Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

I don’t like the Dead Rising games. Not crazy about Left 4 Dead, RE, or Dead Island, either.

I do love zombie stuff, though.

Those are the only zombie games that have come in out in forever though.

While not true zombies, I categorize the reanimated corpses in Dead Space with them. Same for the head crab-gotten enemies in HL/2. I love those series. Undead Nightmare is an excellent expansion, too.

I’d classify necromorphs as zombie. Sure they mutate. And can be created from a live being, but most of the time they are reanimated corpses. They’re a big off shoot from classic zombies but they are zombies. I also don’t remember how the marker influenced that shit at te moment either.

HL2 though, I wouldn’t call those zombies. That’s parasitism more than anything. The headcrab just hops on and controls brain functions. The human is still alive. You can even hear them screaming and yelling “help me!” While they come at you.

Neither (HL/2) constitute a “zombie game” in any case. That said, the aforementioned enemies are called zombies.

I liked Dead Rising 1 more than 2 because the moving around the game never sucked. Whenever you went to do something in DR1 you’d have enough space to look around, walk past zombies, and occasionally find an interesting item that stood out. DR2 was so freaking crowded that I couldn’t see a thing around me, and its darker environments made finding cool new items a pain. Not to mention that horrendous start up animation when you wanted to run. That game felt way too slow.

I also hated the combo weapons. Combo weapons made me never look at a single normal item once, just found items to build stuff. You had powerfull weapons at the start of the game for no effort. None of the fun of running around with a broom, soda cans, and a purse.

Speaking of Dead Rising, that game is more survival horror than modern Resident Evil.

I prefer the Greatest Hits labels on PS1 games over the Black Label. It compliments the game covers really well.

The only time I avoid a Greatest Hits game is if it was re-printed by Square-Enix. I hate S-E and their ugly ass logo.

Who praises MK9 for core mechanics?? lolol The weirdos over in the MK9 thread, but the MK community is mostly an anomaly. No idea how or why anyone would want to play an Ed Boon game competitively.

cs1.6 > CSGO and css combined. Fuck both those games.

I finished Portal 2 for the first time last week and it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be.

I never saw the appeal of Guilty Gear. First time I seen GGXX, I was amazed by the gameplay, so I picked it up. I remember the GS employee asking me what Guilty Gear is exactly and just sighed and shrugged. But the characters put me off cause they’re so freaking anime. I was super macho back then, Madden or Live brah. Plus I was super mind-fucked by the Bridget gender thing. Now that I’m out the anime closet, I plan on giving GG and Blazblue another try.

Completely agree with both statements. Fuck 2-D Mario water levels. As for escort missions, E.E. wasn’t nearly as bad as

On another note. I was super bias about RE4 being worse than RE5 after playing RE5 again. The A.I. is dumb as dogshit. Probably cause my first 5 playthroughs were co-op. I still think RE4 is overrated though.

Earthbound has some pretty basic mechanics but it’s easily one of the better games on the SNES.

I’m gonna say this is not really an ‘unpopular’ opinion as a ‘not popular’ opinion

Secret of Mana is easily the best series of all time for the multiplayer alone. Easily the most fun i have ever had playing an RPG. Better than chrono trigger, better than ff6, and whatever other single player borefests you can bring up compared to the GOD that is secret of mana.

Most fun thing that happend was at the final boss too. One of my friends who was playing Isabel (the girl) died and we had no more angel cups. Me and my other friend were low on health, had only one half of the mana power to give to me. He gave the power to me and I hit the final boss a couple. He flashed and I did like 2-300 damage per hit. The boss didn’t die though and just went into his fire attack animation. It was over, we were dead. But the fire didn’t hit us. We thought we had a lucid barrier up for a while. At that point the final boss was coming back to finish the job. We were running around the stage saying it was over. …And then… the boss just exploded! All that stress for no reason because he was already dead. I regret missing the opportunity for a Kenshiro Joke.

…and time for more blasphemy…

People have kept going on and on about Half Life for many years now, and I’m just not seeing the appeal…maybe I had to be into PC gaming and play that when it came out or something, but nothing about it looks particularly interesting to me… it looks like an “alright”, “ok” game at best. Heh, I’ll bet that there will still be people praying for a part 3 to that series 15 years from now.

*I was a fan of wrestling for quite awhile, but most wrestling games are terrible, especially with regard to gameplay. I’m not sure why companies have failed so many times at making it fun to play…they usually churn out some boring, slow-paced garbage in terms of how the characters are controlled. There’s been a few good ones, of course-- Ultimate M.U.S.C.L.E. got it right, imo… the shit was fast-paced action, more like a pure fighting game as opposed to a “wrestling game”.

*I’ve never viewed puzzle games as “real” video games… more like “gaming-lite”…some simple shit you may do to pass the time before getting to the main-event status, “real” gaming stuff… or to use the food analogy-- to me a puzzle game is like some light snack or appetizer, whereas a Viewtiful Joe, Gears of War 3, Unreal Championship 2, Dragon’s Crown, etc… those are like full-course meals… those are the fat, juicy steak and potatoes on your plate complete with some side-servings. The puzzle game was the equivalent of the little basket of breadsticks or peanuts or whatever the restaurant gives you while you wait on the meal.

Triggers are terrible. They should be optional. I don’t play FPS games and triggers don’t magically make racers better. It’s all in your mind.

The DualShock 3 had it right.

The best RPG of the 16-bit era never officially made it to the U.S.

Emulation + Neill Corlett gifted it to us.

Seiken Densetsu 3 - never forget.

I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion at all. CSS was hated by the 1.6 community and GO is essentially an updated Source.

Unpopular Opinion. I like Yoshinori Ono. I think he’s a funny dude who doesn’t deserve most of the hate that he gets.

Yoshinori Ono is to capcom, as The President is to the USA. When something goes wrong, those are the guys to blame for their respective organizations. Taxes get high as fuck you blame obama. Akuma gets ridiculously top tier, you blame Yoshinori

Pretty much. He’s really just a PR guy, but people do hate on him alot sometimes like he kicks puppies or something. Personally I like him. Harada is a G though. That dude I hope has a very long career in FGs.
