I like Tales games too. And yeah, the battle system is also what draws me into the game as well. Phantasia was my first, Symphonia my second.
Here is mine
The Xbox360 seems to be a worthy succesor in terms of approaching the library variety of a PS2⌠anyone who thinks its just a sports and FPS machine is stuck in late 2005 to mid 2006 or is just carrying some sort of stigma from the first Xbox. And this is coming from someone who owns a PS2 with lots of games and never gave two shits about the first Xbox. PS3 is well into its second year and still has a lot to prove for me to shell out the bucks (noâŚI donât go hell bent for Metal Gear), unlike many I donât think its going to be good just because the PS2 was goodâŚI still donât see that at least in real life outside of the internet (i.e. stores).
Ok I just reinstalled AOE2 for the first time in about 5 years and have to say that StarCraft and War 2 hold up much better.
NBA Street was on almost an NBA Jam level of fun.
Name a few 360-exclusive titles worth buying please?
Mass Effect is the only one I can think of.
NBA Street was a god tier game.
I have no idea how they took NBA Street 1 and got to where they are now.
They just fucked it all up. It all went down hill when they took the fun announcer away and replaced her with rap bullshit.
Rap always fucks up everything, schools, kids attitudes, and now our damn vidja games.
I mean Bobbito? Fucking seriously? BOBBITO?!?
SERVINâ IT UP! DINNERS SERVED!
SSX 3 was an amazing game. Itâs like they were totally forgotten about because EA made them.
I know my white pal big poppa lays loved SSX 3, he always knows whats up.
And thereâs my unpopular opinion. I couldnât possibly, remotely care less than I already do/did about Mass Effect. Or any Bioware RPG for that matter.
And yeah, Tales is good. Cliche stuff is pretty much everywhere; itâs all in how itâs packaged. And if that package happens to include my all time favorite battle system in an RPGâŚwell yeah.
*Did not like FFX. At all.
*Do not like the SNK fighter âenginesâ of KOF, SVC, etcâfelt too âstickyâ if that makes sense
On a side note, to many of you who said you didnât like FF6, or whatever game for that matter, did you first play (and finish) those games when they **FIRST **came out? I ask because when a game came out and when one first plays the game makes a HUGE difference in your reaction to it (e.g. playing Zelda 1 for the first time NOW may seem like pulling teeth to a random 13 year old used to the more advanced gameplay and next-gen graphics).
Yes.
It still sucks.
And you also recognise that games now play and look better soâŚI donât see how this is defending it.
Itâs pretty closeâŚâX game is the greatest Y of all timeâ is an opinion that is bound to have a disagreement down the road, personally my pick would be Elder Scrolls IV. Good thing about Tri-Ace is that they try to evaluate good part of JRPG and WRPG and mix them up. In Tri-Ace games they put in semi-complex(combo only lol) Fighting game-based system, but then they have pretty good ROLE FUKKEN PLAYAN aspects(private actions, etc) and item creations just like WRPGs do. They need to work on script check so that they donât contrast their games any more(for instance, when did Star Ocean 1 really start?, Who is Hrist?), and they need to work on character customizations. I mean shit, in SO games they already built polygons of all their gears that can be displayed in-game, why not give us the ability to change character appearances? Oh and Speaking of Star Ocean, this series really, really needs multiplayer setting.
BioWare are gods.
Neverwinter Nights is the greatest PC DnD RPG of all time.
No game has as many mods or as much reply value. It was way ahead of itâs time.
In other words - I just fail at life because I didnât read the system requirements and the game didnât run on my entry level dell.
There arenât any.
Exactly my point.
xbox and xbox 360 controllers are some of the worst controllers for fighting games ever invented by man, that shit makes you wanna throw it against the wall
mk2 was the best mortal kombat
killer instinct 1 shits on killer instinct 2
ddr type of games are wack as fuck
using wii fit, ddr, etc. as a replacment for actual exercise is wack as fuck too, lazy asses
true bisons psycho crusher in alpha 3 was cheap as fuck
and toe jam & earl was fuckin tight
Lmao, canât take you seriously when you say you donât care for ANY bioware rpg AND then go on to say Tales of series is good and it doesnât matter that itâs cliche-engineered from the ground up
BTW I take back Mass effect, I forgot itâs out on the PC.360 is trash yo, worst fucking system this gen, i got mine for free back in 06 and havenât played it in months.
 SSX series was the shit back in the day, also Fight Night is another great EA series. They are my two favorites.NBA street 1 & 2 were excellent games, youâd never think they spawned that piece of shit V3.
Tales of the Abyss was ass.
The battle system was cool I guess. The story sucked though for me. By the time Luke âCame to his sensesâ it was already to late for me.
And strangely enough Fatal, I still havenât even played Elder Scrolls IV. Should get around to that soon.
First of all I donât hate GG. If I did I would quit playing it. OF course Potemkin isnât on the same level as Slayer/Testament/Eddie.
No fucking way Millia and Pot are on the same level. Pot does pretty damn good against Millia . I havenât seen enough Baiken vs Pot but May isnât that big a deal for him nor Jam. From what Iâve seen/read Potemkin is just under S tier. Like A+. Heâs really fucking good. For such a HUGE target he seems not to be having much trouble beating people like Venom, Dizzy, Faust, Axl, Bridget. Potemkin is just under Slayer because Slayer has no trouble with anyone besides Eddie and Testament. Pot is a hard fight for Slayer because of Pot Buster. The stupid move grabs limbs. Thatâs 140 damage out of 420 from one move. That means some 90% of Slayerâs ground pokes are high risk. Itâs just that Pot players tend to go for walk up Pot Buster and Pot Buster setups far more often. Pot has weaknesses but his strengths are such overpowered bullshit that itâs as if it doesnât even matter what weaknesses he has.
Same here. I got into the Tales series because I liked RPGs. But low and behold, nearly the same combat system in every installment. If that wasnât bad enough everytime something important happened like a character dying, it was passed off as some piss poor attempt to create tragedy. I played Abyss. The combat seems the same as Symphonia and Legendia. And it does have bad writing. Thatâs why Iâm passing on the latest Tales installment. Iâve had enough. Itâs gonna take more than pretty graphics and the same stale combat system to win me over.
While DMC4 is a lot of fun, I think DMC3 is still better personally. It seemed more strategic to me, with you having to pick styles and weapons; some of the bosses actually require different strategies depending upon your choices.
Donât know your taste but personally, good 360 exclusives include the following,
Gears of War
Dead Rising
BioShock (for now)
Mass Effect
Lost Odyssey.
Although Spoonman is probably talking about the following RPGs being announced for release on the console later as to why it should be the successor for the PS2 fanbase (at least the RPG fans).
Tales of Vesperia
Star Ocean: Last Hope (4)
Infinite Undiscovery
Too Human
