Naughty Dog is still making fantastic games.
Yeah, those were good movies. But even there I don’t see them beasting on every single aspect of filmmaking, and being quite on the same level of cinematic classics like Casablanca or Citizen Kane.
Dark Knight does like pretty Godly though. However, it’s not actually out yet. I also have this voice of doubt in the back of my mind saying that people are being so passionate about it because Heath Ledger died, similar to a lot of people’s feelings about JFK.
Ratchet & Clank, yes. Jak series, no.
Ratchet & Clank is made by Insomniac. Uncharted is Naughty Dog.
The two companies get along well and work together sometimes, though.
Oh, my bad then. I swear I had seen a Naughty Dog logo on the R&C game i played.
Ooooo, I need to get R&C Future still.
I gotta try that shit.
YES, BRING BACK DEATHMATCH! I don’t care about teams. It’s an FPS. I want a free for all battle to the death.
You just have to look for the good movies now. Like for epics, you have to wade through all the shit like Kingdom of Heaven, Alexander, Troy, etc. and get to the real meat like Braveheart (way overrated imo but still awesome) and Mongol. Fuck they were going to make this flick called “Crusade” about 10 years ago directed by Pal Verhoeven, starring Ahnuld as a German knight, with NC-17 rating and 100 million+ budget. The plot was just going to be Ahnuld singlehandidly slaughtering thousands of dudes while the film gently commentated on how hypocritical religion/religious wars are. The movie was basically going to be an instant classic but then the studio who was financing it decided at the last minute to make Cutthroat Island first and went bankrupt depriving the world of a classic Ahnuld flick from the director of RoboCop.
The real genre that is suffering IMO is fantasy movies (I don’t mean stuff like Pan’s Labyrinth. I mean traditional fantasy w/ magic swords and shit). Now we have all this bullshit like Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and Eragon. Fuck bring back awesome swords and sorcery shit like Conan the Barbarian and Excalibur. The Hobbit will probably be much better than LOTR as Guillermo del Toro >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Peter Jackson.
yep. Kefka is a Joker clone but a Joker clone is still better than Sephiroth.
Yeah, like not even the Xbox Ninja Gaidens were that hard. Once you figured out the battle system, they became repetitive and boring. Shinobi on PS2 was much better than Ninja Gaiden imo. I want a game that will kick my ass and make me eager to get my ass kicked again. Like Battletoads. Bad Dudes, Super Star Wars, and Super Mario Bros 2 JP.
Fight Night is a great game as well, I am just totally horrible at it.
Yeah, I really really enjoyed NBA Street 2 as well, I was just sad they took out the girl announcer, everything else was great. Vol 2 was pretty much a better version of vol 1 in every way.
After 2 it was totally downhill, get rid of the thug shit and put the soul back in the game.
Insomniac is one of the most underrated game companies out there.
Level 5 too.
True. I personally think that it’s came from a good thing as well as a bad thing.
Good thing = more actions you can perform with highly detailed environments and more flexibility with characters and less limitations means you can do more than you could with more than 2 buttons and increased options. Also, being able to save just about anywhere in the game with checkpoints and memory cards is a huge factor as well.
Bad thing = instant gratification gamers.
Kefka fucking sucks. He’s kinda funny because he’s a smart-ass, but that’s it.
Kuja IMO was a better villain. People talk about “Oh, but Kefka actually took over the world”…big whoop. Trance Kuja BLEW UP A FUCKING PLANET IN FIVE MINUTES. And even when you beat him, he still kills you all with Ultima and you’d be screwed if not for the retarded whatever-the-fuck his name was popping out.
Spore looks like the most boring game ever.
Haha! Total truth, the gameplay looks completely tedious.
But I like playing with the creature editor.
I’ve been hating on spore since my friend told me about it way back then (2004? I dunno this game has been “coming soon” forever)
Creature creator is probably the only fun part of the game. My friend is convinced the one player experience is gonna be all deep and long lived. I think it’ll be like “Ok my creature is fully evolved starts up creature creator ONCE MORE WITH FEELING”
Maybe it’s because we had so many good game streaks going, but people in the 90s hated on too many games for wrong damn reason. SaGa Frontier 1&2 and Secret of Evermore are solid square games that got a lot of hate, and still to this day, I haven’t really got a good explanation why. Don’t even start with that ‘it’s too hard’ crap. SF1 is my irl bud’s favorite, SF2 is my all time fav SaGa game after RS3 and FFLegend II. SaGa series had fantastic music, unique looks and just… ‘bigger’ than final fantasy.
SaGa games are plagued with problems, like their “random” leveling and “sparking” systems, which the games all fail to explain in depth. Any game by Kawazu has the same problem, actually.
I looveeee SF1. I even went through the trouble of converting it to an eboot to play it on my PSP. One of the things I can complain about it is that you die to some random ass shit sometimes. I remember I was playing Red’s quest at around the playground and they triple teched me and then I was dead. Also the game is relatively short as all the stories sort of blend in with each other.
However, once you get super dream combo or whatever it was called, it was practically over. Maybe I should have played the mystics or the robot, but it was basically spam fight moves until I get super dream combo.
Plural Slash (Robots only) is better than Dream Super Combo. You can easily get a 5-chain of all Plural Slashes, and that will do 6-digit damage.
On PC and far superior (due to other things then the standard “graphics”).
In terms of 360 exclusives out now:
Dead Rising
Ninja Gaiden II
Lost Odyessy
Crackdown
Dead or Alive 4 (some people like it)
Blue Dragon
Forza 2
Naruto game (some people say it’s actually pretty good)
Project Gotham Racing 4
and that’s all I can think of right now.
I don’t really care if it was great for it’s time, I just care if it is great right here and now. I’ve gone back and played many of these retro titles for the first time and many of them hold up well so it can’t be an autokill for these types of games.
:woot: I agree. If it wasn’t for the Nintendo DS and the PC I’d hate this generation.
Oh and Hatred_Edge just out of curiousity (since you play so many games) what fighting game do you think is the greatest?
Devil May Cry 2 was NOT that fucking bad.
I agree. Damn boring ass series. I’ll stick with Burnout 3.
