Kefka did not gain his power suddenly. Like, at all.
- He attacks Sabin in the imperial camp with a flail and runs when outmatched.
- In Narshe, he fights hard enough to need a team to make him flee.
- By the time you reach the Magitek research facility, your party is HIDING from a Kefka that is able to toss espers aside like rag dolls.
- In the sealed gate cave, his presence alone is enough to cause the party panic (admittedly, that fight ending in one hit is ghetto).
- In Thamasa, he’s a match for both Leo (via trickery, but it still counts) AND a small army of espers.
- From there, after using the power of the Warring Triad, he slowly absorbs that power over a year to become a god.
Kefka’s rise to power is the polar opposite of “sudden.”
Kuja is WAY more sudden, despite starting off very powerful already. He’s just like, “HAHA I’m in Trance now!” It came out of nowhere, like many of the events in that game’s final disc.
The events of that year are not completely known. You don’t know that the world remained static from the fresh World of Ruin setup to when Celes woke up. In fact, given some characters’ dialogue and actions (Terra describing Kefka’s destruction of Mobliz, Edgar trying to get back into his castle, various townsfolk talking about towns getting fried by the light of judgement, etc.), it is extremely unlikely that nothing has changed.
Kefka caused the apocalypse and was toying with what was left, a fitting action for a mad jester granted the powers of a god. His credibility is not in doubt; he DID destroy hope, and left people living in despair. That an opposition was mounted and that he was defeated in no way, shape, or form negate what he managed to accomplish in his mad quest for sadistic purpose, anymore than Darth Vader and the Empire’s defeat brought back all the lives the Empire ended.

I agree more in favor for R/B, I wish I didn’t waste my time with Yellow. It sucked, all that following the anime crap. I don’t need no fucking pikachu following me around, when that extra space can be used for an even better pokemon. If you ask me G/S might be slightly better than R/B, it’s just that G/S elite four was retarded easy.

If you are asking why the game isn’t highly ranked in the fighting community as say Third Strike, Marvel, Super Turbo, and CvS2 well my guess is probably due to:
A. It didn’t get the exposure that these games got as they came out during the Twilight of the Arcade’s Life (Third Strike is the only exception but people have done plenty of those “How did Third Strike come to be?” threads.
B. It gives a very different, how should I say, “vibe” then those games do.

I stopped playing them because all the Pokemon are ugly as ass now. I tried playing Sapphire and I couldn’t form a team because every single last pokemon sickened me to the core. I can’t play as something I can’t stand to see. All the designs are lazy and ugly and crap. No amount of strategic improvement the game has now can hide that.
Metroid 1 is a pretty terrible game
SOTN was a good game, but I definitely don’t think it deserves to be on any Top 10 Games of all Time list. Top 100, but not Top 10
Gran Turismo games are good technically and graphically, but not really fun.
Super Metroid had a large amount of WTF DO I DO NOW moments.

Hyper Fighting doesn’t get the love it deserves. ST is overrated.
-Guilty Gear just looks stupid to me. The fighting is more than decent, pretty good actually, but the game looks just plain stupid. a bunch of transvestites with swords fighting eachother. not my cup of tea.
-I find arcana heart to be just freaky. well it does have some charm to it when women play it, but i don’t see the charm of grown men fighting as what seems to be 8 year old girls wearing bathing suits. ugh…
-I’d rather play sf4 and ssbm over blazblue anyday.
-Tekken’s music up to 5 and 5dr was mostly just plain horrible.
-Super Mario Brothers 3 does not even come close to Super Mario world. the racoon’s fun, but yoshi just shits all over that suit.
-the Nes Metroid is mediocre by today’s standards.
-While not as good as OoT, which is the best game ever made, the wind waker is an extremely solid game and i applaud its art style and i actually feel it was the first and only game in the series which really gave Link some personality.
-The water temple is not torture. i never had any trouble with those temples.
-I think earthbound is better than final fantasy.
-the middle ages is the lamest place a game can take place in.
-i think R.O.B being added to brawl was a fun and good idea. just too bad they stripped away the techniques from that game that made it faster and more fun for people like me.
-i only play fighting games, except smash bros, on arcade sticks and i think the gamecube controller is the best gamepad ever released. it just feels perfect.
-people that buys fps’es on consoles are idiots.
-the mortal kombat series basically consists of shitty games from start to end.
-twelve and necro are the only characters from 3s that should return in the later iterations of sf4.
-The Dan Hibiki joke is not fun anymore and capcom should stop trying to keep him in their games.
