umk3 is one of the best fighting games out. period. even though i know 3s, cvs2, vf, and t5dr (my main tourney games) are better games gamepay wise. umk3 is definately top tier.
FPS wise…
Quake 4 for P.C. > unreal tournament 2k4 PC > quake 3 PC > unreal tournament 3 PC> cod2 PC > cs 1.6/source PC > cod4 for pc > any trendy xbox 360 shooters/overhyped ps3 shooters
I played the shit out of aoe2 so I prefer it’s gameplay to aoe1’s despite it being unbalanced (The Conquerors fixed the really broken shit). I remember the Teutons (Germans) being God tier in AOE2 pre-expansion. Town center rushing for the motherfucking win.
I personally hate the heroes in War3 and the home cities in AOE3.
WTF dude? You liked that game? Are you sure you don’t mean the excellent beat 'em up SNES game Batman Returns?
I never played the conquerors so I wouldnt know how well it fixed it. The germans are who I thought used to be broken…its been forever since ive seriously sat down with the game.
Gameplay wise, you are all wrong about Final Fantasy. FFX is the best FF gameplay wise with VII having the most compelling story. But switching in, Aeons taking damage in PLACE of your characters, party members specializing in killing certain enemies, thus giving you a reason to use EVERYONE, the cinematic nature of the fights used without compromising speed or functionality…all makes X god tier as far as actually PLAYING a Final Fantasy game.
The N64 should have never been made. The, oh, 3-4 games that were good didn’t justify that purchase. Anyone with a 64 better not have missed out on the Playstation or I feel particularly sorry for them.
This reminds me, the fight with he Biolizard sucks ass. The Super Sonic and Shadow one, and the one and the one where you’re Shadow. Seriously, fuck the Biolizard.
I dunno if this is unpopular, but I thought it was bullshit that Shadow only had four stages in SA2.
The speed stages are the only enjoyable stages in that game.
Honestly, EX 2 and 3 were great games in their own rights, without having to transfer their characters (who are excellent) or gameplay mechanics to a fully 2D game.
If EX3 didn’t cut out characters from 2, it would have been incredible.
I know Golden Sun allows you to, but I don’t know about anything else. I really need to start playing games again.
Two of the most memorable boss fights in the series were when the antagonist was in Super mode ? Mecha Sonic in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Emerl in Sonic Battle. I’d love to see something like that again; a final fight that takes actual effort, instead of just walking up and tapping the opponent until they die.
Seriously. The same gimmick have been regurgitated in every fight: soar through the space, tackle bad guy, lather rinse repeat. You’re telling me that even after the discovery of Chaos Control six fucking years ago, and knowing that one Chaos Emerald can fuck your shit up, that being imbued with the power of all of them, the most Sonic can do to damage is opponent is fucking ramming into them?
Get that shit outta here.
I say that it is bad as everyone says, and I haven’t even played the goddamn thing.
If I could, I’d rep you for this.
The story wasn’t shit
The music was still atmospheric, and not the guitar-driven soundtrack it is now
You aren’t forced to switch characters half-way through your original campaign (sup SA2, Heroes, Sonic 2k6)
The controls were still solid (even if the camera does suck)
The stage design for some stages were actually a step in the right direction
It may not has aged well, but overall, it’s still leagues better than the other 3D Sonic games I’ve played. It’s basically the last 3D Sonic game released that feels like they’ve tried.
Agreed; the speed segments were awesome, Super Sonic recolour or not.
I swear, I must be the only person that likes the hunting stages. Some of them, anyway; Death Chamber and Egg Quarters can GTFO, but I adore Meteor Herd and Security Hall.
Every 3D Sonic game has had some good ideas in it which, if developed further, could have been turned into a good game. Just SEGA never does anything to correct the issues and fix the bugs, and continually tries something else instead.
Megaman Powered Up should have been on DS, even if it would have meant lesser graphics. Platformers and cartoony games both sell better on DS, and the touch screen would be awesome when using the level editor.
