Unpopular gaming opinions SECOND IMPACT

i dont think those count, cause in a text based game, you have to type to do anything

Like @OrochiDemon said, they were like that due to technology limitations. Once the tech got advance enough that’s what those games became as developers were able to visualize their ideas.

Last gen - PS3/360 in my terms now.

Buddy, you couldnt GIVE me an XBOX back in the day. You aint telling me nothing I dont know. PS2 all day erryday. Other than EA games, and Soul Calibur 2, most devs made multiplats better on PS2. Despite it being less powerful than GCN, and especially XBOX.

However, things have changed. PS3 got that treatment this time around. PS3 turned me off sooo much I dont want to get a PS4. I wont be missing anything.

Orochidemon…?

And yeah text based adventure games like Zork evolved into games like The walking Deqd (both excellent IMO).

Triggers are good for racing games.
Really fucking good for racing games.
Much better than analog buttons.

SNK fighters and Cave Shmups can be emulated but VO:OT doesn’t have online play(not sure about the emulation) on any other platform. VF5 and 5FS haven’t been emulated let alone have online play. The Treasure game were redone and have revamped gameplay as well as an option to go back to the original style, which hasn’t been emulated. Bangai-O HD is a new entry in the series, hasn’t been emulated.

If XBLA games can be emulated on the PC, then it’s news to me, and my first post, and the paragraph above are invalid.

Is that really an unpopular opinion? I honestly cant think of a recent racing game that uses buttons anymore.

According to shishoshi or whatever his name is, it is.

Skies of Arcadia is better than most mainstream RPGs, sans Chrono Trigger, FF6, and Suikoden 2.

The original Dead Rising is in my top 3 games of last gen despite it’s glaring flaws.

Lost Odsessy is pretty underated, although the story and plot goes to shit later on in the game

Eternal Sonata’s combat system is good, the ending just made no sense whatsoever

I feel all rpgs should follow star ocean and tales of series battle systems…I feel that the player should have control over the character in real time in battle which adds more strategy…a major problem with this formula is overpowered char attacks, spells, techniques, and weapons.

im not a fan of turn based but if it is turn based it should play like ff13, KEYWORD IS PLAY…that is all that type of style needs to be deep

I will glady substitute gameplay for a good deep story in a rpg…

Actually, it probably was the one hit kill aspect. Shinobi III was pretty and all, had dope movelist, but I never revisited it after playing. Some levels just felt like nothing more than eye candy. For whatever reason I never got sick of Shadow Dancer. Cranking up the difficulty and finding new ways to bounce off enemies without getting hit. Something about that just got me to latch on to it. I probably still know every detail of that game.
And I never played 3d platformers.

The one thing about it I’ll take over the sequel is the fact that you get a lot more from achievements, including that sick ass megabuster. I think 2 had something from protoman but it didn’t seem to be as damaging and it looked like you had to go even further out of your way to get it. Also, is it me, or was 1 a lot harder? This could be because you couldn’t move and aim at the same time, which would make it harder for a stupid reason, but I got to the S ending waaaaaaay faster in 2 than I did in 1.

2 had better controls, but the loading times were terrible.
1 had better everything else.

Dead Rising 1 was harder due to having awful survivor AI and stricter time limits. I liked the fact the survivors can hold their own, follow you without doing dumb shit and not die if you take your eyes off them in DR2. Escort missions didn’t become bouts of frustration.

Weapon crafting was more useful mechanic than the camera

DR1 is harder because of the afformentioned escort missions, and the leveling system. DR2 is challenging, but can be beat on first playthrough. DR1 is seems designed to force you to restart the game at least once to get to a sufficent level to take on it’s challenges.

I still prefer 1 over 2 for some reason. Maybe it’s the fact that obtaining the Mega Buster is still my favorite gaming moment from last gen, and made the 3-4 hours of grinding to get it worth it.

Don’t get me wrong, if you’re looking at it from a mechanical stand-point, DR2 is the better game (better visuals, better AI, bigger map, combo weapons, ect, ect.), but I still prefer the og for some reason. It’s kinda like how some people prefer L4D1 to L4D2.

I… fucking hate escort missions.

You just reminded me of escorting Ms. I don’t like to fucking swim in MGS2…
That was the worst part… Worse than doing cartwheels with naked Raiden… Fuck, the end of that game made me punch walls.

DR1 is unplayable on a non HDTV. That text is so god damn small you cant ever get an accurate read on how long you have to get something done.

Escorting Emma is like 5 minutes long.

It’s not the task itself. It’s that when she gets knocked down, it takes a year for her to get up.

That, and the fact that you have to not only escort her, you have to go through fucking water… Fuck water levels too. The two of those things combined… gah.
But yeah… it’s like 5 minutes.
