To be completely honest PC versions of most things tend to be better but that’s saying COD is better on PC is like saying taking one Mike Tyson punch to the nuts is better than taking two.
All I said was that COD pulls madden numbers consistently, if not better numbers. Activison is a company that wants ALL of the money. The less risks they take, the bigger the profit. Hence why all of them play the same.
I’m not saying its a good thing, I’m just saying that I get why they don’t change jack shit with their games.
I like Final Fight: Streetwise. Game is a piece of shit but I love how it becomes a zombie apocalypse halfway through. It put it on so bad it’s good territory for me.
It was just highly talked about but not many played it… it looked fun… but once people started getting dat mass access through xbl or psn, they were like “This game is kinda ass”
Actually R2’s multi was couple steps back from R:FOM. They took away most of what the community liked about R:FOM, made it like COD, and added Beserks. Terrible.
Last of Us is a Solid 8/10, Multiplayer is pretty sick. Kind of like a combination of CS and Gears of War
I see no reason to play most of the ps3 exclusives like Uncharted/Infamous. They just seem like 1 and done run of the mill adventure games.
I thought the newest Bionic Commando wasn’t that bad, then again I only bought and played it while under the influence just to hear more work from the brilliant Spencer VA from UMvC3. Was severely let down when I found out it wasn’t the same guy
MGS2 is the best Metal Gear and I love the story.
I think BlazBlue is pretty cool and don’t see why the capcom community kind of shuns it.
From how much people talked up bayonetta and platinum games, and my love of MGS and Raiden, I was very excited for MGR:R. Unfortunately, I thought it was pretty average. The Zandatsu kills the game, combos require little execution and aren’t very diverse, the item system was horrendous. At least the music was pretty godlike, as were the graphics and bossfights.
Gears of War 1 is the best shooter of this generation
Also, people who say DmC was ok, you disappoint me.
Old FPS where fucking awesome because they where 3D Shmups. I shit you not they where about dodging bullet patters and taking on waves of patterned enemies. It wasn’t about dodging realistically, (You know planes in shmups don’t control like that irl right?) it was about being swift and having good reflexes and an eye for gaps. Honestly they where Smash TV but from the FPS perspective. Great fucking games.
Agreed. When I play Doom 1 or 2, it was all about opening a door, and like 50 dudes were in a tiny room, ready to push your shit in. Outdoor levels were all about strafing while shooting nonstop. They didn’t have reloading weapons, because that would have killed you.
Get a different perspective from the community then. Play on a competitive website like Gamebattles. it comes down to a lot more than what you think it is. There’s Map Knowledge and Control, identifying choke points, what positions are better for a 3v3 than a 4v4 etc. Depending on the game mode but usually, people don’t shoot as often because people use sound as much as you quake players do. Players with knowledge would know to throw a grenade to kill someone in an objective gametype and re-position himself as fast as he can instead of shooting.
Quake has more ‘gun skill’ involved, sure, but strategy is usually the same. (Get power weapons, identify map control etc.) I’m sure we can both agree the game begins to get a little unfair once a more experienced player abuses power weapons against a less knowledgeable player. That’s why CoD is so popular, they simplified the formula that bridges the gap the most. (Gun Skill) hence why even kids play it. But I can assure you anyone who knows the things I mentioned above would win 9/10 times because it’s more than a point and shoot.
I don’t play CoD unless it was tournaments (Which I quit after MW2) so I guess I’m a tad bias. But everyone makes it sound like it’s thanks to cod your favorite FPS games never get the community they deserve.
The zombie games… that trend has really worn out its welcome, imo. It would be funny to see just how insane the # of zombie games is at this point, if one were to compile a list. Besides, I doubt there will ever be a zombie game, at least on console, that tops Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. Also, zombies have never been, nor will they ever be as cool, badass and interesting as vampires (non-Twilight version) are.
*isometric action-RPGs (the Diablos)–> I still prefer controller for these games. It’s strange to me that most seem to prefer mouse and keyboard. The console D3 will easily be the superior version, at least to me…due to native controller support, removal of the online requirement, and the absence of the goddamn auction house. Once the console version is out, I will most likely never return to the computer version (*unless at some point in the future they remove the online requirement and open it up to let modders go crazy with it) Also, I think most PC developers are close-minded and/or lazy for not even considering a console port of these types of games when they’ve already been on consoles before. (Diablo was on Playstation…that was actually my first exposure to the series; in this era there was the first Torchlight on Live Arcade, and Crimson Alliance which was at least “ok”…if CA had more depth and some actual skill-tree ideas for the characters it could’ve been awesome. Wizard was the absolute GOD character in that, btw. The enemies had no chance.)
Beyond Good & Evil is insanely overrated. Yes, it’s an amazing game, but it’s not hard to make a game that is incredible when the gameplay only lasts a few hours and there is no replayability.
This might also apply to Bioshock Infinite, if the story weren’t so damn good.
I loved it even when the game was new on PS2 and loved it 10 years later when I bought the HD Collection. MGS1 was good for its time, but the gameplay is very outdated compared to MGS2 and MGS3. I didn’t like Raiden’s VA, but the deconstructive mindscrew storyline was awesome.
MGS4 is overrated. I hated the retcons in the game and the simplified gameplay, like being able to buy ammo ANY TIME.
When I played the game 12 or so years ago as a kid I never understood the story, but when I played it again on my 360 it all came together and I realized how interesting and thought provoking the whole plot really was