Good story =/= good game. Get that tedious turn-based RPG shit out of here… you want a story, go watch a movie.
-Graphics are not just secondary, but tertiary to gameplay.
The main reason that I hate the hunting stages are that they are slow and time-consuming, yet in a Sonic game. Sonic = speed. Make that treasure hunting stuff a separate game, one that doesn’t have the Sonic title on it. Same with the Mech style stuff. It wasn’t bad, it just was too slow to be in a Sonic game.
Although I still love Mario Kart Wii, I totally agree with you. Any game that has a shitton of unlockables to increase game length is annoying. Especially when it’s a multiplayer-focused game like SSB series or Mario Kart. I bought the game to chill with friends, not to spend a week cooped up in my room unlocking everything first.
I forgot to say this earlier, but… I felt that New Super Mario Bros was a poor Mario game (it was a decent game, but very overrated and lackluster compared to other Mario games). To innovate so much in the games before it (SMB1-3, World, 64, Sunshine, etc.) yet remove so much in the NEWER entry just gave me an empty feeling inside. Very few power ups (the two new ones aren’t used very often; thus, most people will probably end using the classic Fire Flower), stupidly easy difficulty, poor boss design, poor traction, among other things. I understand why this game is the best selling DS game as of right now, but it just seems so empty and boring to me. Even Mario Sunshine is better than this IMO.
Super Mario 64 is way overrated. While some parts of the game are fun, a lot of it is bland and there is a lot of wasted space in most of the levels. It’s also possible to skip large portions of some levels with the proper use of long or triple jumping. Worst of all, this game introduced the treasure hunting concept that has become quite a staple of 3D platform and which IMO is more tedious than fun.
On the other hand, Super Mario Sunshine is pretty fun. While it has some of the same problems as SM64 (treasure hunting >.<), overall it is a better game because of the pretty challenging obstacle courses, some very fun and original bosses, and significantly less wasted space in levels.
hell yeah, only blind maddenheads will defend the latest gen maddens
just look at it
-ruined a great playcalling system (although there are some cleverness to the new one, its not the same)
John Madden isnt even doing the voice overs (yet he is still getting the large bags of money)
-And other dumb stuff yall niggas dont give a shit about.
Not from what Ive heard. Dancing (properly) is pretty retarded hard in Age 1 as well as controlling seige, towers, jihad villagers, and the such. I dont know of any other RTS game that lasts as long as Age 1. Ive had 1x1s last two and a half + hours. Strong post iron game seperates good between expert
I actually like Security Hall, because it fit Rouge’s character so perfectly. I thought Mad Space was more annoying than Egg Quarters. But yeah, Death Chamber, Egg Quarters, Aquatic Mines (without the air necklace) and Mad Space makes me want to kill the developers.
It’s not really strategy, is it? More like, praying your teammates don’t do something stupid even after you’ve told them what to do. Though I heard this disparity at the game’s AI fluctuates between people that have played the game, so you might be having a great time there with good allies. I’ve just got people that failed the Star Ocean 3 AI auditions.
I heard that P4 may have manual control though, thank God.
To…Shinkuu, I think? Good RPGs, in no particular order:
Mount and Blade (currently playing)
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2
Final Fantasy Tactics, XII, X-2
Suikoden Tactics
Wizardry 8
Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land
Planescape: Torment
Fallout 2
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
I’m sure I’m missing a lot more, but I can’t be arsed to think of them at the moment.
Back on topic:
I never liked any of the Crash Bandicoot games, even when people were raving about it
I don’t like any proper Mario platform game, but I like Kaizo Mario (also known as Asshole Mario sometimes)
Panzer Bandit is a great beat-em-up, more people should play this (Japan only PSX game)
I don’t think the Final Fight series is any good
I don’t like GTA, except in general insanity kind of terms where I’ll just wreck shit till the army comes
I like Virtua Fighter’s overall looks compared to other 3D fighters, mainly due to how the moves look (exceedingly painful and efficient)
I think Sonic CD was pretty sub-par, and not as great as people made it out to be
