with everyone posting about Gears of War. Seriously, it’s good, but to me nothing I haven’t seen before.

Ain’t that some truth right there. Well, at least the Rumble Pack gave way to us having rumble built into most of the gaming consoles of today(ehem, MOST…), and I like rumble, just not as a huge clunky brick you attach on your controller.

-I think the Thief series had the potential to kick some serious ass, especially the older "fps"ones that were for PC only. I always enjoyed those games more then Splinter Cell, and besides, it had a very unique art style in comparison to other stealth games.

-Since we’re talking about SSMB, I find that game boring, both in a pro level and casual level with items and using all stages.

-GTAIII>All other GTA games. But in general, I find GTA to be way too over-rated. Decent games, nothing mind blowing.

EDIT-Duke Nukem 3D still kicks ass to this day, much better then a lot of FPS coming out today. Word.

You speak the absolute truth.

Also the Paper Mario was the shittiest RPG series I have ever played, bland gameplay, cliche story, bad graphic design. I just don’t see how people can play such a monstrosity.

Yeah Metal Gear Solid games dont work for me. i stopped after 2. Felt like i’d play the game for 2 minutes and watch 5 minutes of cut scene. It’s wonderful to watch, but horrible to play.

I hate that transfer pack, I love playing Pokemon Red/Blue on crack speed, but that pitiful shit would always fuck up.It would either not read the game or give me the ‘something bad happened’ screen with a small movement of the controller. What a shitty ass peripheral.

Edit: I still think that the GC controller is the worst, yes worse than the N64 controller.

I sought it out, since I love Mutant Apocalypse and a sequel sounded like heaven. Truth be told, War of the Gems was not BAD, but compared to X-Men is was sub-par. The music was also a huge turn-off: Mutant Apocalypse has stellar music (boss theme FTW), but War of the Gems has elevator music. There were some cool boss fights though, like against Magus.

I posted that it was awesome, so you aren’t agreeing with me. But yeah, I can see how it can be thought of as been-there-done-that. I loved it. The gameplay was tight, the control scheme perfect, the feel of the game was great, and the presentation (audiovisuals + cinematics) were top notch. But it ain’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Still, though, back when I posted at GameFAQs and scrubs would try to say “Sonic 360 is better than Gears of War” I had SOOOOOOOO much fun putting 'em down. :bgrin:

Don’t forget that its engine (Unreal 4) has been licensed by Square-Enix. … Which probably means jack and squat, but maybe a good Dirge of Cerberus sequel isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

Agreed 100%. The GBA-GC cable was a godsend compared to that thing.

Killer Instict deserves more love.

so are you saying that chrono cross is actually the best RPG ever made???
