Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

The games back then were a lot more challenging than the cake walks we get for $60.

I agree. I blame society in general for being more about instant-gratification than ever before.

Yes it’s true that games nowadays are catered to casual gamers more then ever, just look at the wii librabry. (devs want dat $$$)

At the same rate most games these days have multiple difficulties and a good handful of them are legitimately challenging like cod4 on veteran while a lot of old games are retardedly hard due to poor game design.

Seriously.

When an sRPG is as easy as FFTA2 or the disgaea games/countless other sRPGs, there’s just no fucking point in playing them.

Arashi No Saxophone from KOF96 is overrated as fuck. It’s a good theme, but people were pissing themselves at how great it was and I had to download it to see the hype. I wasn’t that impressed.

The original Arashi No Saxophone from KOF95 is a much better theme. It’s actually one of my favorites. Sadistic Eyes, Stormy Scream and the original Arashi No Saxophone. All these Iori themes are better than ANS 2 :arazz:

Balrog’s (boxer) theme is my favorite theme in sf2. Ryu’s comes in 2nd. Fuck you Guile.

Remy is my favorite Guile clone. It’s a shame he got it so bad in sf3.

I think Akuma is a shitty character and a scrub magnet.

Urien would be WAY more tolerable if he fought in the suit and didnt look like Sisqo.

In every SF game except SF3, yeah he really really was.
Then he got slapped with the lowest stamina and tied for lowest stun in the game and 98% of Gouki players suddenly shifted characters.

Also, Ocarina of Time sucks.
A lot.

I shoulda said except sf3, but he still does attract ALOT of noobs

Alot of newer players dont know Akuma has the lowest stamina, and then want ask me why are they dieing so quickly.

Never said it didn’t matter. I said that I can look past it as I kill things in style. Most if not all games have at least one story element I have beef with, and lo and behold most to all of those issues are due to some stereotype or cliche.

And yes, Bioware is too overrated for words in my eyes. I just don’t care. At all.

I hate both Bioware and Tales.

 Different strokes for different folks I guess.

  • Forcing you to play through a game twice is not good game design. This is aimed not only at certain Tales titles, but ANY game that doesn’t give you everything if you don’t play through the same game again, including games that withhold harder difficulty levels until you “prove yourself” on the one prior. (Exception - games that use multiple playthroughs as their main gimick/plot device, but those still have to make the experience fresh every time.)

  • It is possible to like a game knowing that it is a piece of shit, or to dislike a game that you believe to be good. Granstream Saga is a horrible, horrible game, and if I was a game reviewer, I’d verbally destroy it… yet I enjoyed it immensely. On the other hand, most GTA games are very, very well-designed games, but I don’t care for them.

  • Dissidia should be for XB360, not PSP.

  • I hope Tales of Vesperia stays XB exclusive, just to stick it to Japanese gamers that are too pussy to buy that evil American console.

  • Raiding sucks. Hard.

  • Fuck Tatsunoko. Give me Pocket Fighter 2.

  • Wolverine would totally DESTROY Kenshin in a fight. Unless you give Kenshin an adamantium sword. Then, Kenshin STILL loses. Just not as badly.

  • Kingdom Hearts’s story is not deep, it’s garbage. I regret all three of the domestically-releashed KH game purchases I made. Still like my Kingdom Key collectible, though.

  • Asteroids > Ikaruga.

  • Secret of Evermore > Final Fantasy 12.

  • Despite what I just said, FF12 is one of the best English translations of a Japanese video game, like, ever. FF Tactics: War of the Lions is right up there with it, which is amusing considering how bad the original one was (DEFEAT DYCEDARG’S ELDER BROTHER!).

  • FF7 would have been much better if Shin-ra was the main villain, and not Sephiroth + “ancients” or however the fuck that game went.

  • The Joker > Kefka. It’s true, and you know it.

It’s pretty funny in Third Strike to face one of those scrub Akuma players with Q w/Taunt x 3 assist.

They’re like, “I hit you a dozen times, but you killed me in 3 hits!”

Saga Frontier is amazing. Everyone hated on this game back in the day, but I always loved the battle system for some odd reason.

  • Oh, someone brought up another of my unpopular opinions. Goldeneye 007 sucks. Not only was it was leagues behind PC FPS at the time, it was just in general pretty bland.

I’ll totally agree that both the story and gameplay aren’t deep. In fact, the story is pretty laughably nonsense. But it’s still a lot of fun IMO, mainly on nostalgia factor + sometimes it’s nice to have combat where I can just mash a button.

I used to think that. And then WALL-E came out. I have hope again now.

Need For Speed has been pretty crappy over the years, it’s slowly on the decline. EA keeps trying to improve it’s “thuggish” image, which is rather dumb to me because the old NFS’s shit all over the new ones. The old hot pursuit’s shit all over these gangsta wannabe ass ports we see today.

I dunno what people see in Grand Turismo, if I wanted a real driving simulator I would jump in my fucking car. Shit gets boring rather fast, though I will say that 2 was the best hands down.

It’s sad to see what Sonic has become nowadays, his last great game in many eyes being SA1. Which, in turn, was a fucking long time ago. Remember all that talk about Sonic, Mario, and Crash? Those were the good ole’ days then, huh?

Tomb Raider just can’t catch my interest anymore. It’s slowly improving to me, but when I think about all those nightmarish jumps, slides, and retard traps killing me back in the day I wanna throw my controller at my set.

You point me out right now to the dumbasses who called KH’s story anything near “deep” or “complex”

The ones that aren’t 16 and under of course. That aside KH is a great and fun series to play through.

What did they do to Crash Bandicoot?

I was so mad when Naughty Dog said they were selling the franchise. Ever since Universal got it’s hands on it, it’s gotten worse and worse. No one cares anymore.

But the first three and the kart racer = god tier platformers. The hayday of the mid 90s. Super Mario Galaxies = Whack as fuck in comparison.

Most of those people are ignoring the handheld Sonics, which were all pretty good and worthy successors to the Genesis legacy. Advance 1-3, Rush and Rush Adventure, and Rivals 1 & 2… Go try them.

Also, all of the 3D Sonic games, including the first Adventure, were mixed bags of good and bad. People were just all up on the first 3D Sonic and overlook it’s flaws, same as Mario 64.

Universal always owned the rights to Crash. Pop in your Crash 1 disc.

That said, agreed 100%. First 4 Crash games >>>> most ongoing platform series.

Plenty of great movies are still made. Children of Men and Pan’s Labyrinth are fairly recent and full of awesome. The Dark Knight, from all reviews and impressions, is set to totally destroy the rest of 2008.

Fuck that, and fuck you.
